Emma was tired as she drove up her driveway, it had been a long day at the bar and her feet were aching. She was glad to be home as she walked up the steps. she pushed opened the front door after unlocking it, hoping that Lucky would rush uup to her and greet her. She felt a bit disappointed when he wasn't there and just figured he was sleeping. She went to the kitchen and at the sight of the mess dropped her purse and screamed. "What in the world?! Look at this mess! LUCKY!" Emma yelled. She was so mad, she didn't even wonder how he had gotten into the food. She stalked over to the couch, again so mad she didn't even realize the TV was on, and towered over him as he laid on the couch. "What did you do, Lucky!" She yelled, knowing that she wouldn't get an answer from him.

Luckett didn't hear her get up but jumped awake as she yelled at him and gave her a guilty confused look, as if he felt bad for something but he didn't know what so hopped off the couch, hoping she'd think that he'd assumed he was introuble for getting up on the couch. He knew what he done though and did feel bad for forgetting to clean up but it was too late. He held his head low with his ears back as he went over to her feet in a sideways manner with his tail tucked, wagging the very tip of it a little as he made a small semicircle around her and settled in front of her for a moment before getting up and going into the kitchen and going up on his hind legs to sniff the counter and the trash before going back down on all fours and looking up at her with a small whine, his ears still back, tail tucked and head down.

Emma was so angry that the house started shaking really bad and things started to fly off selves. When she looked at him, her anger disappeared and she slumped to the floor and wrapped her arms around him. "Sorry, Lucky-love. But you made such a mess. I don't even know how you got up on the counters!" She said, feeling very tired. She would have to clean up the mess but she wanted to go to bed. She buried her face into his neck, loving the feel of his soft fur. He smelled clean, like he had a bath. He almost smelled of her soap, she wondered if he had eaten any of it. "You smell nice, Lucky. You're such a clean dog." She said softly. Emma pulled away and ruffled his fur a little. "I'm going to have to clean that.. but it can wait until tomorrow. Now, promise me no more messes like that!" Emma sighed as she got up. She went into her room to change into her night gown. She didn't have to go into work until that evening tomorrow, so she could clean up and spend a little more time at home with Lucky. She'll have to make sure to leave his bowl full with food before she left for work. Emma hopped into bed and snuggled in, whislting for Lucky to join her.

Luckett listened to her and decided he wouldn't eat so much next time and would clean up as he went. He felt bad for having left the mess and even worse when she buried her face in his neck. He sneezed as if to say yes at her asking him to promise no more messes but refused to make her clean it up for him so no matter the consequences he waited until she left the room to get up on the counter, gathering the trash up and quickly getting it to the trash. When she whistled for him, he was fighting with a stubborn wrapper that didn't want to get into the trash so easily so it took a moment before he could leave. By that time he had gotten himself confused and wandered for a second before running into Emma's room and hopping on the bed with a big doggy smile and licked her cheek in apology. Oddly his breath smelled like mint instead of dog breath and he only hoped she wouldn't wonder too much about it. He'd been polite enough not to use her toothbrush but rather brushed his teeth with his finger and her toothpaste.

Emma sniffed as Lucky breathed on her. She sat up and looked at him strangely. "You must've gotten into my toothpaste or something, didn't you Lucky? You smell minty." Emma said, still looking at Lucky funny. There was something about this dog that she picked up. Something different, he didn't seem to act like most dogs she came in contact with. "what is it about you, Lucky? You're so diffrent." Emma murmmered as she laid back down and fell asleep.

When Emma woke up the next morning, she groaned at the though of cleaning up that mess from yesterday. She shuffled out of the bedroom and into her bathroom to shower and change. After her warm shower, Emma donned a pair of jeans and a white cottom tank top. When she went out to the kitchen she was shocked to find that most of the mess had already been cleaned up. "Was I dreaming last night?" She asked herself.

Luckett didn't care that she thought he was odd at the moment. Truth was he didn't do the whole dog thing very well and he knew it but he couldn't very well just shift in front of her so he just sneezed his laughter and settled at the foot of her bed, curling up to sleep.

When Emma woke Luckett just opened one eye then feel back asleep for a little while until he heard her get out of the shower. That's when he got off the bed and glanced in at her, sitting and watching her a moment before going into his dish and sitting beside it. When she came in the kitchen he didn't let her pause long before he gave a soft "woof." to bring her attention to his empty bowl.

Emma stood in the kitchen watching as Lucky moved his bowl around. She laughed softly at him and went to grab his food. "Alright, alright I'll feed you!" She said, scooping up some of the dry food and pouring it into the bowl. She went into the fridge and pulled out some leftovers and dumped it into his bowl. "Now that I'm off today, you can't get into trouble." She said, rubbing her hand through his fur. She smiled happily at him. Emma never realized how lonely she was until she brought home Lucky. Something about him made her feel at ease and her nightmares have seemed to eased slightly.

