i think really the only thing i might judge by name or avi is if the name is something like user_8192 i might think they're very young. as for avi, i don't think twice.

Good thing I don't judge an avi by his cover, Dementes...otherwise I might be afraid of you! :)

I'm really freakishly fussy with usernames. I don't like underscores, I don't like dodgy capitalisation... generally, I just get really annoyed with usernames that aren't just straightforward one-or-two word deals. Maybe I'm just dismally uncreative. :|
I'm also a mite weird when it comes to grammar and spelling. I mean like, I usually type more how I speak than anything, so my own grammatical correctness usually leaves a lot to be desired. With spelling, because I'm too lazy to bother with downloading a spell-check for Firefox, I more or less just spell it how it sounds and hope for the best. So I don't really mind it when people seem to be doing stuff like that, and I don't really mind it when people use chatspeak or whatever you want to call it (but I usually assume they're like under the age of 15 or over the age of 30.)
Avatars that don't match annoy me a little because I'm one of those people who just wont put anything other than the default underwear on her avatar until she's got a matching outfit. I'm like, "it's not that hard to colour co-ordinate" when I see messy avatars.
So basically yeah, I judge people on the internet, in a nutshell. xD

But what if they're just trying to be flashy? One person's idea of not matching is another person's idea of cool....

Hmm, well I am an avid roleplayer. And the thing that pester me the most are people's literacy skills. If they can't string a proper sentence, I don't want to communicate to them. People's username give away a lot about themselves. You can tell how they'll write after a glance at their user.

Sadi: I don't do much role playing... I'm surprised to hear you say that communication skills are important. Guess I always thought that in role playing they used short-cut words (like OMG?).
If communications skills are important to most role players, maybe I should check them out sometime.

There's more kinds of roleplaying than leaves on the average tree... :XP
(Luckily - this way everybody can have fun simply by joining those that are to their own fancy.)
That's what those "literate"/"semiliterate"/"*emote*" in RPG descriptions are all about. I daresay Sadistix_Love is most definitely a fan of literate RPGs. ;)

I don't judge people by what their avatars wear, by the way that they type or their user name. I usually get my first impression by reading what they write in forums or by having a conversation with them.

I think I don't really judge people...or at least I try not to. I do how ever hate people that think they are better than everyone els, and that includes in RL or even online. And I happen to sometimes think less of people who never talk normally, like 'im gud, n y u so sad?' Just when they do it all the time it bothers me.

I get what you're
saying, and I agree.
I don't think that
your example is
"normal", though.
Most of the people
I know never type
like that, and I can't
recall ever talking
that way IRL.

~When you see X's, O's, Z's, numbers or underscores, do you think a little less of that user? Or think more when they have spaces and capitalization? What about when their name is a cosplay?
|
I do think a little less of the person because the X's are an unoriginal way of getting a username that is already taken. But I think really less of the person when there are tons of X's in the name.

~When they don't post with good grammar or spelling, do you think they're stupid?

Yes.

No, mismatch is cool.

~When their avatar does match, do you think they're rich or snooty?

No.

~Do you ever think another user is a nerd or has no life, or think they only watch MTV and tan until they're colored cancer, all because of how they post, how they dress, and not what they post?

Eh... What?

Sugar... I can't help it. Every time I read one of your posts I feel like I'm reading free hand poetry.... :)
