Marissa was at the Resistance's Headquarters, her small slender frame was hunched over the computer screen. Her pink hair was tied in a ponytail as the latest data on the schremz was received and processed. It didn't seem all that promising that they will come closer to a cure. In fact, it seems that it would be a long time before the even come close to a breakthrough. She sighed and wanted to bang her head against the computer screen, but thought better of it. She stretched, and stared blankly ahead. I need more samples for this to be further analyzed she thought. She shook her head, she was hardly allowed to move away from the headquarters.

"I really need some fresh air," she grumbled under her breath, as she moved towards another section of the headquarter building.

Cain looked at her as she made that disgusted look, knowing that he would most likely do the same thing in her shoes. He paused, "The female..... Does not do a lot of controlling.... Brutus sadly keeps his fist floating above her head in times of decision making...." he paused, "He is a rather abusive individual.... And the woman has been beaten to near death many times.... It makes me want to destroy Brutus..... But.... I don't know...." he paused and crossed his arms.

His eyes met with hers as she seemed in pain. Cain, who was no good with medical treatment, walked over to her and placed a hand on her shoulder, "Should I take you to the camp? There are a few make-shift beds for the night, you can have mine, it is a lot better than the ground."

[i would rp with you sakurahana, but i would end up monopolizing the rp if i made another character just for you... and i sometimes end up rping with myself.... and that is never fun for me... lol XD..... but you can come join us if you want^^]

She tried to hide away the pain on her face as she sat up a little and glanced over sideways at Cain. "I don't mind sleeping on the ground it's where I have spent many of my nights and I have come to love the natural feeling of it. Trust me I'm good at making my own bed out of the things around me."
Forcing herself to stand, she got up and said, "Any ways I bet you could beat him, any one like that is bound to be way over confident about them self. All that will lead to is his downfall" She grinned at him beaming with confidence, "Heck I bet I could even beat him!" She laughed at her self knowing it was very unlikely but with her different fighting style who knows?
"Ok!" she said as she stretched out her legs and cringing a few times at the sore spots on her muscles. "Lets go."

[bleh we need more people so that she's not alone as she RPs with us. I would help her but due to my just joining I don't really have any friends :sweat:]

Cain nodded as she spoke, smiling as she mentioned how she always slept on the ground, "Yeah.... sometimes it feels good.... but we are in rocky territory.... I can't sleep on it..." he said, smiling at her as she spoke with confidence.

He highly respected this, finding a whole new side liking this woman as she spoke like this. "I'm sure you could easily if it was a charm competition, a fist fight, you might have a harder time, but i'm sure you could do it..." He laughed loudly and smiled, "As for me... Well.... I maybe could, but I never take pride in my strength.... People have said that my powers of negotiation are enough to cause someone to break... My powers with words.... Which is odd, considering that I was a body builder when i was a human..." he sighed, memories of the past flooding his mind, "Alright... I'll show you to the camp..." he said, walking, but staying close to her just in case she lost her balance.

[yeah, i'm new as well... technically.... i've only been here about a month. I's got two friends :3]

She followed him to the camp watching her footing more than anything else but only out of the corner of her eye, she didn't want to make any one think she was completely worn out from racing over the land.
Snickering a little now as she spoke, "I think right now I could sleep anywhere as long as I was laying down some where!"
Then she changed and looked serious as she spoke, "You don't have to take pride in strength when fighting to stop some one who you think is wrong in his ways." she paused thinking of her brother who used to protect her from any one but always hated to fight, this is where she got the idea from and it made her smile slightly and feel glad that he was in Japan at the time of this outbreak.
She whispered quietly, so quietly that it was hard for her to even hear herself as she said, "I hope he's safe.", she caught her self as she felt her mood lessen and tried to smile again, but instead tripped over her own feet and let out a small squeak of surprise.

Cain smiled as she spoke, finding her voice quite enjoyable, normally used to hearing absolutely nothing. He nodded as she spoke, "Of course I don't.... I didn't say i was at all weak, i just.... don't think that is my best ability...." he smiled, feeling the atmosphere change as she grew quiet for the moment, hearing a quiet mumble, he was about to ask what the noise was, but not before seeing her stumble.

