She appeared in both the original Doctor Who, and in the reboot. Apparently she holds the record for the longest gap between appearances on the programme.
and here's something that might particularly interest some of you:
Quote:
Her agent, Gemma McAvoy, said: "Margaret worked tirelessly for charity; always happy to give her time and boundless energy to help others.
"She completed 'the mile' for Sport Relief; performed with Only Men Aloud and stuffed money into John Barrowman's trousers for Children in Need and played drums for the Gavin and Stacey Comic Relief Barry Islands in the Stream sketch.
It doesn't mention it in the article (shame!) but she also played Nanatoo in The Mighty Boosh.
Figure skater video is blocked here but I think I found a video from the Championships here. Not my area of expertise but certainly looks impressive.
I didn't realise that Margaret John had been in so many things. The snippet I saw just mentioned Doctor Who and the Mighty Boosh. She seemed like a nice woman as well, I'm sure she'll be missed.
Yes, she indeed seems like a coolio lady. I decided a while ago that when I grow up, I want to be Angela Lansbury, but I wouldn't mind having a bit of Margaret John in me as well.
Yes, it's a good programme. And a clean skate as well. Those seem to be getting rarer and rarer.

Nanatoo! I thought she looked familiar. I've only seen the first season of Gavin and Stacey, though (Netflix doesn't have the rest), so I haven't seen her part in it... but now I'm going to be sad when I do.
It's always nice to see elders who don't just get grouchy and bitter. It's fantastic that she stayed active and presumably happy (what with all the comedy), so I'm sure hers was a life well lived. May she rest in peace.
I'm very visual. If I see it written down, there's a decent chance I will remember it. Although, I couldn't remember the twin's name, so my record may be tarnishing...
Close... Li Mei is an NPC. But close, for realsies. Mei Ling.
She's coming out of her skittishness more and more as she gets older. She wasn't nearly as scared of me, and now remembers me when I first come over. She came up on the couch and snuggled with me while my grandparents and I watched Batman Begins. Christopher Nolan movies and kittens makes for pleasant times.
I think they proved that someone with a small brain is more likely to be considered intelligent based on the fact that synapses need less time to carry information from one part of the brain to the next.
I think I'm just a little frustrated right now is all.
I hope David Tennant and Catherine Tate's "Much Ado About Nothing" will eventually be turned into a film like "Hamlet" was. lol. Otherwise, I won't get to see it. Unless someone puts it on youtube. But I wouldn't want people to be filming while the play's going on. XD
Heh, I've just bought a ticket for a local cinema screening Danny Boyle's Frankenstein live from the National Theatre. I wanted to see Rory Kinnear in Hamlet but the showing was the day before an exam.
I'd love to see more of these shows but London is still far away even though I'm on the same landmass. -_-
I don't see any dates for Glasgow on the website and Phill is only on the tour until June. It's playing in my hometown at the end of the month- I could try and send one of my parents? XD
That's a decent enough plan, Kat

I wish I could have seen the original production, with Tim Curry in the lead...
