Me neither - but at least I have tomorrow off to work on it. I think I'm going to go for *super friendly* almost annoyingly so...

OH! I should make a black and yellow avatar for when I'm feeling frisky!

On the Train, here I am going to start. (hermionie doesn't sit with ron and harry, so I have free-ness here.)

Hermione Granger stepped abord the Hogwarts express in wonder. "It was an adventure to even get to this train, imagine what it would be like in school!" Hermionie thought joyfully. She had grabbed every book she could get her hands on about the wizarding world, and so far that world had not dissapointed her.

Hermionie saw people of all different varieties: different colors, different statures, different hair colors, everything. She wondered who would be in her house. Through the hussle and bustle of the new year, she could barely see anyone clearly.

---later---

Hermionie sat in her compartment which was filled with uncertain-looking first years. One; a round faced, forgetful boy, was searching frantically around. Her nicer side showed, and she helped him look for his robes through his stuffed to bursting trunk. Aparently, his name was Neville Longbottom, and she learned a lot about him in that long ride. About how he lived with his grandmother, and his life back home. Hermionie also talked a lot, as it was her nature, but she felt like listening for a change.

Noel sat in the section near the back away from all the commoners. She smiled as she watched her snake crawl all along her legs, up to her arm and finally nesting in her hair. "Now now, its alright I know you don't like train rides. But we shall be there soon." She lightly petting her snake, as she spoke to it softly. Noel looked out the window as she sighed a bit, she wondered what awaited her at Hogwarts. Maybe there will be a cute boy. Noel smirked a bit as she ate some Bertie Bots beans.

Kate was excited but she didn't let anyone see, since she was usually quiet and liked to sit and think she thought it would be for the best. "I wonder what it will be like, let's see if I can find myself a cart not to crowded" Kate mumbled to herself looking throughout the train for her own seat and by the window at that. She finally found one and went in shutting the door behind her while sitting on one of the seats and kicking her feat up to rest on the rest of the same seat. She pulled out a book that said "Mastering the art of Potions" and opened it to the chapter she had left off last night around bedtime.

Finally! It was time to get started! Cicerone stepped onto Platform 9 and 3/4 with her mother following after her.
"Honey? Are you sure this is... right?" Rolling her luggage along she sighed at her overprotective mother. "This is were Dad said! And look... it says Hogwarts Express, Mom." "Alright Cice, then lets get you on and... I'm glad you're father is more, normal..." "Mom... WE are magical. And normal. Anyway. I'm going! I'll see you on winter holiday."

Ceci kissed her muggle mother and jumped on the train that would lead her to a place her dad said was one of the most magical places on the planet. Hogwarts. Grabbing an empty car, she quickly threw her satchel in the overhead and slid next to the window. Cherry wood, sphinx hair core wrapped in a wisp of Dementor cloth, she twirled her new wand in her fingers. She smiled and thought she'd try a small spell. Her father had gotten her the book, 'Magical Make-up Made Manifest!" and maybe a pink streak in her dark brown hair would look kinda cool...

Lexi was surrounded by her mom dad and two younger sisters both twins. The twins sounded like they were about to cry. Lexi smiled and knelt down and hugged them "I'll be back in 9 months... don't worry" The twins busted out crying as they tightly gripped her sister. She rode out the tears and hugs to get to her mom and dad. The mom was about to cry as well but her father who was a wizard put a hand on his muggle wife. "Don't worry dear... Hogwarts is the safest place in the world for anybody... she'll be fine" The mother nodded but gave her daughter a tight hug anyway. The smell of the train fumes were getting to her as you could see her nose scrunched up. Her being blind made her other senses more acute and more sensitive so she was starting to get a headache. Her father picked that up and hurried her onto the train with her luggage and her owl. "I love you sweetheart" she was given one last hug from her father before boarding the train.

She found an empty compartment that was next to Hermione's and sat in it letting out her large Barn Owl out for a stretch after closing the compartment and sitting back. She did a double check to see that she had money enough for the snacks on the train her dad said would be there. She gave her owl Alex a pat on the head. Alex cooed and lightly nipped Lexi's finger showing her affection. Lexi pulled out her wand which was 8 inches in length and made of maple and at it's core was a single unicorn hair. She was doing a few motions that were the Luminos spell. She attempted the spell a few times with no results. This was her first time with the spell so she tried again but this time she sneezed as she said the word "Luminos" and a loud bang was heard followed by the Loud screech of an owl. Alex covered her ears and was now temporarily deaf. All she could hear was ringing in her ears and the smell of sulfur. She felt around for the window and once she found it and she quickly opened it a bit to let out the smoke. She coughed a bit as the smoke left her lungs.

