uh, I hated braces, so hard to keep your teeth clean. >.> I'm glad I only had mine for a couple years, then I got the clear retainer. I hate it.... but I don't want braces again so I try to wear it once a week XD it still fits surprisingly after such a long period

I always missed spots when I was trying to brush my teeth cause of those stupid things. >.<

Mmm. I never had braces before because my teeth are pretty straight. 0= I don't think I'd want braces. I know that some of my friends really want braces. However, most of my friends do or had braces. >___< I think braces can be cute depending on the person, but I think they would be very painful because I once saw my friend who had a lot of rubber bands in their braces strapped/hooked around the tiny hooks.

Gah, I hated the rubber bands! They used to snap in my mouth.

I am suprised that so many people want braces. When I had them in high school, no one wanted them. They were considered "uncool". Then, during the last year of high school, a boy who was in with the popular crowd got them and they became cool to have! Just made me laugh. I had mine removed before that thank god! I did not want them on for the Formal and Graduation.

Has anyone here ever had power chains? o.o

The first time I had it put on, I couldn't eat for like 3 days after that. I was living off of apple sauce, pudding, and jell-o. xD

ahh i just got mines tighten today! my teeth were awful before i got them DX...its worth it, no doubt about it! I got mines over a year ago, and i have a year left?? I hate the fact that you're in pain for 3-4 days...and that you can't eat lots of foods. the day i fot my top ones on, i was foolish enough to"try" to eat pizza...big mistake. lol. i'm happy with them, i got use to them, i may actually miss them when i get them off. i remember in the beginning half the food i ate ended up stuck in my braces! ewww...

but they are worth it. :D

I was supposed to get them on in the 6th grade. I got the molds done and everything, but right before the actual braces were being put on it was discovered that the particular ortho I was seeing wasn't covered by our insurance, and we just never found another.
I have no idea why my parents didn't check and see if the dentist was covered BEFORE sending me off. D:

But my teeth really aren't that crooked anyway. Not enough to bother me, so I don't care that I don't have them.

I'm just wondering...Since you can't brush where the braces are cemented, when they take them off...Will it be like brown? O.o

i had braces, didnt give me too much problem, i never needed to use wax

I had pretty bad teeth, i had an adult tooth coming in over the baby tooth that had yet to leave and all sorts of mish mash happening, had to the the retainer thing to push them all apart, that hurt worse the the braces, but i got over it. I remember the first night i wore my retainer prior to the braces, i cried cause i couldnt even eat mashed potatoes (the plastic covered all my back upper teeth) but i actually ended up getting braces alot sooner then was planned cause i wore holes in my retainer, the dentist was shocked i actually followed instructions lol

Right after i got mine off, like half of my friend got them put on, it was hilarious. i thought they were a load of fun, getting to pic colors and what not

oh and make sure you wear your retainers at night after braces! i lost mine years ago and now my teeth are slowly shifting T_T

and now it doesnt turn brown, your teeth just feel amazingly slippery, very odd

Nope, mine where nice and white. I guess no food and stuff gets through the cemented bits so they would not be discoloured.

@Sayhn: I lost my retainer pretty soon after I got the braces off. I'm just lucky that my teeth have stayed straight for 5 years since then. Except there is still a small gap between my two front teeth. It is much smaller than what it was before I had braces and hardly noticeable now. I was told the only way to get them closer together would be to "go under" and get the gum between my teeth cut! No thanks!

I had Invisalign in September of 2007. My teeth were horrendous all through my earlier years, but the dentists i saw never said braces were a must have.
When i changed for the third time, to my current dentist, he said i should either have teeth out, and metal braces or i could go with this relativly new technology.
Biggest waste of money i've ever been responsible for.

Yes my teeth are quite nice now, but only the top ones. Due to errors in communication, they wanted more money than we were willing to pay, to have both the top and bottom set, despite saying it would be okay to have them both for £1200. So in the end, i had just the top set, where my teeth were more noticeably misaligned.
I had 36 of the braces in total. Broke all but 3 of them, through general wear and playing with them...Which became a major vice in times of stress and boredom. The cement used to help them stay on, means that while you can't easily make out the brace, three of my teeth look like they're deformed.
I wouldn't recommend it. Stick with the metal ones.

I wore braces back when I was 20 years old. It hurt like hell for the first few weeks, and I couldn't chew stuff, but then a large piece that the dentist lodged behind my front teeth was removed and it was much more comfortable.

I don't think braces are disgusting... My best friend has them ^_^

I personally don't mind them, if I had to ever get them.
Of course, there'd probably be pain, but, it'll go away.
They're just designed to help your teeth, So, from what I've seen, they're surely worth it. o:

I got braces a few months ago. I don't think they're that bad. Just a little pain whenever I get them adjusted, and then it goes away. I had to get them because the space between me two front teeth wouldn't close, and later on I'm going to have to get the fiber or whatever there cut so they'll stay together. :o scary!!

Mine are ugly. I couldn't get the colored kind because they didn't want those for my teeth.

And I still have mine one and it's almost been three years.

BUT, I get them off may 5th! :D

I've luckily never had them. But If I did I wouldn't mind. My teeth are like a Brits. >.<

I read that there are fake braces for people who want to ear them for fashion reasons. I would like those. I would get Purple and Blue.

I got braces in the 8th grade, I got them off just last December (I'm in 10th grade now). I still have to wear a retainer, I'm glad I don't have braces, but I don't like having to take my retainer out to eat. I also have a second one I wear only at night.