Cain acted quickly, sliding in front of her and catching her by the shoulders before she could hit the ground, he looked directly at her, "... Hey.... are you okay?" Was the first thing Cain said as he held her there, not wanting her to become hurt as long as he was here.

Opening her eyes and gaining her barrings again she put her feet under herself again standing as she replied trying to seem cheery again, "Yea I'm fine just tripped a little is all. Thanks for catching me though." She looked at the ground for the first real time noticing how uneven it was and then said again more thoughtful than anything else, "Hmmm... It seems the ground is more rough than I thought it was and wasn't paying attention." Looking back up at him she grinned, and she hoped it was convincing enough knowing that she wasn't ever realy good at making people believe her.

Cain sensed a bit of doubt in her voice, something that clouded even her attempt to wear that cheery mask. "Watch your step...." he said, ending that part, "That is all I can say.... Although.... something does seem to be on your mind...." he said as he looked at her with care an concern, ".... Come.... You can talk to me.... Unless well... I'm mistaken..." he said, his hands still resting on her shoulders to keep her steady.

She looked away for a second thinking about it wondering what to say, then looked back with a sincere face. "I'm just thinking about some people who i'm worried about... and I guess I'm just tired." She thought about telling him about how much her legs hurt as she walked and how she had issues keeping her balance due to them and not the ground, she looked down at them as she thought. Not wanting to cause him to worry about her she looked back at him again and giving him a small smile she said, "Don't worry I will be fine after some rest!"

Cain nodded as she spoke, understanding exactly how that feels, although he seemed worried the entire time. He spoke again, a bit softer, almost a whisper, knowing she had great pride. "I know your legs hurt..... Alright.... How about this..... Think nothing of it... But I suggest you stay off your legs until you can properly use them again.... how about I lift you...." he paused, knowing it must be hard for her, so he added something to the end of it, "I know you are full of pride... but everyone needs help sometimes... I won't think of you as any less.... I know you are strong.... so how about I help you...?"

Surprised by what he said she looked at him with a slightly shocked expression, no one ever really caught onto what she was hiding usually mostly because they didn't care. almost as fast as she had looked at him she looked away thinking about it. Then carefully she said back to him, "I just..." she paused looking for how to say it then continued, "I just don't want to trouble you. It can't be to far away I think I can make it." giving a small smile she wondered exactly how far they had to go still.

Cain smiled and looked at her as he spoke, "You forget I have a lot of stamina..." he said with a small laugh, taking her up off the ground quickly, "Don't fret.... We have less than a mile to go..." he said, continuing to walk, "And it will be no trouble at all.... Trust me..." he returned her smile at the end of his words, his eyes already catching hold of the camp ahead.

nervous about being carried she holds fairly tight to Cain, "thanks" she mostly mumbled as she looked on ahead and noticed what she thought to be the camp but couldn't concentrate enough to tell. As he carried her she relaxed slightly trusting that he wouldn't drop her and that he wouldn't have to deal with this to long, and just looked up to watch the sky some as she thought about her family at home hopping nothing has reached them yet.

[lol it's ok XD I wondered what happened to you I just went and took my shower :lol: I figured you'd be back when I was done or you wouldn't and we'd just continue tomorrow :3)

Marissa took her needles from the drawer from her room, and secured it on her. She then took a small backpack and walked out of the Resistance building. The backpack contained test tubes and other scientific equipment to collect samples. She walked to the 'reception' area. It wasn't really a reception if you called it that. But mainly a place where they had to sign in and out of the building. That way, they kept track of who left, and who could have 'caught' the virus.

She gave a small nod to the bored receptionist and walked out. She had be careful now and on her guard. The needles she carried had small amount of tranquilizer, but she had no idea whether it would actually penetrate the schremz's skin. Her footsteps made little noise as she made her across her area.

Cain continued to walk and held her tightly, to be sure not to drop her. He nodded as she thanked him, knowing she felt uneasy about being held like this, but he did not mind, and she hoped she would eventually stay comfortable. Another hope was that he would not have his head ripped off for bringing a newcomer.

