That's because you're in the crowd. Not in a bad way, just saying that's why you don't see it. Because you've been here and have your friends who're still here. I've been feeling like this for like the last few months. And really, it makes me sad. And it doesn't help that the people who've been here for years don't seem to want to branch out of their comfort zone and talk to others who they don't normally talk to.

Oh, I've been gone many times, due to not having time due to school... and since the last time I came back... I just feel super overlooked. And it's really not helping, because I've been having a lot of self esteem issues lately, and so I just need people to talk to - because I'm not hugely social in person... I tend to socialize more online... but if I go into threads, and I'm constantly overlooked... that really just makes me feel like crying. I'm sick of it. I'm ignored enough in person, now online. :(

I'm with you on that, nemo. I've seen many a thread where it's extremely difficult to break into the conversation because the people having it have been in X hangout together for 2-3 years and most of what they're saying is based around knowing one another, or inside jokes, or what have you, and then I'm left feeling horribly awkward and out of place.
Though, to be fair, there are other areas that are quite welcoming and I've met some truly wonderful people here just the same (which is a large part of what keeps me coming here).

I'm in the crowd? I talk to a small handfull of people and I HATE being only known as the 'mad poster'. I don't branch out anymore because I like less than half the people I meet. But you still have a friend in me, Nemo! and Zephi and peeps when they're on.

Like I'll try to get into a hangout- and people are like "Nemo you need to just jump into the conversation." And I do do that. And I still get overlooked! D: Even in the smaller threads... *sighs* D:
I just feel like even in places where people say that they're friendly and welcoming, it's only because it's what is expected of them, and not because that's what they really want. Because bringing more people into their group is not what they want. *shrugs* But that's just me, seeing it that way, I suppose.

Seriiii<3
I struggling with not liking certain people, and they frequent a lot of threads that I usually post in, so I tend to disappear once they come around. I know that sounds bad, but it's really hard for me to be around them and not say anything.

Aww, sweetie! -hugs- You kinda sound like me. Most of my socializing is done online these days because I am still looking for work and thus without a car. Makes it rather difficult to get out and about (that and x amount of rejections can get a person pretty down, so I've not wanted to go out and play the socialite). I've been at my wit's end more than a few times and the bf is the accidentally insensitive at the worst times sort, so most of my encouragement and support has come from the net (which probably sounds a bit sad).

it is like 1000 pages over her normal goal
and it is a huge goal
1000 pages would have even been a lot.
don't let it get to you, nemo.

Not saying it's a big crowd. You have the people you're comfortable with. Which I understand. And I do understand that. And I think that's why most of the people who've been here for ages are hesitant to branch out, because of that. But I think that's why I see the 'groups' - abet smaller in some circles - as being less welcoming to me. But that could be because I just feel like I get told off for speaking my mind at times, and sometimes I feel like that just needs to happen - being straight and to the point. Plus I've just been dealing with personal issues offline which haven't been helping my mindset... *shrugs*
