I'd NEVER kill a praying mantis. D:
EVER. :>!
But anything else is, more or less, fair game.
Although I don't kill crickets or grasshoppers either, since I always group 'em with praying mantises in case I react too quickly and... well, kill a praying mantis that looked like a cricket/grasshopper in the heat of the moment. >w> xD;
If something's in my house - especially in my room - I kill it.
But more often than not, I find already-dead bugs. I flush those down the toilet. :B

For-Chan Cookie- Aw..what a cute name! <3 ..pretty mouse too, by the sounds of it. ^^ ..yeah..it's too bad they don't live long.. Powder's companion was a little brown fellow named Stripe. He had a thin, black stripe on his back, and a light-brown body. :3
Facade- Yay. ^^ Praying mantis..seem to be rare now adays. I used to see them a lot in Texas. When I was really little I think I remember seeing a gorgeous white and black striped-praying mantis..just one.. I remember it was a praying mantis..but..I wonder if it was one of a kind.. Oh, that was my first friend ever too; a small, green praying mantis, who I played with in my backyard in -I don't remember where- but it loved to climb on my head. Hm..never gave it a name.. =o
Edit- I have a picture with me as younger and my praying mantis friend. :3 Want to see it anyone? =o
lol ..hm..I'd hate to be flushed. XD ..life must be hard for a bug..a lot of humans want you dead. ><

Well, their lives aren't all that significant or long-lived to begin with. xP
I have a bug phobia though, sadly. I hardly mind gnats (in all of their annoyingness... dryer sheets do wonders to ward them off, of course; put one or three of those in your hair or under your hat, and they're out of your hair... literally!), but anything that is creepy-crawly just gets under my skin... ._. I know it's lame to be afraid of something so small, but there are people out there who are afraid of women, or afraid of leaving home, etc., etc., so I hardly feel lame or anything of that nature. xD

Edit- Aha! lol The quail are back. XD They're so chatty! XD; -watching quail stare into my window- -stares back- >>
Facade- Yeah.. >< Flies..8 days to live..or is hours? ..kinda reminds me of The Ring..anyway.. x3 Gnats are annoying..thanks for the advice..now if only I could stand the smell of the dryer sheets.. Also, fear is natural.. Oh lol I am one of those afraid to leave home. >>

@Larele - I had a brown and white one I named Neapolitan, after the ice cream because she had a pink nose, so strawberry and the brown and white was vanilla and chocolate XD The others I started naming after characters from Brian Jacque's Redwall Novels about talking mice and woodland creatures. XD

@Candy - We were talking pets and animals.
@Larele - Redwall was the first one I ever read :D The one after, Mattimeo was good too. Well, they're all good, but after a while the formula could get a little boring, because it's the same for each book. Regardless, they are fun books.

@Larele - I liked it. The problem with the Redwall books is that they're all so formulaic. Meet good guys, bad guys invade, good guys take up arms, conflict, fighting, good triumphs over evil. You can only read it a few times before it's too much.

@Larele - I like Mathias too. I named one of my mice after him XD It's been many years since I read the books, so I can't remember all the names. I've read a lot of Redwall books since then too.

@Larele - There is such a thing as being too creative with names though. I mean, look at what people are naming their kids these days O_o

I think SOME "creative" kid names are okay, though. I mean, overall, Apple isn't THAT weird of a name, you know?
But some are damned freaky... ._.

Apple isn't that weird, but I still don't think of it as a name, as a person. An apple is an object, a thing! Why would you want to name your child after a thing?

Well, think of the meanings of certain names... :P
I mean, my name means 'beacon hill' or 'hill of broom' in Gaelic/Old English!
I'd MUCH sooner name my child Apple than after a hill of broom or a beacon hill... .___.;

@Facade - Personally, I don't think the meaning of the name is terribly important. People don't call your name and think "Beacon hill." They call your name and think of you. Whereas if your name is Apple, they're going to be thinking of apples, not you. They might even get hungry for pie =/