"Here you are, Miss Pravus," came the polite drawl of a tall, well dressed man toting a briefcase. Handing the leather object to the child before him, he frowned a bit, taking note of the people that passed him by. Distaste was evident in his expression.

"You really oughtn't stare at the Muggles, Beliumus," slow, melodic tones tumbled from the aforementioned girl. Azrael was her name, an odd name for a young girl, but she was an odd girl to begin with. She peered up at him as her long, pale fingers closed around the handle of the case, and she wore a vague sort of smile.

"I apologize that your father could not come to see you off, but you see, he was rather-"

"Busy, yes I know," she interjected, monotonly with little interest in the conversation. "I believe I must catch the train, after all, one musn't be tardy~" Her last words came in a hum, a sing song sort of melody to them. The man before her, who was a private tutor/over payed babysitter for the child, began to speak (some manner of goodbye perhaps?) when she ducked out of sight, undoubtedly toward Platform Nine and Three Quarters.

-----------

"Don't worry Mama, I'll have a great time!" Abigail Martin squeaked, wrapping her arms around the waist of a portly woman who was sobbing profusely as the train began to wail. Time was of the essence, and our young Witch was keen to soothe her mother, rather than board the train.

"You b-b-b-best be going," her mother blubbered, kissing the top of the girl's head. Abby put on her very best, brave smile. Detaching from her mother's embrace, she stepped back and bounded toward the train. Tears were forming, a natural reaction to such a parting. She did not want her mother to see those tears after all, she had to be brave!

"Love you Mama, Papa, boys!!" she hollered, jumping onto a step of the slowly moving train, waving her pudgy little hand as her family began to disappear into the smoke. Her little brothers, her Mama and Papa...

This was going to be hard.

-----------

For now, both girls, Azrael and Abby wound their way through the train. Azrael was keen to find an empty compartment, slinking in and sitting down beside the window, and straightening her very expensive clothing as she wore a rather daydreamy look. She had only been sitting for a moment or two when a few nervous first years had ambled their way into the compartment. She made no movement, humming as she looked out the window. More than likely, she had not noticed them.

Abby, on the other hand, would nervously plunge toward the fray, wearing a plain skirt and top. She tumbled and tripped, and would find herself in a compartment with some other students, though she had fallen rather ungracefully on to the ground. The compartment in question? Why it contained none other than Hermione Granger. What a grand first impression.

Joshua had gone through to platform 9 3/4 earlier than most, because he did not fancy being caught up in a long row of Weasels. He was alone - his father had explained how he could reach the platform and told him that unfortunately he could not go with him - his job again, as always. He was used to it.

Once he had entered the train, he sought for an empty compartment, not feeling like communicating with his fellow, soon-to-be-sorted, first years. Because he was one of the first, it was not hard to find one. He greeted his cousin when they passed each other in the train, settled down in an empty compartment and sat down.

As soon as the train started moving, he changed his clothes. While he did not want strange looks at the station, he was far more comfortable in his robes.

As the train pulled into a steady movement, he sighed as he pulled out a book. Not that he hated to read, but he read for knowledge and power, not just because he loved reading.

"In 1904, the witch A.W. Blue tried to pass a law to..." ((No citation from HP books))

((Sorry it is so long. I got a little carried away. >.<))

The train station was bustling as the Heart family made their way through the crowd to platform 9 and ¾. Nothing about this family seemed out of the ordinary. In the lead was Mr. Heart in his black suit yelling away at someone on his cell phone. Next to him walked the lovely Mrs. Heart, a reserved woman in her late thirties. Her appearance was equally as common save for the black cat she carried with her. Behind them trailed their moody eleven year old daughter, pushing a cart with her school trunk.

Addie Heart was about 4 feet 11 inches with fair skin and hazel eyes. Her long, brown hair was straightened today with bright blue hair extensions that her parents were not fond of. She wore a blue graphic tee that matched her hair with the words “Rock Star” written on the front in black with silver glitter. Her paints were black bedazzled skinny jeans and she wore her glittery black low-tops to match. She had purposefully dressed this way to annoy her parents. It was very… muggle.

Today marked the death of her old life in her eyes. Back in New York she had been enrolled in a muggle public school since kindergarten. Addie always knew she was special but in June her parents decided to throw her a curve-ball. They sat her down one sunny morning to tell her that she was a pure-blood witch and they were moving to England so she could attend Hogwarts. Her parents said it was the “best wizarding school in the world.” For most children, this would be a dream come true. Unfortunately Addie lost everything in the move: her home in New York, her friends, and her understanding of the world. She missed her friends the most.

