Valentine watched her rather nervously. Did she have the ability to leap down without harm? If she did, she obviously didn’t think to use it, or didn’t trust herself. Nonetheless, he bypassed the vertical bridge and leapt off the roof, squaring his feet with his shoulders and bending his knees. When he hit, it sounded more like a sack of bricks had fallen to the ground, but otherwise, he straightened up without harm.

“I’m glad you got over your fear enough to move.” He said. “We’re only a bit off now, across another road, down an alley, and along a back way, and we’ll be at the house. Let’s just keep an eye out just in case, eh?” He went to the mouth of the alley and looked outside. No one overtly suspicious seemed near, and he didn’t sense especially misplaced energy.
