What do you think of it? That's one of the two places I was deciding between. I have plans in the next few years to get my TESOL certification, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to go to China or South Korea. I'm leaning more towards South Korea, to be honest.

South Korea would be a lot easier for you. If family/friends mail you something, you actually get it instead of bribing the government for your package and even then you might not get it. You can have heating in the school you teach at once it gets below 32 degrees (at my school, just being in the 30s gets the heat on) while in China, there is no heating at all in the schools. We have more foreign foods here. Heck, I can now buy chicken noodle soup just like I used to in America with the same brand and everything. Public transportation here is awesome. The medical insurance, medical facilities, and the doctors/dentists/etc skills are better than America's. I love the outdoor markets but if you prefer you can go to Homeplus or E-Mart which is like Walmart or Target in the States.
If you really want to go to China, cool, just maybe make South Korea your stop for a year before hand. Get used to the culture difference... like a stepping stone ;)

oh yes... *sigh*... if you like pretty boys... that is the way to go. I wouldn't date one, but man they are enjoyable to watch. Naw, can't wait to get stateside and find me a guy who wears jeans that are normal and NOT skinny.

I was leaning more towards South Korea because they still have Oreo O's cereal. I'm kidding. I was hoping to decide soon so I could start teaching myself Korean or Mandarin. My 'sister', Jamie, is teaching in China right now (or will be soon) but I didn't know anyone teaching in Korea, until now.
I've watched a lot of South Korean dramas, though. And movies. Won't have time for a boyfriend, I'll have too many TV shows and movies to watch.

I know it is, maiden. I like to keep up on politics in other countries.  As much as Jamie'd love me to join her in China, I was pretty much 70% South Korea vs 30% China anyway. The only thing that was really holding me back from making a decision right now was that I know more of the Mandarin language than I do Korean. The only Korean I know I've picked up from TV shows, which can't be entirely accurate. ^^;

But the TV shows is a recommended way to learn the culture of this place. So good for you for watching them.
There is usually someone around who can speak English anywhere you go. All major traveling places have English printed too. It is very foreigner friendly. Just be sure to always bow to those older than you. The older generation worries that they are forgotten and no longer respected. They just want that assurance that they are still worth something to humanity.

Of course! I treat my elders here in the States much the same way. For instance, I was practically running to work yesterday, but was stopped by an older woman and her caretaker and even though it made me late, I stayed and talked to them for a bit before I politely excused myself. I'd like to think I know a bit more about South Korean culture than others but I know that when I go there, there will be so much I don't know. @__@ So places that are foreigner friendly are nice. But I'm also not going to keep to myself just because it's easier that way- I'm definitely an explorer by nature. :D

When I say foreigner friendly, I mean that you can go to the grocery store and figure out how to buy something that you know how to eat or can figure out how to eat. That if you get lost (and there is a chance you might) that someone at a nearby desk or information place can help you.
