The necklace was a white lily carved out of white opal, the stem and leaf was made of a greenish gold. “Those of us on the Night Watch had saved as much as we could to provide for this gift. They asked me to buy it because I have seen your mother more often than they had. Did you know I am the only one on the night watch that also stands guard in the palace?”

"I did not know that at all and I'll tell her. it is form all of you on the night watch but. why don't one of you give it to her at her birthday ball?" she ask him in a somewhat confused voice understanding. some of the night watch men would have to look out form around the castle.

“Because I am the only one that will be at the ball the rest have to be on duty and I will also be on duty as well at the ball. So it would be best if someone who is not going to get in trouble for leaving their posts should be the one to give it.” Rosco smiled at the princess. He had never noticed it before but with the talk of being able to win her hand he found her beautiful. “so is there any one you would like to win your hand?”

Princess Judy blush like crazy as he ask her that. but she did not like the young king that was older then her at all. "I'm not sure to be honest but I wish. my father would let you all have some fun for once at a ball." she says walking off in a hurry not dare showing her face to him.

“Anything that you say will not pass my lips to another soul.” Rosco smiled. “I was just wounding if you had your eyes on one of the knights.”

"Well I would like you to win my hand." Princess Judy says to Rosco as she was blushing. she even turn around to say it to him in the face but her voice was so polite looking. other then that she would never tell him she all ways had a crush on him for a long time.

“I am not a knight, there is no way I could win you hand.” He lead her back to where her father and his body guards stood. “I have to go do some work now I will see you again my lady at the ball.” Bowing to the king he smiled to the princess.

2 days later it was the night of the Queen's birthday ball Princess Judy was in a ball gown that was long and puffy. her dress was blue with white flower's on it she walks around. being bored she had all ready given her mother the gift form the night guards men. Judy sighs out not really wanting to dance that much with so many men around. yet she could not help but wound why Rosco said he could not win her hand? Princess Judy could not stop thinking about him and was going try to beg. her father to stop this upsurged idea of a contest to let someone win her hand.

“Bored my lady?” Rosco smiled from his position near the wall. He was standing near the wall watching the people waking and dancing. “It was a nice presentation of the present, thank you for that.”

"It was no trouble at all Mother really love's it she had Father put it on her all ready. I must say that she even got my father to stop talking about the contest. I don't care about that foolish contest any more. cause I'm going to speak to my father and try stop his contest. I only want to be with the man I fell in love with." she says blushing so much her face was a cherry red color. Judy spoke elegantly,shyly as she walks over to Rosco she was planing something to make her father realize that he could not. force her to marry just anyone that won some stupid contest.

“so you have fallen in love with some one? Dose he love you my lady?” he know that what she could be talking bout was infatuation not really love. But if that was what it was then he would have to make sure that she did not force the marriage.

"I do not know since I did not tell him my feelings yet. to the one I love even so maybe he'll be better then. the last guy I fell in love with 10years ago father banish him form the kingdom. after he said that he would never love a princess let a lone. one such as my self he was a just some snobbish noble." Princess Judy says as her voice was sad sounding. but did not show any tears but there was sadness on her face. she did not want to be rejected again for a 2 time. she would not ever force any one in to marrying her at all that would be a crime. Judy did not want to say it out loud but she was in love with the man how she was talking to right now.

“I remember that man, he was not the brightest one around. I had just started working for the castle guard.” He looked around trying to make sure that he was still doing his job. He did not want for his commander to yell at him latter for not paying attention even though it would be rude for him to not talk to the princess.

"Well I should let you go back to your work now see yeah around." Princess Judy says to Rosco before starting to walk off. she walks to a glass door to go get some fresh air and would. make sure no was flowing her for once in her life at a ball. sure as the saying go's there is plenty of fish in the sea Judy sighs out. letting the fresh crisp night air blow past by her. standing a lone on the balcony looking up at what some people called the wishing star. "Oh I wish that I opened my mouth up a bit more. just to tell Rosco that I have a huge crush on him. yet father would get in the way some how. maybe the contest should go on after all even if I'm not sure about it." she says to her self looking around to make sure no one. had heard her speaking to her self about the one she was in love with. ((she means the contest.))

