Yeah, my mum, despite having kind of seen several episodes, still really doesn't know what Doctor Who is. Remember when Cherry had Tennant as her signature? I was on mene, went up to get something, and she wandered over to my computer. "Who is this person? Are you talking to him? -suspicious/mild panic face-"

That anecdote made her sound nuts. She's not. Just flaky on occasion, I suppose.

Well, was it peering-off-camera-through-my-glasses-this-is-my-sexy-face Tennant or was it BLEEEHHHHHLICKYLICKY Tennant? Although I suppose both could be seen as cause for concern. That's funny, though. Yeah, sorry, I'm actually a 40 year old Scotsman.

it's was the first one, I think. Had it been the kitten one, she might have been won over.

Oh, right, I forgot about the kitten one. Hmm, I've had a lot of Tennant signatures. But, yes, your daughter being wooed by a 40 year old Scotsman is terrible, but your daughter being wooed by a 40 year old Scotsman with kittens is just a-okay. I mean, come on, kittens.

I want a kitten...

Gah! So excited about the new series! :gonk:
As is my mum... She keeps on asking me for the release date xD The 23rd, right?

By the way, I'm currently getting into Jane Austen and reading 'Persuasion' I watched the movie with my mother and sister yester-eve~

Yep, the 23rd.

I've read Pride and Prejudice as well as seen the US movie, but that's as far as my Austen experience goes. I own Emma and Sense and Sensibility, I've just... not gotten around to reading them yet. She's a bit long-winded at times (I know, not uncommon for that time) and I have a terribly short attention span when it comes to books lately. I forget to read them unless they're super mega compelling. Shame on me, I know. But at least I have the intention of reading them.

Yeah, I've never finished one of her books xD I started reading Sense and Sensibility/Sense and Sensibility and Seamonsters, but never passes the middle.
I do, however, love the movies of the books. Sense and Sensibility being my favourite <3

That I'd already seen the movie for P&P helped. My brain gets mushy at times and I'd have trouble following everything that was happening, but having seen the movie helped, and I was able to get through the tougher parts.

And lord, I sound so stupid saying this. Really, I've just got a mushy brain and poor concentration because hrmr garble nrrmm and reading older books exacerbates it, it's not like I just can't comprehend them.

Yeah, having seen the movie of Persuasion I feel I have a better grasp of who's who because I'm terrible with names

It's alright, I know what you mean xD -pats Cherry on the back-

*shifty eyes* My current wallpaper is of a certain 40-year-old Scotsman.... :ninja:

Aah, Persuasion. I've actually never read that one. I've only read P&P (multiple times) and S&S (twice). I tried reading Emma, but lost interest somewhere in the middle of the book. I really should get back to that one. But watching a good film adaptation (the BBC/A&E versions are usually QUITE close to the book) always makes me go "Meh, this is all pretty much word-for-word, so why bother?" Although I should know better, because at the end of P&P there is like an entire chapter that's not really in either of the movies, and it's very humorous, too.

There's a great film version of Persuasion with Rupert Penry-Jones, though. <3

If only more of the 40 year old Scotsmen I see on a daily basis were David Tennant. As in any of them.

I was in Forbidden Planet today and they'd imported the first issue of Doctor Who Insider. That story sounded a lot more exciting in my head.

I understand that sentiment, Kat.
When it comes the other way round, I do the internal dance of happiness in the magazine section.

I bought The Hunger Games today, but I know how I get when I'm reading a good book (I simply CANNOT put down a good book... Instead I'll just forget all my responsibilities and deadlines and read an entire book in one day) So I'm forcing myself to wait until after finals to start reading it!! So, no spoilers PLEASE! Thank you. :)

zeapear - Yeah, I'm terrible with names too! In books, at least. In TV shows, I'm usually great with them and will know all the characters' names within a few episodes. But with books, I don't have a face to associate the name with, so often it gets lost. Kind of weird since names are used more in books than in TV, but... I get them mixed up. It's pretty much the entire reason I got hopelessly lost while reading IT. There are something like 5-6 main characters whose POVs are cycled through, and three or four of them have no readily distinguishable characteristics while you're reading it, so you have no clue who you're reading for, really. Is this the guy who (blah blah blah) or the one who (duh duh duh) or...? So then you have to flip back a ton to find the last time the character was mentioned, then read through that to try to remember who he is and just ARGH!! Make some characters that aren't all identical, Stephen King!

Woops, tangent, sorry.

Lost - Tennant, I assume? Although he's not the only supah fine 40-something Scotsman.

Yeah, P&P (the book) had quite a bit that the movie didn't have, which I quite enjoyed. I think the only thing that the book had that the movie didn't that I didn't like was Darcy's letter. Oh god his letter. The man needs to learn to edit, that was one seriously unnecessarily long letter. Obviously events in the book were a bit different than in the movie, so the letter had to be at least a little different, but still, the movie had it at such a short length, yet it still said absolutely everything that it needed to. Yet in the book it rambled on repetitively for a good 5-8 pages. Ugh, come on Janie, you're killin' me here.

Ah, probably a good idea xD Tell me when you get into it, though! I look forward to seeing your reactions to the plot twists. :ninja:

Cherry
With me, I even get confused in Televesion shows  I find it hard to identify and remember someone's face unless there is something distinguishing about them (ie. diffferent skin tone, long hair, different coloured hair... etc.) and I need to keep on asking my mother who's who and whatnot
Jane Austen is particularly difficult for me; in the movies, I find most of the males look similar and all the clothing is the same and grah... :gonk:

I'm super good with names in books.... unless it's War and Peace. Tolstoy :illgetu: why must your characters have 14 nicknames apiece???

I have problems if the characters look similar, but that usually only happens in movies. For some reason, TV Shows are more likely to have a broader scope of characters (I guess to make it more accessible and avoid just that?) where as movies are slightly more likely to have two generic young white guys with short dark hair and square jaws.

Usually I can also name off the actors' names for the principal cast in shows I like. Mostly thanks to the intro, of course, but I also tend to do a lot of wikipedia reading when first getting into a show (if it's a sitcom - I don't do that with dramas because of spoilers. I spoiled WAY TOO MUCH of Torchwood from that :gonk: )

Uhm, this is a boring post, so... DAVID TENNANT MAKING DUMB FACES!

Bonus: MATT SMITH MAKING DUMB FACES

Two for one, nice.

I kind of have trouble telling white people apart? Which is weird because I am white?

Cherry
I hadn't noticed that before, but that is actually very true... I don't think I've actually gotten confused in a TV show before. (discluding the first episode or two).
And yes... In Mansfield Park I kept on getting Tom and Thomas confused  Plus, they have practically the same name

I usually don't bother with researching actors

Teehee... Funny pictures. e we

Do they all look like this? Dunno who that actor is, but there are people who look like him in way too many shows, and they're all the same character, I swear to god. (also, that is the very first image that comes up when you search for "white guy," so...)

Uh... No. O_o
His face doesn't actually ring a bell... I guess I'm just uncultured xD
To me, they all had a Benedict Cumberbatch as 'Sherlock' look to them; similar eye shape, similar hair to him in Sherlock form... I don't know xD Maybe I'm just odd.

EDIT: Just googled them... They look nothing like Benedict Cumberbatch. There is something wrong with me. O_o

I've noticed they they've been casting a lot of zoey dechenel (neither of those are spelt correctly) in american dramas, or rather, non-comedies over the past few years.
