Honestly I don't mind it.
Caskets and funerals are friggen' expensive.
And if walmart is selling them on the cheap, well that's a good thing then.
They are a GENERAL store. So..yeah. xD

hahaha oh no, I agree with you. Did you know that in some Wal-Marts in Africa, you can buy a car? No Lie....I think.

I think that is ok, I do not see anything wrong with it. Now I can see a reason for me to shop at wal-mart, but hopefully the casket does not fall apart the first week I have it.

I want to see a link where you heard this at, if so I think that would be pretty messed up! Wal-Mart has enough of the industries out there what next, Wal-Mart realistate? On top of that, most of the stuff that comes from Wal-Mart is usually of low quality. That's the business they are in.

They are. They are ambushing local businesses with their bulk buying power on the short-term and when the competition is gone, they jack up their prices. I don't find many "bargains" there at all (you won't either if you actually comparison shop!) and I loathe the apparent philosophy and attitude of the chain.

@Kole: Just go to walmart.com and do a search for caskets. All through this thread I've had trouble wrapping my mind around it and after seeing your post, I actually went to look. They do indeed have them for sale. They seem very cheap from what I remember the prices when I had to choose one for my husband.

It really doesn't surprise me at all. Believe it or not, the funeral business is a huge moneymaker. After all, the probability you're going to die eventually is 100%.
So yeah, not a surprise that another company is cashing in on the business of death. To tell the truth, I'm more surprised it took them so long to do it.

wow, that's kindof weird. I didn't believe the post at first, but I just went and checked, and sure enough, there are different caskets.
I'd rather not have Walmart take over the world, but it is probably going to be a tie between Walmart and Disney.

Walmart is trying to take over the world, and slowly is. As for the caskets, I swear, I hope it was only a halloween thing. I have a few friends that work at different stores and they don't sell them.

I believe the caskets are generally sold online rather then in the store. And no, it's not just a Halloween thing.

I think it's funny, also.
I don't like walmart that much, but they do have decent sushi.
Can I get a casket that has the logo on printed on the top of it? :D

Wow. That's crazy. Didn't they sell caskets in that Employee of the Month movie at that huge Cosco-like store with Dane Cook?
It's like, I'm going to the store for milk... well could you pick me up a casket while your there? Haha what the heck.
I guess it's going to be Dracula's first choice next time, I bet he's a real bargain shopper.

in one town i lived in, walmart had the mayor or someone make a little law that no stores could be build within a certain distance of walmart. walmart was then built rignt next to the mall and now tha mall is out of business and is being torn down.
also, walmart is known for moving in somewhere and lowering their prices to be lower than the other stores, then when that store goes under walmart jacks up their prices to where you are payint more than what you wouls have been paying at the store that went under.
they also will build a store somewhere and make all the other stores in that little town shut down then they will close their store and make people drive miles to the nexrt closest walmarh an hour away.
I've seen it happen.

Wal-Mart has been trying to take over the world since it came about D;
And now they are selling caskets. Wtf.
Next they are going to put weird mind control things in their products. From there, we will turn into mindless zombies, working in Wal-Mart Corporation Concentration Camps, making their products without pay because we will have no thoughts of our own except "WAL-MART IS GOD"
>.>
I had fun. Leave me alone lol.
EDIT: Oh, did ya know that when a wal-mart goes in the neighborhood, the surrouding land value goes down >.> That sucks. I have one by my house D: 2 if you do it in a 3 mile radius. One a "Super" and one just a groccery walmart.

Sooner or later Wal-Mart will have its corporate hands in every industry known to man. Next thing you know Wal-Mart will start it's own power plant and capitalize on everyone's power needs. Cheaper is not always better, but what can I say, it's the perfect example of globalization. Maybe they will make the death industry be a bit more competitive. When one dies, I have to say from personal experience, every so called friend shows up or long lost relatives, and every creditor to get as much of the estate as possible, including the burial/funeral services.

Well I saw them offered online with prices starting at eight hundred fifty dollars for a simple regular lined casket. I don't want to be buried when I die, I prefer cremation, cheaper and easier to deal with.
