I love the Dragonlance series.

I started in 8th grade, when I pretty much had read every interesting fantasy based book available in the school library. If I remember correctly, the series included these titles: Dragons of Autumn Twilight, Dragons of Winter Night, and Dragons of Spring Dawning. All three were by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman; every book that I've loved has come for those two collaborated writers. Another series that they wrote was with the twin brothers, Raistlin and Caramon.

My favorite species would have the be the Kender and Dwarves--I have always loved this species ever since I found fantasy.

Tasslehoff and Raistlin have to be my favorite characters from the series.

I'll agree with you on Raistlin, actually. While I've only read the first (and almost done with Winter Night), from what I've read of Raistlin and his poor brother is very interesting.

I hear there is an entire side series of just their adventures, actually.

Indeed there is and in terms of what happens to Raistlin, it's kinda sad. There are three books: Time of the Twins, War of the Twins, and Test of the Twins. All are very good and are by Weis and Hickman.

I would definitely recommend them.

I really like Weis and Hickman the most. I usually only read the books that either have kender or Raistlin in it due to not liking elves.

My favorite character is Tasslehoff Burrfoot, then Raistline Majere.

Favorite race is kender. ^^

This hasn't been alive much recently it seems...but since Dragonlance is my favorite book series I want to try to bring it back.

My favorite authors are Weis and Hickman, I usually only read the ones that at least one of them has worked on or helped with. (even just editing as long as they aqre mentioned as helping)
Chronicles is what got me hooked and is probably my favorite set of books.
It would be hard for me to pick a favorite character though, there are so many well done characters that I just can't.

Wow....all the Dragonlance fans disappeared. :(
But never fear! I will revive this thread.

Now, on topic. I LOVE the Dragonlance books. I haven't read all of them yet, but I've amassed quite a few.
For authors, I really like all of them. I think they all do a great job. Weis is probably my favorite, just because Raistlin was her "baby."
My favorite character is Raistlin, followed by Dalamar, Gilthas, and Kaz the Minotaur. *marvels at her eclectic taste*

I like the majority of the Dragonlance books that I've read but I have trouble with reading them more than once. For a while, my favourite character was Raistlin, so I bought the Soulforge and Brothers In Arms. After reading those, I decided that the Mad Baron was the best thing ever to happen to literature. Unfortunately, he's not an especially important character so he doesn't actually appear in any other books. :(

I guess there's a chance they'll come out with a book solely about him, though - his history is pretty colourful, if the background they gave in Brothers In Arms is anything to go on. xD

I don't mind reading them more than once. I like them *that* much!
The Mad Baron was pretty awesome! I wonder if they have a suggestion area for new books on the Dragonlance website? *goes to look*

Ah, resurrecting this thread to say:
I just got like 15 new Dragonlance books from my local used bookstore! I was so excited when I saw them all. XD And they were all ones I didn't have.

One of my favorite fantasy races has always been elves but I also like dragons. There are 3 books with the original characters and then 3 more that follow that. there are also 3 books dedicated to the two twins as well.

Oh, I'm so delighted to find a thread about Dragonlance! 8D How I came to read the Dragonlance series is a long story.

I didn't really like fantasy until I played the game Morrowind for the Xbox. Through Morrowind I met a friend who also played D&D, plus I was roleplaying medeival fantasy and came across 'alignments' and did some research and found a lot of today's RPing can be easily traced back to D&D.

I was in Blockbuster when I found the Dragonlance movie. I watched it and I was delighted with it, though I acknowledged it was very cheesey, somehow it engaged me anyway. I loved the character Raistlin; at the time he seemed to me to only be a quiet kind of character, though in the books I found he was given to outbursts of harsh critisism and biting comments.

I talked to my friend about the movie and she told me about the books, so when my next birthday came, I bought the first trilogy- the one with Tanis, Flint, and all them. I loved it! Raistlin isn't what I thought he was but my interest in him deepened. I bought the next trilogy that was all about Raistlin (Time of the Twins, Test of the Twins, etc.) and loved that even more because I learned more about my favorite character.

I'm a die-hard Raistlin fan, all told. I like and relate to many of the characters, though. I like Sturm- I like the 'noble knight' type of character, which is why I always choose House Redoran when I play Morrowind. X3 I also like Tasslehoff. Somehow, I feel my personality ranges between his and Raistlin's. My favorite race would have to be dragons. After Morrowind I'm used to (literally) more colorfully diversified races, so the other sentient mortal races of Krynn don't really appeal to me.

Yay! Another Raistlin fan. <3

I cried over Sturm....literally. I really liked his character as well. I like a lot of the characters actually. XD

Morrowind is a fun game as well. Have you played Oblivion?

I love Dragonlance and I didn't see it being mentioned around here so I am just curious if anyone here has read any of the books. I'm not really far (relatively) through all the books. I've gotten through the Chronicles, Legends, The Second Generation, and Dragons of Summer Flame and I'm hoping to get my hands on the Lost Chronicles series.

So any Dragonlance fans out there? If so what are your favorite books?

Can't say I have ever read them, but I know of the books. My brother was really into those books some years ago. I think they're still lying around somewhere, if not he took them with him when he moved out.

Hi Knightess, there's already a Dragonlance thread in the book forum, so I'm going to be merging your thread with that one.

Please check if a thread topic exists by using the search function at the top right of the thread page before creating a new one ;)
