Good for you. I'd love to go to another country, just to say I've been there. It's a grand opportunity, have fun! Don't miss us too much. You'll still be able to come online, right?

Well, you can tell which languages are popular on Mene!

I myself have no talent for learning languages - I think that has to due with how languages are taught. I need it broken down like math for me or I wont be able to understand it... This was my hurdle with making sentences in french, I could never seem to get the syntax down - though...the semantics made sense...if you realized I was just bad at speaking the language!

I think now that I know more about the language acquisition, I might like to try to learn French again... I'll just need to get that mini-traslator out of my head! At the moment I can understand it fluently - to an extent. But as I live in Canada, I'd like to be able to speak it!

As well, ASL is on my list to learn. I knew it fluently as a child as one of my best friends at the time was deaf, and I used to go to the classes with her. I ended up loosing it due to miss use though.

I feel as thought I might acquire tid-bits of Native American languages as well. I live up North in Canada, and I intend to do rotations once I graduate from my Nursing program. :)

A few that I would love to learn - but it will probably never happen are : German, Latin, and Japanese. :)
It would be nice to know a lot of the European lanuages as I intend to backpack Europe - but I'm gonna count on English and my 'cute naivety' to be enough. *Gulp* ahha.. ^^;;

Yep! They are. Their first singer was Finnish, second was Swedish ... and now, I think they're looking for a third, since Annette didn't work out ;c

... Backpack around Europe?
Wow, for me I would really prefer to know how to speak their local language.
I am just paranoid to be at a foreign place without knowing their language. It is like a main communication bridge between tourist and local. Besides, I am too shy for amateur sign languages for strangers in foreign places.

Don't always depend on something that can be easily drop.
XD That is my philosophy. It better be in your head where you can't drop it just like that. XD

Then, it just means that you didn't study hard enough.
there is something that I read about how brain memory neuron chain works.

Definitely true. I've forgotten nearly all the Spanish I learned, because I haven't used it in years.

I think non-verbal communication is as important as verbal. Probably because I'm a nursing student. x3

I think if I were to meet people, not being able to talk with them would actually bring me closer to them - because you need to put forth more of an effort to communicate with them.

At least - I'm hoping this is the case, or I'll be screwed when I go on my trip. Ahha. x3

If that's the case, you could have studied it till you were blue in the face - and still manage to forget some things because of lack of usage.

Not to mention, if you learned it while you were older you're less likely to aquire fluency. The best time to learn languages is when you're developing. :)

Non-verbal communication is really important. People's reactions, their body languages, and how they react to what you do. If you did something offending, you're going to know it if they punch you in the face xD

...I was saying about "Use it or lose it."... right?
When you are studying, it is still using.
My definition. lol.

Non verbal... lol. That leads me to think of writting. instead of body language and things like that. XD

Sansasa... your avatar do not looks like a person that typed up things above... XD

I like to listen to Jrock. If I knew the language, I could understand the lyrics rather than Googling them xD

Talking about Jmusic. I only listen to anime OP and ED. XD
I don't even listen to Chinese, English songs. XD Easily to get hook in when I insisted on watching the show from beginning to end.
I have all tracks from my first anime Doraemon down to the newer anime OP/ED from Detective Conan. This Detective Conan... have like more than 50 OP/EP track... O__O I took like more than 3 hours for all Conan's song to play one round.
