I noticed that one of the listings you have is for governess and master of the house. Would you be interested in combining that with one of the supernatural ones, or maybe making it steampunk rather then strictly historical?

I wouldn't mind mixing ideas.

I love the idea of steampunk, especially if it's not the focus of the plot, just in the background.
I was thinking perhaps the master of the house is a ghost, or perhaps cursed, and either way can only take on solid form from dusk until dawn.

Lately I've really been loving the idea of RPing with ghosts so that idea definitely tickles my fancy!

That's a tough choice. I usually prefer females, but I like the idea of making up the back story of the master of the house... I have some really good gothic themed ideas... for example, perhaps it is rumored that he killed his first wife and mother of his child... So, I guess I would go with the master of the house, unless you would prefer otherwise.

I like the idea of him being a ghost, but solid at night, and trying to hide that he is a ghost until his daughter is grown to prevent her from becoming a ward of the state, as they have no living relatives.

That sounds good to me!
I think I like that idea too, because if he only becomes solid at night it would give a good reason for him to need to hire a governess to help with his daughter and to help take care of the house during the day.

I don't mind playing the governess, especially since you already have somewhat of a back story made for the master of the house. :)

It's been a little while since I did forum roleplay, especially one on one, so I'm not sure where to start... Do we make a plot synopsis first, or character profiles?

The way I usually do it, is I start with a plot synopsis then I have my partners post their character profiles and then we just jump right into it! :D

I like to make sure everything is figured out and decided before starting a one on one, it just makes the whole starting process much easier. :)

I like to decorate my RP threads nicely with a pretty title and usually a little picture relating to the RP and then the synopsis.

How does this sound:
Elmsly Manor has been the home of the Earls of Rathingar for centuries. It is old and outmoded, so it is not surprising that the young and beautiful socialite that the current earl married was not happy there. It was not long after Leonard Barrons, Earl of Rathingar married Anna Smythe, that there first and only child was born, and rumors flew that it had been a marriage to avoid shame, rather then one of love. Soon after Anna began to spend more and more time in London, and it was common knowlege that she was not faithful to her husband. Thus, when she died from falling down a flight of stairs, five years into the marriage, rumor said that he had been responsible, although an inquiry by police found him blameless.

The truth, however, may be stranger then fiction. No one has seen Lord Rathingar between the hours of dawn and dusk since his wife's death, and the people of the local village now avoid Elmsly Manor at all costs. But Leanna, Leonard's daughter, still needs cared for, and educated as befits a woman of her station. This he has hired a governess, from distant [inset place here], a certain Miss {insert name here}.

I think I already have a character that would work well for this role play, so I won't need to do much there, but it'll take me a while to design a title and hunt for a graphic,

As for a title... How about "Between Dusk and Dawn"? A little cheesy, I know...

Would it be alright if I played Leanna too? That way there would be room for back and forth interaction to take place during daylight hours as well.