She was temporarily distracted from her brooding when they crossed over onto platform 9 and ¾. The Hogwarts Express was breathtaking. She became caught up in the awe of the new place she stepped into. Students were chasing pets and hugging their parents goodbye. Wands and cloaks could be found in every direction. It was a completely different world from the busy, muggle workday on the other side. Maybe this new life could be bearable.

Addie walked briskly to the train and began to drag her trunk up the steps. Moments like these made her wish she knew how to pack lightly. After her luggage was on the train, she returned to say goodbye to her parents. Her father hung up the phone angrily and turned to his daughter. “I’m sorry, Addie. I have to run. There is a problem at the office and they need me right away. Promise you will study hard and write us as soon as the sorting ceremony is over. We hope to have another proud Heart wearing Slytherin colors.” There was so much Addie wished she could say to her father right now. She would tell him that she hates how often he works now. Her parents ship her off to boarding school and he does not bother to spend the summer with her because of his new job. When they moved to London, he took a job with the ministry of magic in the Improper Use of Magic Office. Apparently people misuse magic all the time because he was rarely around. The second thing she wished she could tell her father is that she does not want to be in Slytherin. She read about Hogwarts and its houses. Addie considered herself more muggle than witch even if her blood was pure. So why would she want to go into the house known for discrimination?

Unfortunately, she was unable to express any of this. Instead she just nodded and hugged her father before he walked away. When he was out of sight, she turned to her mother. Mrs. Heart just kissed her daughter goodbye and handed Addie her cat. “Don’t forget Nyx, darling.” Addie held Nyx close as she climbed aboard the train and waved to her mother. She then started the search for an empty compartment. “Looks like it is just you and me Nyx,” Addie said as she ran her hand through the cat’s soft fur.

After a bit of searching, she found an empty compartment and sat next to the window. Nyx curled up in her lap as Addie pulled her new wand out of her pocket (rosewood, 11 inches, unicorn hair). Usually it would be her iPod that she pulled out. However, Addie’s parents already told her technology like that would not work on the grounds of Hogwarts. She was still examining her wand when the train pulled away.

Cicerone pointed her wand at her hair and mummbled the words she had memorized. Her reflection in the window showed her that her hair had not turned pink. She frowned as she waited to see if anyone would be joining her.

"Oh well. Maybe a pink streak wouldn't have worked out anyway." She jumped back up to to grab her snacks from her bag.

Alice's goodbyes to her parents were short but heartfelt. "I'll write you at least once a week," she promised, as her father smiled proudly and her mother pretended not to be sad. "That's why you got me the owl, isn't it?" She knew she'd miss them, but she was ever so excited to be going to Hogwarts. After all, they'd moved from Japan to England for this express purpose. The Kyoto General School of Magic -- or at least that's how they translated it -- was very good, but it didn't have the same reputation as Hogwarts. Not as old, her mother had told her.

"Have a good term, sweetie," said her father.

"I'll miss you more than you can imagine," said her mother.

"I know," Alice replied, in Japanese, so her mother would know she meant it.

Her mother's facade of calm broke and she began to sniffle, hiding her face behind her hands.

"I'll see you at Christmas!" Alice called as she stepped up onto the train. Her father had already settled her trunk and owl cage into a compartment, and as the train pulled away from the station it was to that compartment that she headed now.

She opened the door to see others now occupying it: a round-faced boy and a bushy-haired girl.

Well, she thought, might as well start off properly.

"Good morning," she said, brightly and politely. "I'm Alice Mayfield, what's your name?"

---

((As you can see, I'm hoping to have Alice interact with Neville and Hermione in this scene. BTW, she'll be a Ravenclaw, I'm pretty sure. Sorry I was unavailable this weekend -- I had to drive from LA to Portland and back in three days, so my internet time was rather nonexistent.))

Things had not started well for one Neville Longbottom. Not only had his grandmother scolded him for forgetting his cauldren of socks (she had promised to send them at as soon as she got home), his had also lost the only one who would keep him company on the long trip to Hogwart: Trevor, his aged toad. Frantically searching through his luggage, he managed to find the spare quills his grandmother had packed, but no toad. Finally, after being shooed onto the train by an older student, Neville sighed and held back tears as he wondered down the long train corridor.

After deciding that he could no longer walk without fear of running into people, he slipped into, what he thought was an empty compartment. This was not the case. Sitting there was a bushy-haired girl about the same age as him. He mumbled a quick apology and asked if she had seen a toad. A while later he had sat down and began talking much more than he had ever thought possible. Her name was Hermione Granger, her parents were muggle dentists, she had read every book that was on the reading list for first year students and she had decided to help Neville look for his robes. He was a little shocked by the sheer volume of information being thrown at him, but he answered back as politely as possible. Neville avoided the topic of parents to the best of his ability; no one needed to know about them yet.

