"L?" She gave a puzzled look then. "Not short for anything? It seems like an initial... Unless you spell it e-l-l or something..." It was an odd name. She knew of letter names like Elle or Dee Dee, Jay, Or even CJ, but L... It was awkward. She didn't say so out of being polite.

Karin looked at her watch as the two covert sated.

"No, it's spelled just like the letter. Weird, huh?" L stopped staring at the ceiling and turned his gaze back towards Tauna. "Anyways, you two were going to show me my room, right?" He changed the subject quickly.

"Yes we are, um L?" Karin said as she began to walk toward the dorms. "Your name is very unique."

"Thanks," L said, following Karin. "I'll assume that's a compliment."

Tauna just nodded in agreement to Karin as she didn't know what else to say about the topic. She followed the subject of the rooms then instead. "Yeah... Rooms. I have no idea where they are either... I could go searching myself, but I may get lost..." She giggled or chuckled as she said that as she picked up her suitcase and started to follow behind them as well.

Karin looked at L for a second and smiled," Well your assumption was correct." She passed by the girl dorms which were left of the boys. " I know where it is at because I went the wrong way, my first time here."

"At least it's a good way to find everything... Or anything... Wandering around helps sometimes it seems..." She wandered all the time at home and got lost quite frequently. She knew what it felt like. "I probably would have done the same thing..."

"I might have gotten lost too," L admitted. He nibbled on his thumb nail almost nervously, staring at the floor now as he walked.

"Or walk into something... I somehow remember walking into a closet when I was younger. Much younger. Maybe five years ago. Thought it was a small bedroom or something. The door was closed in the hallway before approaching it so it was hard to tell until it was opened." She was somehow not embarrassed by the story since she barely remembered it.

L smiled a bit at the thought. "I remember one time when I was younger, I found what I thought was a secret underground passageway. I crawled into it in hopes of finding treasure. It was dark in there, and the dark is one of my phobias. As I was just about to leave, I bumped my head on the way-too-low ceiling and something fell on my nose. It started to crawl up my face. It was a spider, another one of my phobias. I ran out of there, screaming. Later on, my guardian explained to me that it was a cellar, not an underground passageway."

((I was gone camping for the week. No internet access.))

The story made Tauna giggle a bit as the part about the spider was told. It was followed by a slight shutter soon after as she too was afraid of spiders. Not so much the dark though. She didn't know why, but her eyes adjusted quickly to it.
She stopped shuttering enough to say something. "I... I'm afraid of spiders, too... They're gross and creepy and icky. Especially the big furry ones and the ones made of plastic..." She hated those the most. That included squeaky ones.

L shivered a bit too at the mental images of giant spiders. He had always been terrified of those 8-legged freaks.

((It was fun. Till I got "eaten" by mosquitoes and sunburned... :P))

At the same time Tauna shuttered again as the thought of gigantic furry ones and plastic squeaky ones the size of her face came into view. There was a moment of silence as she couldn't bring herself to say anything.

((Awww. D: Well, I'm glad you have fun despite the mosquito bites. Also, if it makes you feel any better, I was outside with my friends last night until 9:30, and I now have tons of itchy red mosquito bites.))

L decided to try to break the silence he had caused. "S-so..." He began, but all he could really bring himself up to say was, "do you like cats?"

((Nah. I'm more concerned about the sun burns than anything else...))

Tauna felt like they'd been walking a long time and wasn't sure where she was now. Was it close? Did they get lost? She didn't know. She snapped out of it to hear the question. "Yeah. I like cats. I have a pet cat with angel wings back home."

((Yeah.))

L grinned. "That's good. Because, I'm kinda... part cat..." His tail which had previously been dragging limply across the ground perked up a bit, swaying as he walked. His ears that had been flattened and pretty much hidden also turned skyward, so that they were completely visible now.

Tauna took a closer look as she'd been so distracted as to where they were right then, she wasn't really looking at the person she was talking to. She thought at first meeting that she faintly saw something pointy like tips of ears on the sides on his head, but they were so flattened, they looked like a part of his hairstyle. The tail she noticed as she had a tenancy to look at her feet when she walked. She just thought it part of his leg or a loose hanging belt... She giggled at that thought briefly, holding her hand as a fist with her index finger to her lips. It was a silly thought.

L's ears quickly flattened again, his tail once more falling so that it was dragging behind him. "I try to seem as normal as possible... if this tail could somehow be hidden, I'm sure I'd look like a human," He said with a small smile.

"Why? I think the cat appearance is cute!" She placed the bag down on the floor she'd been carrying and removed her coat turning towards him. On her back were folded white feathery wings almost looking like they'd been pasted down. The jacket was baggy enough to hide any lumps that may have shown if under a tighter fitting coat. Right now they were resting, but she could unfold them to full length. She couldn't use them yet, but it was a start. "See? I have these. They were hidden till now, but later on they'll be showing all the time. Mostly like they are now since they're too big to walk with, but still... I like them. So you shouldn't be embarrassed about how you look. It's the way you were born."

L's cat ears perked up again in interest. "I like your wings. Can you fly with them?" He asked, cocking his head to the side a bit, his ears swiveling so that he had the perfect curious kitten expression.

"Heh. Cute!" She noticed the cute kitten look and became all lovey dovey with it. She couldn't help it. Cute things made her all hyper-like. She restrained herself from pouncing on him, though.
She calmed down to answer his question soon after. "Nah... I can't fly yet. I've tried, but after a while it hurts falling from trees..." She sweatdropped as she said that. "I'm hoping to get better and be able to after getting some lessons here, though."

"Well, at least it's a start," L said, fighting back the urge to purr. "I'm not able to turn into an actual cat yet, but apparently my Mom used to be able to. So I was hoping that this place would help me learn how," He said with a smile. "It sure has gotten my Mom out of trouble in the past."