It did not take long before a small crowd gathered around Cain, one of the larger one stepping forth, he spoke in a commanding tone. "Alright! Who is this woman!?" questioned the large Schmerz as he looked upon her. Cain answers confidently, "Brutus.... This is my friend.... She wishes to join our group... Her name is..." Brutus held up a hand, silencing Cain, "She will tell me her name when she is good and ready to.... Not that it really matters at this moment...." he looked at the woman, "You better be able to fend for yourself.... I am Brutus... And I accept no slacking in my troop!" he said to almost a shout. Cain did not like the feel of this, angrily responding, "Do not shout at her... She is staying with me.... And your so-called authority can do nothing about it..." Cain pushed Brutus aside and sat her upon his own cot, turning to see Brutus unload a fist toward the back of his head, it was too late, Cain hitting the ground with a heavy thud, then looking upon the woman, he laughed, "... Such imbiciles who attempt to oppose me will only face death... This is a warning Cain... If I catch you undermining my authority again, my next punch will be your last...." Brutus stepped away shortly after, Cain unmoving as he laid there face down upon the ground.

Upon seeing Cain hit she jumped and moved into a defensive position trying to keep herself from letting the low growl rise up at him as she does many times when feeling threatened. Shouting at Brutus and a small amount of the growl surfacing, "My name is Shinara and it does matter" she spoke loudly with the authority that she used when she was once an alpha herself, and continued to glare deeply at him as she went to aid Cain.
"Cain are you alright?" she asked him in a soft, caring tone as she carefully lifted him off the ground and ignored the pain in her legs worrying more about Cain, and the hit he took, than herself.

[Don't worry about it I will also be doing some home work to night >_< I've got a lot more of it tonight than usual.]

Brutus made a rather annoyed sound, looking straight into her eyes, "I'll tell you when you are worth a name... Until then you are nothing..."

Cain felt a sudden movement, despite being in a dazed state from the punch, coming back to earth as soon as he no longer felt the ground below him. At first, he panicked only twitching his head upward and seeing Shinara, no longer worried for her, but at the moment his head was bleeding, split open by the heavy fist of Brutus.

Cain blushed greatly as he felt himself within her arms, covering the bleeding section of his head, acting as though he was entirely used to this, he still felt the pain, "I'm fine..... are you alright?" he said, expressing concern despite the bleeding head. "Gah... I should have seen that coming.... I was just..... concerned.... he had a look toward you of hate.... he doesn't like newcomers...." he sighed, "At least he didn't touch you..."

[it's not to bad, just some advanced English stuff due in 2 days >_< and then some easy math and history:P]
forcing herself to stop glaring she looks back down at Cain and notices how horrible the bleeding is tries to cover it some more. although she gives one shout back to Brutus not even caring if he hears her but refusing to back down, "You wouldn't think I was nothing if you were the one on the ground rather than Cain." forcing herself to calm down at the horrible memories this brought back to her she tried to breath normally and regain her self in a kind voice and spoke back to Cain looking at him directly, "This is a horrible time to worry about me!" she takes off the bandages from one arm that she wears just in case she needs them and starts to wrap Cains head around the area it was hurt. "Guess I'm going to have to be more alert than I thought I would have to be, I should have expected some resistance to me joining." she continued to very carefully wrap his head like she had so many times to her brother when she was human.

[lol.... math, english, history..... all subjects i'm pretty good at :P, tell me if you think i can help XD]
Cain looked up to her and smiled a bit, "There is always a time to worry for others..... in your condition..... your legs.... Shouldn't it go the other way as well?" Cain joked a bit, despite the blood flowing out of his head. Cain sighed, "Well.... Don't worry about it.... Brutus is just..... a Brute.... Everyone else shouldn't have a problem outside of those who just kiss his eyes.... and you can easily kick them around...." He said with a smile, enjoying himself as he laid there now, feeling very relaxed, ".... Thank you...Shinara...." He whispered to her, looking up to her with a smile as his hands laid lazily at his sides.