Emma shook her head as she prepared herself a small bowl of oatmeal and sat down at the couch to eat it. She sat eating her oatmeal, wondering what she should do for the day. "Oh...maybe I can talk Lucky for a walk. That'd be a good idea." She said to herself.

The man-dog stared at the dry food distastefully when it was placed in his bowl but after the leftovers were placed in he set into his food with vigor, pleased by the leftovers he'd gotten. It was more than any owner in the past had offered him. He was beginning to feel that maybe he could get used to this life. When she rubbed him his tail wagged but he resisted the drunken expression his face tried to take, focusing on his food instead.

He was soon finished, his bowl licked clean, and trotted into the next room with Emma to settle down at her feet just as any dog would.

Emma sat up to pet Lucky as he came to lay at her feet. "Do you want to go for a walk, Lucky?" She asked him, scratching behind his ears. She patted the couch, wanting him up there next to her. "Come on boy, up on the couch." She said. She loved his soft fur and the comfort he brought her. "I was thinking we'd go to a dog park and play. Does that sound like fun?" She asked him, hoping to get some sort of reaction from him.

Luckett sat up at the mention of the dog park and wagged his tail with thuds on the floor. Much to his chagrin, his leg began twitching when she scratched behind his ear. He lept up on the couch beside her and flopped down on the cushion with a huff, looking at her with his unusual colored eyes as his tail wagged more. His eyes seemed to say 'Yes, I'd love that.'

Emma giggled at him and buried her face against his neck. She understood him and knew he would love to go play at the dog park. "Alright, boy! Let's go." She said, hopping up off the couch and going to get his leash. She came back to the couch and leaned forward in front of him, clipping the leash onto his collar. She had a little bit of a hard time getting it hooked on there, her chest pressed closer to his muzzle as she worked the clasp open and then clipped it on. "There." She said with a large smile as she stood back up, pulling her tank top down just a little. She picked up a bright green tennis ball and bounced it on the floor a couple of times. "Ready to go?" She asked him, giving his leash a soft tug.

Luckett panted happily in the fashion of a dog, or rather an extremely dog like wolf. As she bent to clip the leash to his collar his control over his second form was tested as he got a muzzleful of chest, his body shuddering as he tried to keep his form. He was successful in doing so and blinked at her and the tennis ball, realizing a second too late that he was supposed to get excited about the ball. He hoped dearly that she wouldn't note the slight delay in him jumping off the couch to bounce at the ball in her hand.

Emma laughed at Lucky, he was the strangest dog she had ever known. She loved him anyways, he was her dog and she was so happy to have him. She gave his leash a tug, leading him along to the front door. She threw open the front door and let him out as she shut it behind them. "Come on Lucky! Let's run!" She said, tugging at him gently she jogged in place.

The dog park wasn't too far away and there weren't many people there at this time. It would be a great place for them to romp and play.

Luckett bounced as she tugged on his collar, barking his excitement at her with his tail fanning the air behind him happily. His eyes were excited and ears twitching as he romped and tried to urge her to go. 'Come on! Come on!' his eyes said. Luckett wasnt excited about catching a ball or about playing with dogs but was excited about getting to expend her built up energy.

Emma laughed again as she began to jog at his bark. She was in pretty good shape, she would be able to run with Lucky without getting too winded. She wondered if she should start running again, taking Lucky with her. He would protect her, which is why she had stopped running in the mornings in the first place. She ran at a steady pace with Lucky, before too much longer they reached the dog park. Usually there would be one or two dogs there, but today there wasn't any. She shrugged and pushed opened the gate that enclosed the little dog park.

Emma shut the gate and bent to undo Lucky from his leash. "There you are, boy." She said, rubbing her hands over his fur. She really did love the way his fur felt beneath her fingers. She stood up and bounced the tennis ball a few times on the ground, to see if he was ready to play fetch or if he wanted to explore the new area first.

Luckett bounced as she unhooked his collar but a scent caught his attention and his nose went to the ground, following the smell of a rabbit closely. It was his wolf instincts that had taken over him but when he got to the fence he turned away from the scent to take care of some business then canter back to Emma, panting and staring at the ball in her hand.

Emma smiled as Lucky came back to her and stared at the ball in her hand. She bounced and shook it at him. "You want? You want it, boy? Go get it!" She said, tossing the ball far so he'd have a good chance to run after it. She tossed it back and forth each time he brought it back. She was happy and really enjoying the dog's company.

Her happy mood was soon to be ruined by the idiocy that was John. John was a man who lived near Emma. And who had tried to hook up with Emma on a number of occasions and each time she denied him. He was rude and thought the world of himself. Emma shivered as his voice rang out to her, smashing her good mood.

"Hey Em! When you gonna come and hang out with me? I been aching to show you a good time, babe." John called to her across the parking lot. Emma glared at him and turned her head.

"Stupid jerk." She said, as she tried to focus on playing with Lucky. She knew he would eventually come over to where she was and she didn't want a scene. She just tried to look at Lucky to keep herself calm and happy.

