I think Starbucks had a thing for a while where they served Mayan Hot Cacao (or whatever), and it was really really tasty, so that's the only way I know about their skeelz. xD And, like, 7th grade History but all I remember from that is that the Mayans got totally pwned by some European jerks. :/

Yeah...pretty much every native got screwed over by the Europeans. A lot of people either don't know or refuse to see that that was how our country was made. The patriotic type would probably say that this country was built off a dream or some bull like that. It was supposed to be a safe haven from the monarchy in Europe, but the settlers just wound up becoming that whom they ran from. It's all bullshit, but there's nuttin we can do, especially now, except live our lives.

I've taken a few history classes and all have gone over or mentioned US history (aside from the class that actually was US history). Every time I hear someone say something of appraisal towards the foundation of this country I just smirk and shake my head.

Anyways, I've never heard of the Mayan chocolate thing with Starbucks. It sounds yummy though.

@Scooter- Yeah, exactly! But I guess every country's history classes are skewed in favor of that country. Patriotism. :/ Luckily, I've had a lot of really realistic/snarky history teachers that aren't afraid to tell their students how messed up America really is. :lol:

Yeah... come to think of it, neither have I. D: Maybe being realistic is a requirement of becoming a History teacher! Or maybe it's just hard to be patriotic when you know how many horrendous things America has done.

I'm sure that it exists out there somewhere, but I think that a lot of the teachers know that ya just gotta teach the facts. I'm sure that history teachers really don't enjoy teaching about the slave trade and the hell that the Africans had to endure, but...it's history. I know that there is more to it than just that, I'm just too lazy to name off everything like the Nazis of WW2 and the containment camps during the Vietnam war. I'm not much of a history buff (I forget a lot of the small details that I learn), but I do enjoy taking history classes while I'm there to do so. I dunno, I guess I find it fascinating to learn about how we've evolved culturally.

On another note, I've only had one highly patriotic Social studies teacher, but he sucked as a teacher.... and nobody respected him... course, that doesn't mean that nobody respects highly patriotic SS teachers in general... but... /shot/
