Lily opened her mouth to call for her brother, but didn't get the chance to as Rue appeared next to them. Indeed, he'd sensed Farrah's distress and had rushed to her as quickly as he could.

"The baby's coming," Lily told him as he took Farrah's hand. He nodded distractedly, and Lily could see the worry and concern on his face. Getting up, she went around quickly to close the blinds and curtains. She didn't want any nosy neighbors poking around, especially not now. After a moment, she realized what else she had to do. She wasn't a mage, by any means, but she had the slightest touch of magic in her, and it might just be enough to dampen any sounds that tried to escape the house. It wouldn't be perfect, but it would help. Laying her hand on the front door, she concentrated hard and forced her little seed of magic to ripple out and envelop the room they were all in. That was the best she would be able to do.

Farrah reached out for Rue, her pupils dilating with the force of the infant drawing on her energy. She inhaled as Rue came near, grasping onto the comfort emanating from him and whimpering at the waves of fear coming off of him as well. They'd both been educated on the matter, and practiced, but every elven delivery is different and one could never be fully prepared for it. To be honest, she didn't feel the least prepared at the moment.

Her hand clenched around his as a contraction ripped through her, her pelvis bone tilting with the pressure of the infant easing against it. Elongated fingernails pierced into Rue's hand as his mate shrieked against her clenched teeth. Good god, why couldn't one just skip through this to the part where the baby is out??

The air bubble formed around her, Lily's face set in concentration as the glowing field of magic enveloped the shrieking woman. At the moment she struggled to show her appreciation, her thoughts consumed with the ripping pains emanating from her pelvic area.

Rue winced, but didn't say anything when Farrah's nails dug into his skin. His pain from that was nothing compared to hers at the moment, and besides, he had a tiny spark of magic just like his sister did; he could close the wounds later so they could heal on their own.

"Try to relax," he said to her, using his free hand to brush her hair out of her face. His voice shook a bit out of worry for his mate and child. "It will be easier if you do." He glanced a bit helplessly at Lily and William, but he knew that Lily wouldn't be able to help him coach and comfort Farrah. Lily was focused completely on keeping the muffling bubble around the room, she had no attention to spare for anything else. "You're doing wonderfully, my love. You can do this."

Farrah whimpered as she felt the searing pain of the infant making it's way down her, eager to be out. Any moment now surely the child would crown. Elven pregnancies never took as long as human pregnancies. While human infants were weak and fragile, needing aid in getting out of the mother oftentimes, elven infants were more than capable. Their capability of drawing on the mother's energy via the umbilical cord meant that if the infant was struggling in its journey it would only draw more energy from the mother to give it that extra boost. If the mother had magic abilities then the infant could draw on those as well, utilizing them whether he or she had inherited the ability or not. Sadly, the only ability that Farrah had was the ability to read people through means individual to that person. Unfortunately, that wouldn't help her infant here, and if it had drawn on his father's ability the only thing it could do is heal itself.

Farrah listened to the comforting words of her mate, nostrils flaring as she inhaled a breath and her eyelids fluttered closed over her expanded pupils that nearly took up the entire pupil by now. She looked inside her, remembering the tips she'd been given long ago. If the baby had the ability of healing then she might be able to use a small source of it to dull the pain.

Forcing through the pain to concentrate she focused on the energy emanating from the infant inside of her. The infant could feel the tug, but didn't react adversely due to the inability to see it's life source as a threat. Instead, the infant fused with her, tenderly reaching out with its magic and intertwining them; sharing the energy it possessed. The ripples of pain soothed ever so slightly, but she'd take every drip of relief that she could. Each wave of energy from the child was like a drop of morphine for a human, allowing Farrah to sink her head into the couch cushion and breath with somewhat control.

"You're doing great," Rue encouraged. He knew what his mate was doing, and if it made her more comfortable and made the birth easier, then he was all for it. He would lend her his own energy, if he could, but it wouldn't be of any use to her at the moment. He kept hold of her hand as she leaned back a bit. There was nothing else he could do but encourage her; for the moment, it was all her. "Keep going, my love. You're so close."

Farrah breathed through her teeth, baring them as she forced out controlled breaths that huffed out of her tense jaw. As she forced her eyes open she could see the haze of energy gliding over her eyes, the glowing energy rippling over iris, pupil, and the whites of her eyes. She blinked against the light, but her body found comfort in it as if it knew the sign well already and had been long awaiting it. Rue's words were muffled in her ears, but she could make out the words, watching him through the haze of her and the baby's energy, the colors swirling together similar but tinted differently.

Close, so close! She screeched against as her pelvis popped, her back arched awkwardly off the cushion as she desperately sought to push the infant out. She felt hands on her hips as someone pulled her leggings and underwear from her to ensure a safeway for the infant.

It was Rue helping Farrah with her clothes. He seemed to be the only one, at the moment, who was able to.

