There was once a witch, only this witch was not a bad witch. She was a good witch. And she didn't live in the woods like most other witches were rumored to stay. She lived in the kingdom with everyone else. In fact, she was treated as nicely and was as highly respected as the queen of the lands.
The reason was that she had the cure for a broken heart.
Well, many wouldn't consider it a typical 'cure'. Her fox companion could sniff out a broken heart. Sometimes just seeing the cute little critter would make people forget their troubles. Sometimes, seeing her bright clothing and warm smile did the trick. Other times, though, the witch used a little bit of her magic to help people be happy again.
Every day, she would get up early and start chasing down sadness and would try to beat it back into a tiny little corner. She did this because she'd had a broken heart before, and she hated the experience. She'd decided that no one deserved to hurt that much- they all deserved to be happy.
The people in the kingdom say that she was the one who actually brought the king and queen together in the first place, but the witch refused to take credit for the action. "I really didn't do anything." She said. "I was just following my fox. It just happened that I almost ran over them both."
The witch may have been klutzy, but she wouldn't want to be any other way. As long as she could make people smile, she'd keep at it.
