Hello Hummy & Kukon.

I really liked Zombieland. It could have used some more zombies, but it was a nice chance of pace from the current batch of zombie movies.
For me the initial draw was Bill Murray in a zombie movie.
I'm a big Bill Murray fan, I blame my Grandmother, she introduced me to Saturday Night Live (& Benny Hill). :D
Of course she also introduced me to Dark Shadows, The Night Stalker & The Twilight Zone.

Another zombie comedy that I liked was Shaun of the Dead.

hiya Damia!
*waves*
i haven't seen 'shaun of the dead' either.
it sounds like it must be a spoofie type movie?
your grandma has good taste.
i love bill muray too, he's so funny.
i don't want to give anything away about the movie,
but i was shocked when 'it' happened because i didn't see it coming.
for some sick reason it cracked me up though, after i got over the shock.
i always use rule number one.....cardio!
i love the part about just needing to be faster than the chunkie people.
man i have a sick sense of humor O.o when did that happen?

so what's new with you sweetie?
i am fighting off a cold but i think it is winning.
i keep falling asleep without any medication too.

Hello again Hummy.
Work has been kicking me around lately. T_T
I haven't had time to do much of anything.

I was also surprised when "it" happened.
I had to buy my husband a copy of the Zombie Survival guide for his birthday.

Zombie Land makes me crave twinkies. I just have to have one after watching it.

@ Daria Flagg ~~ lol, was he scared of sombies after watching 'zombiland'?
i wonder if there is a dummie book about zombies?
speaking of 'it' have you ever seen that movie by stephen king?
i read the book first and it scared the bejebus out of me!
I still cannot look at a clown without thinking of that movie/book.
if you haven't seen it i highly suggest watching it but not alone and not in the dark!

aw, sorry work has been so difficult.
hope it gets better soon.

No he loves zombies & movies in that genre. In fact one of his avatars from the site we met on is a zombie. :D
I can't remember if Zombie Land referenced the Zombie Survival Guide or if someone told us about it when we were talking about wanting to see the movie. I had to search for it for a while because our local bookstore was going out of business when I was trying to find it. The only book like it they had left was the Alien Survival Guide. Apparently there are several books like that out.

I love "It", Tim Curry is just so scary as that clown. I have watched a bunch of the Stephen King movies.
At one point in time I was naming virtual fish for the different movies. Raven's tank is still called "Salem's Lot", but I haven't named any of the fish in a while. :(
I like most of the movies based off his stories, I think "Stand by Me" was one of the first ones I watched. "Rose Red" is probably my favorite that was turned into a mini-series.

Did you ever watch "The Dead Zone" series that ran on USA network that was adapted from his novel?
We don't have cable so we have been buying the series when we find it, only need 2 more to finish.
It has been a really good series to watch. I never was sure why it got canceled, but a lot of great shows get canceled without any good reason.

hiya Damia!
i haven't watched 'the dead zone' in awhile.
i don't have cable either, sad economy ;[.
i do love almost all of stephen kings movies, book and mini series too.
his mind is so bizzare!
i would be freaked out to spend a night in his house.
i am sure it would be stormy and creepy and he would look so scary!

i agree, tim curry was so creepy as the clown i had a hard time seeing him in the character.
i have that movie on dvd and always start to watch it then get to scared and stop!
i think i will have a halloween-a-thon and include 'it' and try to watch it all.....then not sleep for a week!
i am such a chicken it is not even funny and it amazes me that i love the horror genre so much.

have you seen any good psychological thrillers lately?

i hope we are on at the same time some day, i sure miss talking to you like we did in Kissies' thread.
thanks for posting and i hope to talk with you soon.

Hi people! Came here because of the title, I love horror movies! :D

I haven't seen every Saw-movie, just the 1st and the 3rd (I think. O.O) They really aren't my type of horror, they just gross me out. Sorry fans, I'm too old school...

Does anyone else here love del Toro movies? :3

i haven't seen 'del toro' Isendor: what is it about?

i'm not a 'saw' series fan myself.
i think i have seen 'saw 4' and then this last one, which really grossed me out.
i didn't eat any of my popcorn either because everytime i went to take a bite some body part was severed or fell out of a body.
*gags*
thank you for posting and please feel free to critique any horror movie, oldies are just as good to me!

Guillermo del Toro is a Mexican movie maker (director, writer etc.) and he has made some awesome horror movies! (Ok, thrillers in modern definitions!) Pan's Labyrinth, for example. I just loved his The Orphanage. He has also made other kind of movies (Hellboy-series, Kung Fu Panda 2) but I think he's the best with horror! It's also refreshing to see scary movies in other languages beside English, although Hollywood is planning to rip of The Orphanage... :(
Oh yeah, hummy: you really should check out cinemassacre.com site, they have this Monster Madness where they review all kind of horror movies, even the old ones! :D Heard of it?

no i haven't heard of it but i will check it out and thank you for introducing me to the site!
i really appreciate it.
i have seen 'Pan's labyrinth' and i did love it as well.
i have seen the first 'hellboy' i think that is all and i liked it too, much to my surprise.
it could be the way he directs.

have you seen 'the interview' i think is the title.
it's Japanes and probably the only movie that almost made me vomit!
it has the creepy Japanese horror feel to it from the git go!

Never heard of it, but AVGN (the host of Cinemassacre) has one Monster Madness-month (he makes one season per October, and one episode per day! ) dedicated to Godzilla-movies. I had no idea there were so many of them, around 30!!! O.O But Asian horror tends to be good because it's hard to predict what happens in it. I think that Western people can predict Western movies' endings well, but Asians are so different so they always surprise us.
Usually everybody dies.

Oh yeah, you HAVE TO find del Toro's "Don't be afraid of the dark"-movie's trailer on Youtube! I haven't screamed because of a trailer for years, but this one was well made! :D And I warned you...! He made the script for the movie.

Hey, what's the point in scary movies if they weren't scary enough to make people scream? :D Imagine that trailer to a movie theater, I would love to hear people screaming... On the other hand the oldest horror movies just make me laugh, but I love to watch the because they look so... DIFFERENT! They're quite artistic, too! :O The first Dracula movies (the Spanish version is the best, by the way! Got the hint from Cinemassacre) are so elegant.
But watching the classic ones can be boring since everyone know the ending... :D

The plot there doesn't sound like horror at all! But I have to check it out, but del Toro's Julia's eyes is the next one. I also like zombie movies, they do have the disgusting gore side of Saw in them but they're.... I don't know, Romero makes the best zombie movies.
Eh, I really have to go now, it's getting late. Good night! Or day, or morning. :D I try to come back for this thread once my school allows me. :D

it doesn't but it was very creepy and gorey.
i did almost throw up, seriously.
but strangely i could not stop watching it.

'chain letter' is a pretty good movie as well.
not as horrie as i like but still suspensful and a good watch.

'the ring' is just too scary for me to watch alone.
AND i unplug the phone and turn off my cell!

----------

thank you so much for chatting with me today.
see you when you can.
and yes Romero is great!

this was a really good movie but not horrie again.
