I dunno why but that made me think of the two bananas that were left for dead in our kitchen once. The story is long, but I still roll over every time I recollect it.

Okay, maybe the story isn't so long... >>; But anyway, here it is. ((Anna, you will recall me telling you in my charity thread that I am not the best housekeeper...))
When we moved into our bigger apartment (where we live now), I decided that since we had room for a kitchen table, I really wanted a fruit bowl. So I got one from Target for $10-15 or so. Heavy metal, sturdy, with a banana hook on the top. I was pleased.
See, we love fruit. Absolutely love it. But often times bananas get overlooked. One week we'll buy a bunch of six and they'll be gone in 45 minutes (*cough*). Another week we'll get another big bunch, and not touch a single one of them until they go bad. I don't know why it's like this. In fact, we have three or four bananas on the table that need to be used up in the next day or so, thus, after I finish telling this story I'm going to make smoothies.
So anyway. I usually hang my bananas on the banana hook. Some weeks the bananas are the only fruit on/in the fruit bowl. I like cold oranges, he likes cold apples, and though I prefer my apples room temperature I don't buy them as often as other fruits.
A long time had passed since we went grocery shopping one month. When I woke up one morning, I wandered down the hallway and he meets me in the living room, holding up his hand. "I want you to come look at something." His tone was all serious.
I, in my half-asleep disposition, said something like, "Uh oh. What did I do?"
"Nothing. Just come look."
I go into the kitchen and see that the bananas had gotten so old, hanging there on my precious, faithful, and not to mention sturdy banana hook, that they had peeled themselves.
I don't know why I found it so hilarious then, or so hilarious now, but I do. :XD The thought of self-peeling bananas tickles me. The fruit was just laying there, one on top of the other. Did they peel together? One go after the other? Had they realized no one wanted them and thus just gave up on life?
