"Yeah, but it's been about two years since it happened so, I'd have no idea where to find them..." Kindian didn't mention that he's not technically a cat boy. He was a race called an Element. Which was a race of semi-god-like people. His power is over animals, so he could talk to animals. His sister could control emotions, and his roommate's power was odd. It was over life and death. He followed her quietly, not bringing those things up to someone he just met.

"I'm sorry I can't help," Lana replied. She walked with him into the apartment building. "My apartment is up on the sixth floor, so this is about the point we hope that the elevators are working. They tend to break down every so often." She didn't mind living on the higher floor, really. It was quieter up there, since all the noisy party-goers liked to be lazy and live on the floors closest to the ground.

"It's not your fault," he replied pleasantly. He looked around and tilted his head at the elevators. "Those are elevators, right? And I don't mind walking." He seemed easy to please now that he was away from that shopkeeper. The head tilting was quite cute.

"You say that now," Lana replied. "We'll see if you still think that after ten flights of stairs." She'd said the same thing, when she first got the apartment. Then the elevator broke the first time, in the height of August. Shaking her head a bit, she headed towards the elevators. There weren't any signs that said they were broken, so she figured it was safe enough to try.

Kindian shrugged and followed her. "'Kay." He seemed content and looked around at everything curiously. His tail moved slowly and his ears twitched at every new sound.

The ride up to the sixth floor was short, and her door was only about half-way down the hall. She'd decorated it with little paper leaves, since it was already fall. Unlocking it, she opened the door.

"Make yourself comfortable," she said.

Kindian wandered around and eyed the couch. He curled up at the end of it and snuggled into it. His tail wrapped around his body and he watched everything with curious eyes. His stomach grumbled loudly and he stared at it, frowning.

Lana was already in the kitchen looking for something to make for dinner. She was getting hungry as well, since she'd inadvertantly skipped lunch. She rummaged around for a bit before settling on a few cans of condensed tomato soup and some brown rice.

"Tomato-rice soup sound alright?" she called.

Kindan perked up for a moment. "Yup!" he replied cheerfully. "Do you need help?" he asked, rolling off the couch contently. He wandered into the kitchen and hovered in the doorway, waiting to be assigned to something. It seemed like he was trained to help out, and looked out of place when he didn't.

"I think I'm alright, unless you want to put a pot of water on the stove for the rice," Lana replied. Tomato-rice soup was simple, with very few steps involved. Cook the rice, heat the soup, add rice to soup. Simple. "It's boil-in-bag rice, so it'll take about ten minutes to cook once the water is boiling."

Kindian began doing as she told immediately. He nodded. He hummed to himself as he worked. It seemed like he cooked a lot when he lived with his sister. The song he's humming is a female song and quite fast.

Lana listened to him humming. He wasn't half-bad, and it was a pretty good song. He seemed to know his way around a kitchen, so she didn't give him any further instructions. She was only barely proficient in the kitchen as it was, no sense in messing up someone who actually seemed to know what they were doing.

"And it's raining/ And the stars are falling from the sky/ And the wind/ And the wind I know it's cold," he sang under his breath, contently. He didn't even seem to notice he was singing. He got the water boiling quickly and went to work on the rice.

Lana didn't comment on his singing, since she didn't really want him to stop. He sounded good, and she got the feeling that if she made a comment, he would stop.

After getting the rice in, he noticed he'd been singing and promptly stopped, going red. His cheeks didn't redden when he was embarrassed, only his neck and the tips of his ears did. He said nothing about it and continued to work, praying she didn't notice. He had horrible stage fright when it came to his singing.

Lana noticed when he stopped, but didn't comment. If he wanted to say something about it, that was his business.

"If you want, you can go make yourself comfortable while I finish in here," she said. "My apartment's not all that big, but it's home."

Kindian wandered back out and curled back up on the couch, contently. He was breathing a silent sigh of relief at her not mentioning it. He loved singing when he was alone, but people seemed to make him worse, so he stopped singing around people, unless he did it without noticing.

While the rice was cooking, Lana heated up the soup. Once everything was ready, she mixed the rice into the soup and turned off the heat.

"Soup's ready," she called. "Help yourself."

Kindian went back out and did as she said. He didn't take a lot, which was odd due to how loud his stomach was being. He also knew, due to how long he'd been basically starved, he wouldn't be able to eat a lot at once. He sat down and waited for her to start eating before eating himself.

Lana didn't notice how he'd waited for her to start before he started on his soup. Growing up with three older brothers created the habit to claim your meal before the others did.

Kindian was used to making the food and then waiting to eat after his roommate started. His roommate was a prince by birth, but didn't rule. So, Kindan treated him like a royal. He ate slowly and carefully, not wanting to get sick. He was quiet as he ate.

Lana made a mental note to go grocery shopping the next day, so she'd actually have some proper food in the apartment. Then it occurred to her that she didn't know what Kindian liked.

"Is there anything in particular you want me to pick up while I'm at the store tomorrow?" she asked him.

Kindian thought about that for a moment before shrugging. "Pick up what you want. I'm not picky." Which was true, he'd eat just about anything. "I am allergic to spinach though...," he mused. It was odd. Thank god he didn't like the taste of it anyway.

"That's alright," Lana said, "I'm not fond of the stuff anyways." She didn't hate the stuff, but she didn't go out of her way to find it. "Is there anything you particularly like?"

Kindian thinks about that. "I like fish...," he says cutely, looking up at her. His tail started moving at the thought of fish and his ears twitched. He was quite cute when he was happy.
