Would it help to go to the gym teacher or the principal about the matter? It's just as wrong for black people to make racial slurs as anyone else and they can't monopolize the equipment like that. I know you don't want to be a snitch but, it's just wrong for those girls to act like that.

Wow.
That was really rude of the lady :/ SHE wasn't sitting there, baking in the sun. By the sound of it, she wasn't even anywhere near you.
And Kinmotsu: Just because the blinds don't belong to the OP, and belong to the 'whole restaurant' doesn't mean she had the right to get the OP to open her blinds. You're defending the lady, when clearly she was rude, and had no right to make the OP uncomfortable by sitting in the sun. The window was at the OP's seat. Not the Lady's. Therefore she shouldn't really have any control over what someone else does in their seat.

Some people do it just to piss you off. Don't let it get to you.
Trust me, they will do anything to see you in a negative mood for some reason. It entertains them :|

I see people saying the lady was rude for asking
But isn't there easier ways to resolve this peacefully
like first asked why she wanted it to stay open
then just told her why you wanted it to be closed?
A compromise or at least a more peaceful solution
could probably happened back then.
I mean,
if you can talk about the incident like this
won't having a direct conversation at that time
would have prevent the experience
to end up as something which annoyed you enough
to post about it in here?

That's strange, she is across the resturaunt. Well, maybe she wanted the light to hit her table or something? She might of liked the scenery outside the window you were sitting at. Hm..

You and I must use different dictionaries to define "clearly." One person wanted it open, one wanted it closed. One closed it, the other asked (the appropriate people, mind you) to have it opened. No "clearly rude" apparent anywhere in the story.

So discuss:
-should people have the right to request these things when it has almost nothing to do with them?
-should other people have to appease these kinds of people?

well... i think that they do have the right to request for those kind of things even though it has almost nothing to do with them. so... since they are still involved i think that they have a right to.
and to answer the second question, i say yes because take a look at stores. if a customer complains about something small, they try to resolve the problem dont they? so... i guess you can if you want to

I guess i just don't see why I would have to open my blinds. All the rest of them were open, so if she wanted to enjoy the day, she could have looked another direction. Oh and she demanded. I just thought it was really rude of her. Maybe if she would have given a reason or asked nicely, it wouldn't bother me so much. But she demanded it like she was the queen of england. I'm sorry, but I have just as much right to keep my blinds closed as she does to ask me to open them.

I don't feel she had the right to ask for them open at all. Someone suggested that she wanted to see her car, but if that was the case she should've sat at the window.
If she wants the light so damn bad, she should've sat at one of the windows. I really hate illogical people like that.
