Leah didn’t really know what to think of Jacob asking her out for a drink. And, at that thought, she immediately scowled. The fact that her brain had put it ‘asking her out for a drink’… Well, it was quite annoying. He wasn’t asking her out. He was asking her to have a drink with him. Like friends. After all, she was practically one of the guys and guys went out to drink together all the time. There was, however, a difference. Practically one of the guys, was not the same as actually being one of the guys and Jacob asking Leah to go for a drink was not the same as asking, say, Quil for one.

If anything frustrated Leah more than the fact that her brain seemed to be under the impression that this was some sort of date, it was the fact that she was actually spending a significant amount of time trying to figure out what to wear. She stood in front of her closet for God knows how long, just staring at the small section that contained her dresses. She didn’t really wear dresses, she hadn’t been a girly girl since before the Sam incident. She certainly wasn’t planning on putting on some sort of sundress, but hidden behind those old dresses were a couple dresses her mother had convinced her to buy. First there was the knee-length, form fitting black dress. After that a purple dress with a loose fitting, uneven skirt that lay past her knee on one side and a little above her knee on the other. The last dress, the one she had needed the most convincing to purchase, was a tight fitting, mid-thigh length red dress. For some reason, she felt the urge to wear that one. She’d never worn it before. Might as well get some use out of it.

And that is what she planned to tell Jacob when he mocked her about what she was wearing. If he was acting like his normal self he’d be sure to tease her about wearing a dress like that when she was only going out with him. Who was there to impress after all? As she headed out to her car, she felt the overwhelming urge to hit him and he hadn’t even done anything yet. He, however, was making her act weird… because he was acting weird! Since when did Jacob Black ask her to go for a drink? Well, it never happened. So, obviously it made sense that Leah was so jittery about all of this.

After pulling up to the bar, she held onto the steering wheel tightly. This rationalizing was not working out so well. With a groan, she exited the car and headed into the bar. She looked around, trying to spot Jacob. She found him quickly, sitting in a booth in the corner. She walked over and sat across the booth from him. “Hope I haven’t kept you waiting, Black.”
