It would have been fine except they recently changed the signature limits. It's all here: http://www.menewsha.com/viewtopic.php?t=33370

And the lock is about the freedom from locked threads. I.E. some users feel that moderators lock threads that still could have valid discussion. So it's showing support for keeping threads open longer....

is there something that could tell me that they're the event's NPCs?

See the staff calling them NPCs is confusing....basically the clue points you to a page and then usually if you scroll down...you will see something unusual. A drawing or character....but no you're not really looking for the NPCs that post. <3
