I used to live across the street from a family of drug addicts. They were in many ways bad neighbors, but the worst was the fact that we could hear them screaming and swearing, from across the street and through closed doors, at their one year old baby, on a several-times-daily basis, sometimes for over an hour per go.
Loud noise and general raucousness I'll grumble about, but having to bear witness to them ruin a kid like that...
I'm glad I don't live near them anymore.

mmm most of my neighbors are cool... they're usually quiet and polite and/or keep to themselves ... there's occassional annoying things you might get from neighbors like mowing lawns at the crack of dawn or yelling at kids now and then, but not constantly but it's a nice neighborhood...
but there used to be this one neighbor we had when I was younger who lived a little further down our block near friend #1's house... we were hanging out with our other friend (friend #2) and she's a big hawaiian girl and we were just being goofy and I don't remember what we were doing but that neighbor had been a particular jerk to friend #1... it's been a long time I don't remember why he was but anyway... we were goofing off and friend #2 ran up to his front yard and he had just planted some tulips and friend #2 pretended to eat one of them XD ahaha
she had a red milk cap for some reason and was using that as like a prop and the neighbor comes yelling out his door, "Don't eat my flowers you dumb moose!" and we were like O__O "OH HELL NO!" ... and after some cursing we trued to explain to him that she didn't harm any of his ugly flowers but he wouldn't listen and friend #1's parents got invovled and he finally apologized but being the jerk he was he didn't mean it ... it's nice he doesn't live there anymore XD

The neighbors directly beside my house are both decent, but the house behind us has been pretty bad at times. The wife and husband fight a lot, they drink and they yell at each other usually around 1am. She screams that he's cheating, and he yells his denial, and it just escalates. If I'm not still awake, I never hear it though. [Deep sleeper.]
And then a couple houses down, there's a woman who has at least two children, a girl and a boy, probably between 7 and 10 years old, but I'm not really sure. Anyway, the kids are always up at screaming at about 7am, now they have to go to school [thank god], but everyone morning during the summer they got up super early and would play in the pool. And they would scream, a few times I really thought the girl was really hurt.... x.X It really scared me, because I know nobody really watches them when they play.
And I wasn't awake for when our neighbor across the street passed away, but it was really late at night and his daughter had come to visit him. Apparently he had hit his head or something and their was quite a bit of blood. But she was screaming in the midle of the street at the top her lungs... She was pretty hysterical and It woke my mom up, she called 911 and went out to help her and see what was wrong. I never woke up, but that was really sad cause he was a nice guy.

My current neighbours are okay. It's a man and on occasion his girlfriend. The only noise they realyl make, is laughing really loudly sometimes, which i can put up with, as i know how my laugh would sound.
I swear on the odd occasion i've heard them having sex too.
The only other things that annoy me about him, is that he often uses a BBQ, the smoke and smell of which is pretty much below my window. I have to close it, as i can't stand the stink. The same goes for when he's smoking outside. Generally though, i've nothing major to complain about. Those on the other side are three nurses, who make very little noise at all. We hardly know we've got neighbours.

Most of my neighbors aren't to bad. Except for this summer when one couple split up and he got a new girl friend. They put up a pool in their back yard, that's fine. Well. they also used a radio back there, loudly, and never turned it off. It was on all day and night. My husband told them if they were not going to listen to it to turn it off and they finally did. Now if they can only teach their dogs to be quiet. I know dogs bark. I have had a few myself, but man. These dogs are just agh!!

I know what you mean Tiger, nextdoor's dog always barks like crazy. And I dont mean normal barking, I mean yapping and whelping. XD
Aw man, some of these stories are so sad. Especially the one post that focused on her dog.
*pats*
Just last night my neighbors started fighting again, heaps of slamming and smashing and then a car pulled out of their driveway, sped off and crashed a few meters down the street. D:

Uggg Funny story as I am reading this I get a bad neighbor walking up and hitting my window >.< Uggggg I live in a dorm and not just any one the all girls one...so the boys think it is funny to mess with it. Not to mention it is a freshman dorm so they are all oversexed, underage drunk pains in my ass.....normally I am up on the top floors but this year I got a bad draw on housing and have to suffer with a ground floor one... I think that is horrible as I sit on both the stair and door and a bathroom, talk about a triple whammy for things you should avoid. Most these kids like to yell and let the door slam and it has come to be my dearest wish to rig a 5 gallon with water in it to drop on peoples heads when they do so.
As for the people living next to me I must be the bad one as I like to be up late and make noise(Music and my alarm)...>>;;; ah well, least I cut it out by the appointed hours and I think they are NEVER home...

Am i the only one thats bothered because they bark in the morning? its constant to they seem to bark at every thing. Its not that bad in the morning but the mailbox is right next to the house were the dogs are and every time me or someone else cheek the mail they bark like crazy.

I can't wait for my neighbours to move!
The lady upstairs is nice, but the people renting downstairs, not so much.
They are always outside, most of the time smoking.
and we took down our basketball net because they kept playing with it
They aren't light, and they might break it.
The lady who lives upstairs is trying to sell the house.
But I think the buyer doesn't want to rent to the others downstairs.
I'm not quite sure, but I hope they sell soon.

Aagh, CupCake Fairy, I know how that is.
My room is right next to the wall in-between our house and our only side - to - side neighbors (we live on a corner). Now, their dogs were annoying, small, and yappy. And not normal yappy, oh no, that's too easy. These dogs would go berserk when a car drove down the street, or when the gardener would come within 12 feet of our driveway (and the driveway isn't all that short, either). My bed is right next to the window that shows the wall, and those dogs would do this every morning (and it was summer, so I could sleep in, too.) They'd wake me up every day consistently at about 5 in the morning.
My mum ended up complaining to the neighbors, to which they did nothing.
The next time she asked them to put up a fence so they couldn't get right next to my window, she said that the next time she'd call the police.
Within a week, they'd built a fence.