Watching the Princess walk away Rosco sighed. She was very pretty; maybe he should try out for the competition. Sighing he turned his eyes back to the dance floor. if only I could just go out there and ask her to dance. I never knew how interesting she was.

She stays outside for a wile longer before walking back in to the ballroom. a hole bunch of men walk over to Judy asking her to dance with them. "I'm sorry but I am not all that well with dancing. sorry please excuse me have a good time." for being the oldest princess she really was a bit clumsy when it came to dancing. there were only one style of dance she could do well with that was a Waltz. her father the king would not allow her to dare try to dance ballet. Princess Judy sighs softly to her self humming a song to keep away form thinking. the ball would be over at midnight it was still 2 hours away form being midnight.

After standing there for some time the head of the guard stopped in front of Rosco. “you seem to be wanting something.” He looked out on the dance floor and saw the princess walk back into the room. “you know Rosco, one of the guards or one of our knights should win her hand, not one of those snobs.” Turning back to Rosco he smiled. “why don’t you go and dance with her.”
“sir?”
“you heard me Rosco, I am taking your place and you are to go dance with that fine lady.” Smiling Rosco walked out onto the dance floor and tapped princess judy on the shoulder.
“may I have this dance my lady?”

"I would love to thank you for asking." Princess Judy says to Rosco with a smile on her face. lucky for them the music changed in to a waltz. have turn around when he had tap her on the shoulder. then hold's out her hand to him knowing it was impolite for a girl. not to do so if a man did are did not have his hand open to take the lady's hand in to his own.

Taking her hands to dance, Rosco smiled. “my superior told me to come dance with you. Had he only just relived me I still would have come over to dance.” He lead her gracefully acrossed the dance floor. “did you know it has been about ten years since I first set eyes on you. The first time I saw you was when I was stationed on the wall over you privet garden. I could not help but watch you run into the garden and cry. Latter I found out that the snob had just hurt you.” He smiled. “I wanted to leave my post and go see what was wrong with you, that was before I know you were the Princess.”

"How did you know about my private garden back then? but I must tell you something that is. if you want to hear it if not I'll understand." she says blushing softy hearing that he laid his eyes on her. Judy could still recall what happen 10years ago. she was really upset at the time so she ran in to her garden to be a lone.

“I did not know it was your private garden until much later. I just happened to be on the wall over looking you garden.” Rosco suspected that she might tell him who she really loved and now he did not know if he really wanted to know. “let us just enjoy this night.”

"Sounds like a fun idea but I msut should add mite. that I all ways had a crush on you. it started 3 months after what happen 10 years ago." Princess Judy says wile blushing if she was lucky maybe her father heard her say that. he only wanted to do the contest knowing how shy his first born daughter is at times.

“Three months? That would be when I first started standing watch in the great hall at dinner.” Rosco looked kind of surprised at her. “why did you never tell your father about your crush on me?” he was glad that she had not told her father at the time. It could have meant that Rosco would have never seen the inside of the palace other then the dungeons again. He had just reached adult hood by the city’s standers when he got the job as palace guard. Even some of the nobles would have said he was too young for the job. But now that he had proven himself to be a good guard, he did not fear the king throwing him out. “Would you like me to try to win your hand my lady?”
He had said my lady so many time to here that it had become second nature to address her as such but now he felt that he might have a chance at actually having the honor of having her as HIS lady.

"I did not want my Father to know about it. he is the type of father that is hard to understand things at times. that is when he all ready has his own idea of things." she says to Rosco still a blush lay a upon her cheeks just a soft blush at most. "Yes I would like for you try to win my hand. the rules of the contest says if person that win's cheats to win my hand. will be disqualified and the runner up will get my hand instead. I'd just had to warn you about that rule." Judy says to him dancing slowly to the waltz music keeping in time with it.

“now why My lady would you think that I would cheat?” gently he brushed her face with his finger tips. “it would only mean that my fellow guards would have to take me away and that would just be embarrassing.”