[lol math and history were pretty easy it's just English that I have to make 2 small essays about the crucible >_< oh well... *runs around and points at random people* WITCH :lol:]
she looked at him with worried eyes then smiled, "I think gushing blood is a little more important than stubborn legs." she laughed at the small joke he made then mumbled a little bit, "Brutus needs to be kicked around by some one else for a little bit." She bit her lip frustrated that she wouldn't be strong enough to fight any one with his strength. then watching him carefully she spoke softly again to him, "Your welcome, you did carry me here so this is the least I can do to repay you. just rest for a while your going to need it with the amount of blood you've lost." glad that she had taken first-aid classes many times as a human she watched him and tied of the bandages noticing that she finally made the blood stop flowing.
"Good" she whispered .

Cain smiled as she finished the bandages, using her leverage to pull himself up with his hands on her shoulders, "Thank you very much.... and don't feel yourself necesary to return the favor.... simply do it only of your own wishes....." he said with a smile, something in the back of his mind.

"I know this seems kind of random...." he paused for a moment, "But I am wondering.... Were you willingingly turned? That is how I kept my emotions.... I saw the end of the human race.... and got weak.... I had nobody really left.... so maybe..... this would have been a new adventure for me... Or.... I just wanted to belong to something.... I guess...." he paused entirely, "I really don't know.... But.... Were you?"

[Yea and the puritans are so crazy in the book! really I mean a human is going to catch a "witch"? did they really believe that "God" aloud them to?]

She paused for a moment thinking back to when she was turned. "Ever since I was little I wanted to be something more than human... I've never been normal and when I was given the choice I thought It would make me greater and more evolved, I thought that It was a good thing to happen. I never expected this." she motioned to Cains head and around the camp. "This was the kind of thing I watched humans do and wanted to free myself from. I always hated the way humans lived though strength and fear, in many ways we're the same as them... Not exactly what I hoped for." She shrugged and watch him while he lifted himself ready to catch him and then made a smug smile in the irony that only a little while ago he was doing the same.

[religious insanity is hilarious when you read it in a book.... XD.... I would reccomend reading the Scarlet Letter as well XD.... great book that is also based in puritan years]

Cain nodded, "No matter where you go.... as long as corruption still exists..... We are no better than what we were...." he sighed as he looked up to her, "I only wish we could survive on each other without being at each other's throats.... its distressing really.... Humans killed my former love...... 2 years ago.... when i first became a Schmerz.... my love followed me..... she didn't last long... the Resistance slaughtered her..... I still think of her to this day.... and I honor her death..... every year..."

[hmmm... I'll have to check it out! It's so fun to read how silly their ideals were :lol:]
Shinara listened and nodded her head in agreement as he spoke, then at the note of humans killing his former love her expression turned grave. "I don't know if it was really love that I had, I mean I was more power hungry than anything and didn't understand but... It was when I was still fairly new and the one who changed me was an alpha. He coaxed me into changing for him and becoming an alpha. It was fairly easy. My speed was brilliant compared to the others and no one knew what to do about it, I simply dodged and made quick blows to them as I ran some times with this." She pointed to the staff strapped to her back. It had an old look to it but was fairly simple and mostly metal. then she pulled it out and held it fairly close to her, "It was a family heirloom my father gave to me to carry as proof of my family to my grand mother, she had never met me before and needed something she would recognize about me." She sat there tracing the patterns on one end of it. "I never thought I'd use it to fight with and didn't realize it till I was. It works well to make up for my lack of arm strength, though I don't fight much with it any more. It's been more of a keepsake for me now. Any ways," she continued, "other Schmerz killed him fighting to be alpha male. They got carried away and our group ended up going haywire afterwords and everyone who survived split up." She glanced at the ground remembering how it happened and shivered at the memory.

Cain sighed and looked up to her as she spoke, placing a hand on her face, he smiled up to her, "You are strong..... do not let anybody tell you otherwise...." he stopped and pulled his hands away, "You've been through so much.... Yet you don't give up.... I'm sorry that you have been through this pain...." He sighed, laying there, his eyes started to drift, as though he suddenly was growing tired.
