Jade watched as Julie seemed to be in her own little world there for a bit. She wondered what she could be thinking of before their conversation had ensued. "Huh. Well I think that's strange." She answered, not really understanding. Why would anyone come here on a date? Or anniversary? Or any celebration? It was boring. But, Jade had to admit, it was definitely an interesting new experience.
"So... people aren't going to think we're dating or anything, right?" She asked, hearing Julie's next statement. She then folded her arms across her chest. "And I told you already." She added, narrowing her eyes at the other. "We're not friends. We're just celebrating." She paused for a moment, an odd look coming over her. "Um... what is it we're celebrating anyway?" She remembered Julie telling her that her parents couldn't make it, but that was it.

Julie as just taking a sip of her Coke when Jade made that comment about how people might think they were dating. She chocked on her coke, causing her to cover her hand over her mouth only to result in laughing. She shook her head and then looked at Jade, composing herself as she wiped her hand and mouth on the napkin. "They think you're my friend or sister," she assured Jade. "And I know."
"We're celebrating me finally being in college and out of home," Julie said as her finger swirled around the tip of the glass of coke.

A puzzled look came over Jade when Julie almost spat out her coke in laughter. Had she said something funny? A pouty look came over her, not used to not being taken seriously. This was all very new and strange to her. "Friend or sister? That's what it looks like?" She repeated. Well, she supposed that wasn't too surprising... They were having dinner together after all. Enemies or people that hated each other didn't really do that.
"Oh really?" Jade said with an amused smile to Julie's answer. "Well I guess cheers to the both of us then." She raised her sprite to Julie, for the first time feeling a sense of similarity to her. "I've officially run away from home too."

Julie smiled and nodded her head as she raised her coke glass and clinked it against Jade's. "My childhood and teenage life was a living hell and now I'm finally free to be who I wanna be," Julie said in a happy way. The more she thought about it, the more she felt excited and ever more happier than before.
This girl before Julie seemed like there could be something to Julie in the near future. A friendship maybe? Or maybe even best friends? Julie really didn't know for sure, so she pushed those thoughts from her mind and knew that whatever happens was meant to happen and will happen.

"Be who you wanna be..." Jade mimicked, muddling around the words in her head some. Jade had never struggled with such a thing before, always expressing who she really was to others, which was often time a total bitch. But even so, Julie's statement made her very curious. Especially the teenage life being a living hell part. "Crappy childhood, huh?" She said dully. "I'm with you there." She then gave a light though slightly mischievous smile. "Heh. I guess we're more alike than I thought." She wasn't expecting too much at first, but this Julie girl seemed okay so far. She was really the first person she'd actually held an intelligent and civil conversation with since a long time.