Luckett could feel the change in Emma's energy when the man called out to her and he laid his ears back, a low growl sounding in his throat. He scared himself by how quickly he jumped to her defense but instead of thinking about it he turned to her again, wagging his tail and bouncing again to throw the ball. After a few more tosses he began to act as if he were beginning to tire.

He didn't want to upset Emma and he knew he was on edge today and was just searching for someone to take it out on. If the man upset Emma then he might become that outlet. With a whine he came to stand in front of her and sit down then stood again and walked towards the gate and then back to her.

Emma ignored John's jeers at her. She noticed Lucky's reaction to him and smiled. She bent down to the dog and rubbed his head. "Yeah, I want to get out of here too." She said as she clipped the leash to his collar. She stood and could still feel John's eyes on her. She shivered wanting to get out of there as fast as she could. She hurried to the gate, letting Lucky and herself out. Much to her dismay, John was there, looming over her. He was a good foot over her, making her feel almost helpless.

"What do you want, John." She asked, her tone annoyed. He merely sneered at her, getting in real close to her. Emma leaned back away from him, clearly disgusted by his mere presence. "Come on baby, let's get together sometime." He said, backing her up against the fence. "NO! Get away from me John!" Emma yelled at him, but the man pay no attention to her protests. John lifted his hands to her waist, set to grab a hold of her whether or not she liked it.

Luckett's ears flattened back the second he saw the man waiting for Emma outside the gate. As the man came toward her the wolf let out a growl, deep and low, as a warning. The blue eyed wolf was a massive creature for a canine, his strong powerful body weighed 120 lbs so he could easily kill a human if he so chose. His first warning was ignored and Luckett snarled, tensing his muscles to lunge if he was still ignored. Finally he could stand by no longer and lunged on the man full force, barely keeping himself from tearing at the man's body with his teeth as he pinned him, snarling in his face with hackles raised.

After a few moments he stepped off the man and looked at Emma with a little wag of his tail as if to ask if he had done right and if they could leave now.

Emma had her eyes shut hard when Lucky growled and she heard John scream like a little girl. She looked over at John and saw Lucky on top of him. When her wolf in shining armor got off of John, the large man scrambled up and took off towards his car. Emma laughed, she truly laughed at the sight. She had been so scared that he was going to do something to her or even worse to Lucky.

Emma bent down to the wolf and hugged him tight. "Oh thank you Lucky! I know this is silly, but you're the only one who ever stood up for me." She said kissing the top of his head. "Come on, let's go home. You just earned yourself a steak." She grinned, picking up his leash and started jogging home.

When Emma leaned down to him he bounced up and licked her face, unable to contain himself after having so successfully defended her. HE didn't know why or when he'd started feeling like she needed him there to protect him but he knew he was stuck with her now. If he left her and something bad happened he'd never forgive himself.

With a happy bounce the wolf barked, a happy bark, jogging back with her. By the time they got back his tongue was lolling out the side of his mouth and he was thirsty.

Emma felt great, Lucky was her protector and she was so happy to have him. There was nothing in the world she wanted more than to have Lucky in her life. Now if only she could find a man just as good and loyal as he. She laughed at the thought, finding it funny. She pushed open her front door of her house to let Lucky in, she knew he must be thirsty after that jog home.

"Here we are, Lucky. Now I'm going to cook you a nice juicy steak while you relax." She said to him as she swept into the kitchen. She went to the fridge, looking for the biggest piece of meat she had to give to him.


After making Lucky his special dinner, Emma had a lazy night of cuddling with him after he was done eating for a few hours then off to bed. She was going to work early tomorrow and she needed her rest. She stretched, giving her hero a kiss on his head before peeling off her clothes and slipping into her pjs. She cuddled herself into her bed, a smile on her face. "Night Lucky." She whispered softly.

Luckett had a great evening with the woman who'd saved him from the pound. If it was his choice every evening would be like this one. All lazy and tasty. He hopped up onto her bed and stretched out as before, nudging her hand to work it up on his nose when she told him good night.

In the morning he followed her around in his dog-like fashion, waiting until she was gone to finally shift back. With relief he stretched and went to her shower, turning it on and beginning to wash, humming as he did so.

Emma sighed, she was on her way home. Her boss had told her it was slow and had to send her home. She hated having days like this, she chewed her bottom lip. Well at least she had Lucky waiting at home for her. She would spend the rest of the day laying around with her best friend. She pulled up and shut the car off, she grabbed her bags and got out of the car. She went inside and heard the shower. "Odd...I didn't leave that on this morning." She said, worry shaking over her. Lucky was no where to be seen.

Emma crept towards her bedroom where she heard her shower going. Her heart pounded in her chest, fearing what she may find in her bathroom. She crept closer to the door which was cracked open a little. She could see a figure in the mist of the hot water. She bit her lip, reaching out to the door, her fingers shaking as she touched the white painted wood. She pushed opened the door, finding a naked man in her shower. Her eyes went wide and she screamed bloody murder.
