I love doing that too. But it's very messy. XD and my crayon lines most of times get mushed up accidentally with my hand cause I don't have sketch paper.
And it's fun when you are doing the sketch it looks so complex and when you do the line art the drawing seemed a lot simplified lol.

Oh I have a question. For lineart, what do you actually do? Do you just try to draw it on the computer or what?

I can't draw on the computer cause I don't have a tablet, what I do is when I do sketch. i do then extremely pale, then I retrace it with a pen then erase the pencil ligne. Or for some people who have a tablet, they just do an other layer on photoshop and retrace in black.
And when you do line art you only have 1 shot so be careful of your lines.

If I do that on photoshop. I would be dead. I can't even get the use of the pin. X.x It never go the way I want it to go. @.@

ahhh... I see ^-^ as for line art, what Crystal says is pretty much what I do too. There are a couple other ways to do it though, like here and here :D these help you fix your scanned images without having to redraw all the lines ^-^ Invariably, tracing in psd or oc ends up changing the origional drawing. This way you can keep it exactly the way you started :) DA has a lot of other cool tutorials: some one was even nice enough to link a whole bunch of tutorials for anything you possibly wanted to know about art (digital, traditional, and otherwise) in one neat journal. here if your interested

Hey Val, do you have a physical description for Maylla? (hair, eyes, etc) I'm looking at the ref, but want to make sure I get her correct!

I don't have an actual description but I can tell you it's the same color as the picture. She has no bangs, and that orangeish streak in the front. The hair is wavy (But not to the point of curly) and reaches to below her shoulder blades.

OK! Are her eyes green? Grey?

You can do them auburn instead. ^_^ I forgot to change that in the description.

sorry for the late reply to your art contest. ^^; after i posted, i didnt think to return. good thing i did; i was about to spring clean my artwork and get rid of unfinished sketches.

uh, here's the sketch if you're still interested in it. sorry it's kind of dark; i had my brother use the camera (i have no idea how to use it)

if interested, it SHOULD take me no more than a week, but i have college so i cannot say for sure (i do have a four day break right now though).
