Fine, fine, fine. I'm going to bed.
I do need to get up early tomorrow in order to "go over homework" with someone else in christopher walkinopolis' class. Some of the questions were in such a critically bad state that they needed grammatical intubation. So. Not. Joking.
Read down to question 6 before my brain started emergency procedures, and began to close itself down compartmentally! I understand the logic off the questions, but have no idea how you are supposed to lay out the answers?
Anyway would always be interested in anything with some rules finally, but I wouldn't be worried about being too stringent with details, and following all the d&d/ Jackson&livingstone rules or whichever system you want to use! Because at the end of the day there is only one rule with something with a gm. The games master makes the rules, and their word is final!... Or is that two rules?
Excellent, you know the most important rule already! I like to allow a lot of freedom, but I do try to limit people taking advantage of the rules. I'll tell everyone now that you'll get a lot more points for using limited skills creatively than you will for smashing everything in sight.
Well limiting the characters makes things more realistic... As realistic as elves and orcs can be... But also makes things more challenging, makes you use your brain and creativity a bit more, so that all equals moe fun... Or am I talking absolute garbage?
When we do finally get this started, don't mind me if I ask alot of derp questions, although I do think I follow most of the logic in the first post ^.^
And it's okay to ask questions, Cora. Everyone is pretty derp their first few sessions, and sometimes that's good because they think outside the box!

Okay, this is something I'd like to get sorted before I get an OOC page up... How long do we want to allow for a turn in this game? I understand that real life happens, and sometimes people can't post every day, but I hate to hold up everyone if one person's computer goes haywire. I'm inclined to say 3 days, or until every player has taken their action, whichever comes first. Are there any objections to that?

3 or 4 days sounds about right to me. Any more than that and things kinda get a bit dead feeling but it's good you're asking before getting into it. Everyone in this should weigh in on this because obviously each person is different. That and if we all agree on some amount of time which everyone feels is reasonable no one can go on and get butt hurt if they miss out on taking their turn because we follow the time frame everyone has agreed upon. (Myself included! )
Well 3 days is more than enough for me! But I am always happy for the gm to play my character to get story moving whenever anyway? So if I'm accepted, that's my opinion.
I will get the OOC thread up tonight. I will! It's just... have you ever moved, and when you're unpacking, the last box is full of little bits and bobs of junk that you don't want to get rid of but you don't really know what to do with, and so that last box takes twice as long to unpack as the entire rest of your worldly possessions? Because right now I'm on the last box of rules.
If no one else grabs cleric I call dibs!!
Just so you know, as a cleric my fav spell is create water. people always underestimate the sudden creation of 10gal/lvl of water above a monster. that's 80lbs of water per level.
Woot! I'm done! Well... 95% done. I have all the typing done, but I still need to do some formatting so it will look nice on the forum. Bolding, italicizing, and so forth. I'm totally exhausted, though, and I have to get up early for an appointment, so I'm going to put this off 'til tomorrow. I will, however, leave you guys with a sneak peek of the game world!
The City of ArlithX
Nestled on the western edge of the Great Western Sea lies the city of Arlith, the oldest city in the world. It hardly looks ancient at a first glance, being a bustling metropolis filled with traders from far-off Tehley and nearby Raeland. It's not even uncommon to meet merchants who've traveled to the mysterious Silent Lands of the south, and some ships even claim to have dared the Great Current to reach the Empire of Barven far to the East. But if one knows what to look for, and peers past bright paintwork and lush vines, they will start to see the signs of age. This simple shop has a wall of finely-carved marble, and that wealthy has pillars that might have graced some ancient temple. Bits and fragments of an ancient city have been built into the new, just as bits and fragments of many cultures have blended into the city's culture. Books have been filled with the little points of interest about the city, but any local will tell you that the most interesting thing in town is the Wall.
The Wall is the largest intact piece of the original city, and might once have been part of its defenses. Now, though, it's been swallowed up by encroaching neighborhoods, and one side of the great edifice serves as the back wall for an entire street of shops. The other side, however, is covered with layer upon layer of paper and parchment. Public notices, flyers announcing services, job offerings, resume postings, all plastered on top of one another to double the thickness of the Wall... it's said that an archaeologist once tried to catalogue the layers on one square yard of the Wall, only to go mad when he arrived one morning to find that the area he'd cleared was covered by new flyers. One section of the Wall is particularly interesting to visiting adventurers, however. The section nearest the Military Quarter is covered with requests for monsters to be slain and princesses to be rescued... or simply thieves to be taken for a bounty. This is where many quests have begun, and a few have ended.
I will post at least once every two days unless I am somehow drugged, kidnapped, tied to a chair, and forced to watch hour after hour of "We're the Titans, We're the Best" from the magnum opus of humans during our lifetime.
Not that it would be bad.
-- If Longcat has claimed cleric, then I'm going to have to think up another character... unless we want to have two!?!
You can have two if you find ways for both to be useful! There are 7 gods, and each will have a distinct set of clerical spells you can choose from!
And darnit, now I'm going to be singing 'boom shaka laka laka boom shaka laka laka boom boom... BOOM BOOM' all night in my dreams. *shakes fist* The worst part will be the hairy legs...
I'm still cleaning up the equipment section to make it more readable, but all the rules are posted. I'll get world information up next. If anyone feels I've left something out, let me know and we'll see what we can do to fix that.
