Looooooong, what inspire you to write the story from the beginning?

The characters. I really just liked the stories they were telling me. and they only seem to want to tell me stories when I'm driving or working.
They all have interesting back stories and I'm trying to get those across with the memoir style storytelling. Like Sammy, he was the drummer for an 80's metal band that made some stardom, but when that ended he went on to be a truck driver. Cameron is his best friend and was a drummer in his own band, the two met when their bands did a tour together, his had no such fame. He married had a kid, wife died, and now plays uncle to his own child. Anna Lee was the guitarist with Cam in their band, her sister was the singer, sister married their band manager who then killed her and "disappeared" (Lee and Will -the bassist- killed him) now she owns the theater/music hall in town. Libby-Mae is Cameron's sister and adoptive mother to his son, she's basically a stay at home mom who cans and jellies, she has little to no backstory. Tawney Ezra Lee-Jones is the kid, he's raised by his moms and uncle and eventually Sammy(his godfather) comes to live with them. It's mostly a story about TJ growing up and bits of those back stories come out.
But I'm stuck with basic childhood events to base the little stories around.

What genre of story is that?
Have you thought of what 'message' you want to convey?

If the focus is on Tawney, you may look into what a various things kid does to bring out those backstories?

No real message, other than family is what you make.
And it's not really focused so much on TJ as it is on the times Sammy comes to visit. Hence the working title When Sammy Comes Home

... You got your title. I always have trouble finding titles. T__T

I am not familiar with that genre. So, no more ideas from me.
Depending on what kind of writer you are.
I feel that, there must be some driving force, inspiration point, motivation urge to keep you going. I have tried various angle to put in for more than ten years. I am now slowly getting the hang on how to complete this epic madness of looooooong story.

But in the spirit of nano, even the characters are not talking to you, you MAY try force something out of it, I assume you haven't write out all the back stories? Write them out, and see how to link it. Or you can also think from the title when sammy came.

When will he come? Afternoon? Weekends? Special days? rainy days? sudden surprise? when he need comfort?
Rotating those possibilities and see how this can link back to your back stories.
At the end, I think you just need to work on it. Force some words out.

Lastly, above are merely encouragement, no forcing if you do have other MOAR important things to attend to.

Yeah I guess with work and applying/interviewing for new jobs, the holidays and whatnot I've just been too far out of my own head to sit down and focus.

Now there, so many uncertain life changing choices you have to attend to.
Take a break on writing, get your life stable first.

I had been busy with uni work lately, so I had a few days where I didn't write any words...I plan to make up for that, though I don't realistically expect to be able to complete the 50,000 words.

Only like five days left...
I have around 4k+ to complete my goal.

Lingling~ don't be limited by Nano's 50k. You can set your amount, anything you want.

I wrote for five hours straight on my plane flight home, and am up to almost 28k. I think I can make it; the story is writing itself still. I had moments on the airplane when only the stiffness in my fingers made me realize where I was and what I was doing. It was like being in a trance, just describing and telling the story as someone else was telling it to me. Absolutely awesome feeling.

In the trance... I had that moment too... but wow, nothing like yours.
I already thank to god when I can crank out 5k nonstop. XD

As for Nano. I kinda gave up. I just had too much going on for this to be productive. *sigh* Maybe I'll just try to write a tiny bit each month instead of a whole bunch in one month.

I'm almost done with NaNo (I actually didn't fail! I must have been replaced with an alien xD). Writing a little is good!

I hate it when I lose my inspiration. D: I've not written anything for my novel since the 10th. :(

I wanted to finish, but looks like I'll not even get that much... Ugh... Everything this month is just crashing down around me... :(

I hate times liek those. :I I had a rough week too.

Finals or family?

Neither... I have no one... I'm all by myself with NO ONE for Thanksgiving... -.- And honestly I hate it.
We don't have the money to fly me home. T_T

I've got lasagna and pumpkin and pie and a 10 page paper to write... yay me... -.-

:< That's no fun. But if the money isn't there, then there's not much you cna do. Maybe Skype chat wth them? Actually taht sounds sad and pathetic, not really all that helpful.
I would just treat it like anyother day and next time you do get to see your family, treat that as a make-up thanksgiving. :3


I'm just had nightmare upon nightmare so I've been sleepgni like crap. And stressful job applications, and my dad being a hover parnet and telling me how I have basically ruined my life by working two jobs and not moving back home. Oh and my department manager made a second schedule (not the main one) and wants to write me up for a no-call no-show for a day I was scheduled (on the main schedule) to have off.

Doesn't help that my roommates just shove it in my faces that they get to be with family when I can't.... -.- T_T Even if I wanted to skype chat, my aunt doesn't have Skype and they'll all be together, when I'm stuck here... T_T Well, we actually kinda do have the money, I just hate traveling through airports around Thanksgiving. >.<

I've got 2 10 page term papers that I've not started either, plus one more shorter paper, plus a few more presentations, and finals.... T_T And just stupid hard things with roommates and just life in general. T_T