"Farrah, dearest," Lily ground out from near the door. She had her hands flat on the door and there was a sheen of sweat on her brow from maintaining the bubble that kept what was going on from reaching the outside world. "I understand it's difficult, I really do, but I can't concentrate if you keep screaming yourself hoarse."

Rue just ignored his sister in favor of his mate. Lily always got a little testy when she was tired, and she was stretching herself thin to keep the house private at the moment. Farrah was more important.

Farrah could understand Lily's complaints but in light of the moment was slightly more than irritated that she was being told to hush the screaming when she was currently in the process of bringing a new life into the planet. Shaking the pain from her mind, the gleaming lights of energy flaring from her eyes casting a glow in the room. Tendrils of wild curls were stuck to her face from sweat, and she fluttered her eyelids to keep it from her eyes. The illuminating energy from her eyes trickled through her body, slithering through her veins as a network of iridescent trails decorated her fair skin.

She hummed with concentration and focused on the link between her and her infant, trembling as she felt the final push and the ensuing release of pressure that could only mean one thing.

Rue wasn't thinking, he just reacted when he reached out and caught the newborn before it could fall. Immediately, he could see the tiny pointed ears and the golden fuzz of hair, and he was instantly enamored with the newborn. After a moment, he came to his senses and checked something else.

"Farrah, love," he said softly, looking at his mate and smiling brilliantly. "It's a girl."

Farrah laughed with joy and relief as she looked at her mate holding their infant. She smiled weakly at Rue, her body collapsed on the couch as she was unwilling to move in fear of the efforts only making her hurt more. Ripples of pain still emanated throughout her, but it was far less than before the baby came out.

The glow of energy flared and disippated, the attachment between the mother and infant separated as the baby came into the world and no longer needed Farrah's nutrients. With one last sigh of relief, she relaxed as the darkness fell over her, welcoming the rest. She'd been told about this stage, when the body in response to the flare and release of energy when into a lighter version of a coma. She'd been shocked that mothers oftentimes welcomed it, thinking for sure that she'd want to spend those first few moments with her infant. Only, now she was welcoming it, relishing in the moment as her thoughts came to a cease.

Rue looked at his mate for a moment, worried, before realizing what was going on. Once he was sure she would be okay, he went and gently cleaned up the newborn before wrapping her in a little blanket. Then he went to sit next to his mate until she woke up. He rested one hand on hers, so that if she needed to borrow his power, she could.

When the excitement was all over, Lily cautiously released the bubble she'd cast over the room and slumped heavily against the wall. She was exhausted just from holding the spell for so long, and her legs wouldn't support her anymore for the moment.

William kenlt beside his mate, reaching out and stroking her hair. Leaning foward, he placed a gentle kiss on the side of her head, whispering to her in encouragement, "You did good Lily." He knew he wasn't one to be skilled in heart to heart conversations, but had grown to know that she knew when he was making the effort.

He glanced over at Rue, his hand on his mate's and the newborn wrapped up in his arms. The sight spurred memories of his argument with Lily earlier, his stomach sinking at the thought of upsetting her so much. If only he could take his words back...

"You're a family now, Rue," he smiled over at him. "How does it feel?"

Lily's eyelids fluttered slightly when she sensed her mate next to her.

"'M exhausted..." she murmured to him. "Just so tired..." All she wanted to do was sleep for a while and ignore the world. She didn't think the could deal with Farrah and Rue being overexcited about the baby, not yet. Not when she was so uncertain about being able to have a child with William.

"Why don't you find out?" Rue replied, a teasing glimmer in his eyes. He was in such high spirits at the moment that nothing could bring him back down yet. "It's the best feeling in the world." He looked down at the newborn in his arms with pride, and then looked back at his friend, glancing between him and Lily.

William could sense the weakness emanating off of Lily, and massaged into her shoulder as he responded to Rue, "I think we might head back home and get some rest. We'll have our phones nearby in case you need anything, but I think we could do with some rest and you two with some time with your newborn. How does that sound?"

Rue considered for a moment, and then nodded. Rest sounded good all around.

"You know you're welcome here any time," he reminded them. He looked at William. "Remember what we were talking about earlier, alright?" He sent William a meaningful glance. He knew the argument with Lily, it seemed so long ago, now, was still bothering William, and the couple needed to hash things out before they could really come to an agreement.

William stomach made an odd churn at Rue's comment, and he thanked the higher entity that the sensation wasn't accompanied by a noise of any kind. He nodded in response, licking his lips and moved to help Lily up from her crouched position on the floor against the wall.

"I remember, and we'll finish the conversation later when there's a moment of peace. Though," he glanced over at the infant in his arms and offered a joking smile, "I have a feeling that it'll be awhile before that happens."

"You need to finish the conversation with your mate, first," Rue replied softly. After a moment, he nodded towards the door. "Go on and take her home. She looks almost as exhausted as Farrah. The major excitement here is over for now, it's time to take care of your mate." With that, he turned his attention back to his mate and newborn daughter.
