But the point is... I'm quitting and selling/giving my stuff away. So the Oriental fan + November price isn't natural. It's discounted. Which isn't supposed to be reported. o.o;;

I actually think the whole site-run price guide is a bit ridiculous.
People seem to be hailing it as a means of stopping artificial inflation, but it will most likely stop inflation all together, which is actually a normal factor in economies such as this, with constant injections of currency.
In fact, if prices are not allowed to rise, things could really go downhill.

To all those opposed to artificial inflation, I understand, but this is artificial stagnation, which is quite the same concept, and does not let the market evolve at the discretion of the consumer.

This is like E-Communism, as users will most likely take the guide as gospel and refuse to pay prices which differ from the aforementioned thread due to it being "official".

While I understand that prices will indeed rise and fall with the guide in effect, such shifts will be skewed.

o-o actually the prices have risen quite a bit. it hasn't stopped any inflation. prices are due to what people bid on it. if they feel like things are worth more than they actually say in the price guide most people will bid more and that's how the price guide goes up!

we've had a price guide for a while, but the slippers went from 2k to 9k within 3 months. :O and the crowns went from 10k - 30k within a few months too.

the prices are reported according to the sales done in the exchange. if someone feels like an item is worth more they can always request more. if the buyer feels like it's worth it they'll pay it, if not, no one will pay it. o-o

Yeah. The prices in the price guide definitely aren't followed like that. Perhaps if you'd actually take a minute to look at our economy now -- and perhaps have looked at it a few weeks ago before Alicia was selling, you'd see that the price guide is only used as.. a guide. Most users know the guide is ONLY what it's called, a guide. We don't follow it like a bible. Just like wish said, Crowns are no longer 25k like I believe is still said in the guide, they're more around 40k. The guide is off on a lot of the old event items too. Right now menewsha's economy is unstable and no one is quite sure where the prices are. Right now we have alot of sellers contrary to our usual lack of sellers and mass of buyers. Inflation isn't being stopped by the priceguide at all. I check the priceguide to get a general feel of the item value, then look for what it's going on the exchange. Usually the prices are off by just a smidge. Unless it's one of those items that hardly ever inflate IE: Cloaks, Scepters, Yumeh Pins, etc. If you'd been here a month ago on the exchange, price were certainly on the rise but right now we're currently at a standstill, for obvious reasons. (Alicia having all the pure from her sales, gold cap) According to your profile, you just joined today. Which I don't really know if being on menewsha one whole day constitutes you to have enough information on our economy to really say anything about it. >_>;

Like others have already pointed out, most users definitely DO NOT follow the price guide (at least, when it come to older CI's & EI's). I recently bought a Pure Love Boa for 100k and another one was sold for 90k. Most Lovelipops have been sold for 50k+ recently. These are not consistent with the price guide.

I think the problem is that users who are selling rares see that they have previously sold for a certain amount and automatically decide that their items are worth the same amount or more. That causes inflation because the seller refuses to sell for anything less than that amount. This is even worse than it seems, since most rare item sales are done when the buyer is desperate and is willing to pay inflated prices for the item in the first place. >.<

I think you're good at economics, but real life isn't the same as this game since supply of the old rares is very limited. If we had regular injections of gold into the economy (which we do) AND a consistent sales of rares (which we don't), your theory would hold true. But since rares are so... rare, the regular injections of gold just fuel inflation of older items.

I trying to start Exchanging on this site, I just have a question for you more experienced peoples.

Do people actually go by the "price guide"?

For example, if I wanted to buy the Bee Headphones, would I actually be able to buy it for 300 - 400 gold?

Monstryk, you most certainly could buy them 300-400g.
xD
I go by the priceguide, but just know that it's really a GUIDE
and not the exact prices.

So you know what I noticed about the market on here...well unlike gaia, we don't have ups and downs where you could lose profit. You are always going to gain or be the same unless you buy something way over priced and sell it supah cheap. But like on gaia you can buy a MC for let's say 12k, and the next two hours from when you bought it, it will be like 10k.

Sellback Store

It's in the Shops tab, Deok, under the list link at the top.

Well, that's not quite true, Love Hate - things have gone down... It's just not as 'bouncy' as Gaia. XD Usually our items go up or down in value very slowly and in small increments. But that's not saying that the Valentines '07 items weren't once around more than 20k more expensive than they are now, even. But the older an item is, the more likely you are, here, to have a solid investment.

Older doesn't necessarily guarantee a safe investment though. The Cat Set from June of 07 wasn't a good set to invest in because they were fug and everyone knows that. Of the older CIs, they pretty much fail as far as investments go, and the only reason they've achieved the price they hold right now is due to the fact that there are so few of them, and not that they're well liked.

I guess not every thing can be highly popular all the time.

I liked the Tiger, but the Lion and the Nature Cloak were the only two donation items that I did not care for all that much.

I do like almost all the things on this site though.

Spring was the last one who updated, so I'm assuming she's in charge. =P
It's understandable that she's updating a bit late-- she just took over MAC for Caroline on top of her other Moderator duties.

Whoever thought of this-

* Due to the rarity of these items, sales are not frequent and so prices may not be completely accurate.

Good job. :]

They repixelled it because (I think) it was toolshaded,
or at least, according to staffers, not up-to-par with the rest
of Mene's item quality.
