In class last week I taught students what angular altitude and azimuth are (degrees above the horizon [0°-90°] and degrees around the horizon [0°-360°], respectively). This is a college level lab and it was two hours long (one hour lecture, one hour lab work).
One of only eight questions on their post lab was "what is the altitude of the setting sun?" More than half of the class got it wrong.
Me: Why do we call it sunset?
Student: Because that is when it goes below the horizon.
Me: Right! So... what is the angle between that and the horizon?
Student: 90°
Me: ...
Student: *writes down answer*
Me: ...
I'm reasonably certain that I could ask anyone in this thread for the answer and they would get it right without the planetarium experience these yabbos had. Thor didn't have to explain this to Jane Foster. I am disappoint.