As the conversation was rolling along, a visitor poked inside of the compartment. It was another young lady, looking not quite as confused as some of the other students Neville had seen today. She introduced herself as Alice Mayfield. Neville stood up and introduced himself. "I-I-I'm N-N-Neville. N-Neville Longbottom. H-Have you found my toad?"

After deciding she couldn't stand it anymore she decided to make her way to another compartment with all of her baggage and stepped inside running into Neville "Pardone me" she scooted aside and sat in that same compartment and put up her luggage. She quickly went back and grabbed her overly large Owl who sat on her shoulder as she came back in and sat. Once she sat she bumped into another person that happened to be Hermione "Oh hello there" she faced the girl though wasn't looking at her.

Considering that no one acknowledged Abagail's presence on the floor, rather just stepping over her or around her like she wasn't even there as they entered the bushy haired girl's compartment, she squeaked sadly and wriggled back, picking herself up before shutting the compartment door a tad bit too hard. She was in a panic, new places did make her nervous after all, and they probably thought she was an idiot. Squeaking, she scuttled down the hallway of the train, her small kitten mewing noisily in the large pocket of her overcoat just as she opened, yet again another door.

"Can I sit in here?" she asked nervously, looking in a mostly empty compartment that contained a few other first years, once of which was Azrael Pravus. The other girls, wearing similarly nervous, but yet excited expressions nodded to Abigail, smiling at the blond as she stepped into the compartment. They seemed nice, unlike the dark haired girl that sat next to the window, ignoring them all.

"I'm Abigail Martin, a first year" she introduced herself, regaining a bit of her bubbly charm as she sat with the collection of girls.

"Oo we're all first years too, I'm Lila, and this is Nina," the closest one spoke, scooting over to make room for Abigail.

"Um...Hi, what's your name," Abigail leaned to look at Azrael as she sat. The pale, small girl turned her head for a moment, blinking at the trio as if she was coming out of a deep sleep.

"Azrael," she hummed, turning her head to look out the window once more, her fingers perpetually turning a wand between them.

"Wow..." Nina whispered behind her hand to Lila and Abigail, "She actually answered you! She ignored us when we came in."

"Kinda weird, isn't she" Lila tittered, shooting an apprehensive glance toward Azrael.

"I'unno, she looks nice" Abigail shrugged, smiling warmly. Who was Abigail to think poorly of someone, after all?

The train rolled on, as the quartet of girls eventually saw to it to change into their robes, eager to don the attire that would mark them as Witches in Training.

Well...Azrael maybe not so much, but let it be known to the reader that she did, in fact, love the billowy cloak.

((Since no one noticed Abigail laying on the floor, I saw fit to jerk her out of the compartment and put her somewhere else ^_^ P.S. Are we doing a post order or anything? o.o))

Noel huffed a bit as she noticed all the muggles around, 'Really they must be really disperate for students. If they are allowing muggles.' she thought to her self.
She smiled as she pet her snake and began to softly hum a bit. She looked outside seeing the train was about to leave the station.

[[I always dread first posts xD;]]

Lea was tired. Her mother had insisted upon stuffing her full of home cooked food (according to her: "There's nothing like a good home cooked meal to ensure that you'll come back home to us!"), the rhythmic sounds of the train, and the soft hoots from her brother's old owl kept lulling her into a peaceful kind of daze. "I can't fall asleep!" she said out loud in a vain attempt to keep herself awake. This was obviously a failure, so the second best idea came to her. She got up from her seat, wobbling a little from a combination of the train's movement and her own sleepiness. She stepped out of the compartment, the old owl hooting indignantly at being left behind as Lea began her stroll down the corridor.

After a few minutes of walking had proved fruitless, she started to head back to her starting point and hoped she hadn't already missed the snack trolley. For some unknown reason (which had Lea thinking that maybe some magic was afoot), she looked down at her feet as she was walking just in time to watch the ground coming to meet her. Due to circumstances beyond her control, Lea's shoelace had become untied, resulting in her fall to the ground. She got up as quickly as she could and wiped her nose. She blinked when she saw her arm was covered in blood. Clutching her nose, she quickly charged into the nearest compartment. She saw a young woman sitting there, holding an impressive looking snake. Any other time she would have admired the creature further, but there were things a little more pressing to be attended to. "Excuse be. Do you habe a dissue or someding. I fell."
