Monsun: That's really cool that you've been published before. Way to go!
BinkaKitty: A full color manga would be quite a challenge, but I've seen people do it and get published. Have you heard of Inverloch of Phoenix Requiem by any chance? They are done by a talented artist and her colored pages are amazing.
As for myself, I'm not really into the comicing thing in order to get published. I started my comic because I had an idea I wanted to write and I was hoping it would improve my artwork.
Speaking of which, do you guys have art galleries or comics online? I'm really curious to see what you've done. My comic is of course in my signature, and I have a deviantart page Mad-Jester356 on deviantART. What about you?

i don't have anything online for several reasons. one, a good portion of my work isn't done yet, and second, i don't have a scanner to use. T_T as soon as i get a scanner, i;m probably going to put at least one thing on the art post here for people to critic it. if i ever get that chance, i'll mention it here.

i don't really like putting my work on the internet either. with the way some people are, they would claim it as their own. >_> i've seen that on youtube before, too. there was this very good amv i found a few years ago, and i think the creator of it shut down their account. anyway, the video reappeared, and the person posting it said it was their first video they made.

Hm. I've never really concerned myself with art thieves. I just don't think I'm good enough that people would steal from me.
My friend was in an interesting situation once. She made a Inu-Yasha flash that got fairly big on the internet and had people coming to her page asking her if she had was sure the video was hers. After the video had been posted up there for a good year or two.

Awesomeness.
That made me think of a question. Do you create your manga primarily on paper, or do you use the computer.
The comic I'm writing now is all hand drawn, but I'm going to attempt to dabble in the world of tones.
I do envy the artists out there that can create depth in their drawings just through line width and don't have to use tones at all. :cough:CLAMP:cough:

I'm going to write a manga, but the idea for it is still forming in my head. All I have is a plot D;

@itsthepolice: Just keep working with it. The more you think about it, the better the ideas are that you come up with. Just try sketching some scenes out and I'm sure you'll come up with the rest.
@Monsun: I hear ya. I like working on paper, it feels a lot easier than the computer, even with a tablet. It's easier for me to make a pencil do what I want rather than an art program.

Hm, well good luck with that. Hopefully it becomes less vague.
I on the other hand haven't worked on a page in a few weeks. This one page is like running into a brick wall, I can't get passed it, even though it's practically done. -.-

Haha, finally sat down today and finished the darn thing, which is sad since that last post was six days ago. It's done though, and I'm finally on to the next page.
I hope your page doesn't keep you stuck as long as I was.

you know, i really wonder how manga artists manage to draw so fast. i mean, most gat 20 pages done a week. i know i can draw rather fast, but not that fast! even if i worked non stop, i wouldn't be able to getr 20 pages done in a week. maybe 2 weeks at the fastest, but that would normally take me about a month or so.

I know what you mean! If I drew my fastest, I think I might be able to get five pages done in a week, but even that is stretching it.
But for most manga artists, that's their only job right? I mean, I have school and a part time job so I don't that much time to be working on my comic.

right now, i can't get much done cuz i have serious artist block! >_< i just can't seem to draw anything right right now. in the past week, i've started several pictures, but never finished any cuz they weren't turning out the way i wanted. it's really staring to annoy me! T_T

I suggest getting out a blank page and just draw without thinking. If it's not working out the way you want move to another area of the page and start drawing something. Blast music if that's your thing.
I find drawing doodles helps because I kind of get all the crap out of the way and get some practice in without committing to some great piece of art that I won't end up finishing.