That must be extremely annoying. D: I'm like, the family that has someone under the age of 12 out of my whole street aside two other families. Mine is full of old people with their children moved out already. And if you were ever to be in the house with me, it's not me nor my 8 yrs old sister screaming, it's my mom. >> But we sibs do yell sometimes. Last for five mins and one huffs away after.

well, the day before i went to college (just a few days ago) i am busy trying to get everything ready to go. there is a knock at our (my family's) door and it is a neighbor who has talked to us once in about a year. Her husband was trapped in their garage. a couple of days before he broke the garage door (i didn't ask how), and while he was in the garage he managed to get the lock of the door jammed. so i needed to take the door off the hinges and dismantle the door knob (it had a dead bolt) to lift the door out of the door way. then instead of just letting me go peacefully they talked on and on about their family and stuff for 30 minutes.

Awee, I feel very sorry for you.
I would've just ignored that kid and not get it but say "YOU WANT IT!? DON'T KICK IT OVER HERE NEXT TIME! D<"
But my neighbours are university students D;
In the school time it's very noisy, since they have a lot of parties, especially when it's the end of the year for them and i'm still in school.
But now since it's the summer they move out, so it's not that loud.
Anyways, when they have parties it's really loud, one time at like midnight they're party was still going on, and I heard the guys throw the girls into this pool, but funny thing is, that I didn't think they had a pool, unless it was an inflatable pool.
Cuz the girls were shreiking and stuff.
Anyways, the next morning their was garbage all over the place, even on my side of the house.
My parents got really pissed, that they threw the garbage back onto they're side.
And they always park they're car on the front of my house.
And sometimes they park so close, that it's hard to see if theirs any cars coming or not rite?
Well my dad was so pissed that he wanted to go and kill they're car.
Trust me it was a nice car, a porche suv o___o;;
Well it would be they're fault for parking too close. xD
And for the other neighbour, they are better, but one time when it was winter and like my driveway was like clean and stuff, cuz we actually shoveled the snow and stuff, and like the other neighbours came and parked they're car in our driveway without any permission.
Rude rite?
Of course.
So my mom goes and tells them and like their excuse was "Oh, they're was too much snow." well duh! GO FRICKEN SHOVEL IT! D<
Anyways, yup. xD

Bad neighbors? Ooh, boy. XD;
Everyone who knows me by now knows that my mother and I don't exactly get along well. Actually, it's more like...I hate her guts, she hates mine; she's not even really my mother.
But there is ONE thing left that we TOTALLY agree on...and that's that OUR NEIGHBORS SUCK ASS.
Thank GOD the worst are rarely around; they're just here for a few random weeks in summer - weeks when the houses aren't rented out (they're vacation rentals). The absolute WORST are the owners of some of the MANY vacation rentals around us.
I grew up totally surrounded by neighbors coming and going. We couldn't just up and leave because we can't afford to move anywhere but here in our town even if we sell the house, not to mention there's a bad housing shortage (driving up costs even MORE) AND this house means a lot to us. But because of its location, people put these vacation rentals all around...and we get some AWFUL people sometimes, but never anyone worse than the owners of the one next door.
They THREATEN us because we kindly ask them to respect our space. For instance, we have a sign outside to ask the literally HUNDREDS of new neighbors know that we don't want them smoking around here - my mother is a lung cancer patient, and I'm at high risk due to family history and the fact that I've been exposed to high concentrations of secondhand smoke my whole life. We've tried wording the sign a MILLION ways to keep from offending the neighbors and KEEP IT ON OUR OWN PROPERTY.
The first time I got yelled at for it, it said "This is the home of a lung cancer patient - if you must smoke, please do so at a respectable distance from here." Apparently it's "rude" to be so "impersonal" when we HAVE NEW NEIGHBORS EVERY WEEK. Apparently we're supposed to greet the new people every week - all ~25 of them total.
Another time, very recently, we had the sign say "Please do not smoke near here." Asshats erased the "do not." I took a dry erase marker and wrote it back...but I was tempted to find whoever did it and SHOVE THE MARKER UP HIS/HER NOSE.
Though that's not the extent of it, oh hell no. Counting ALL the neighbors together now (including them), they've yelled at us for having a "dangerous pit bull" (she's a pound rescue mutt who wouldn't deliberately hurt ANYONE even if they pulled her ears to the point they almost came off), yelled at me for practicing my guitar (in the middle of the day, when they make louder and more obnoxious noises in the middle of the NIGHT - they also trespassed on our property to yell at me and threatened to call the cops on me [that was so because of my piercings, I know it XD]), and have even threatened to beat us up or blow smoke in our faces.
We have declared war on our neighbors. Our strategy is to be nice to them though...make everyone see what asshats they really are. Their true colors WILL show. And when they get their asses arrested (which they will sooner or later), we will laugh. >3

Our neighborhood has kids and they're always outside playing when I'm trying to nap =_= That or someone has to mow their yard at that time too. Early Saturday mornings are the worst when I can sleep in and have the afternoon shift at work. I don't like my neighborhood XP The neighbors are ok though. I hardly see them.

My neighbors actually aren't too bad. One of them is really obsessed with mowing his lawn though(and us mowing our lawn). Once our lawn was pretty bad and instead of telling us we should mow it he called my grandparents to complain to them. That was pretty weird...but really, that's nothing compared to noisy neighbors. I'm sorry you have to put up with that. I'd be annoyed more with the parents than the kids though...they're the ones that are teaching them to be that way. You should check your state laws about when people aren't allowed to be noisy...I'd be inclined to call the police on the people who are having loud arguments at midnight.
