The rules say not to bring back posts that are 6+ months old but according to the mod that's only certain forums :(

At least this wasn't an infraction but I'm still pretty upset about it, I checked the rules and I checked the history of the forum before posting... my post was on Euthanasia and the post I was referred to was on "Youth in Asia"... come on! I know if I read it out loud it sounds the same but if I'm doing a quick check for duplicate posts I'm not going to even look at that post :(
Kalliste, the debates forum is only 3 pages long, in a forum that small, there's no need for repeat topics, no matter how old the subject may be, not if it's something that is always being discussed, as euthanasia is. The "youth in Asia" thread was about euthanasia, the OP just didn't fully understand the subject and had mis-spelt the name.

The rules do clearly state that the 6 month cut-off doesn't apply to forums were the subject discussed stays the same..

In some forums where the subject matter remains relatively unchanged, necroing is not an issue.

I will amend the rules however, to make it clear that in very small sub-forums, you need to check back to make sure you're not creating a repeat thread, and I will put this in the debate forum's rules also.

Lassi: I'm surprised that you're surprised, since it's in the main rules not to advertise other sites. We're obviously fairly lenient with clickable pets, but just like Gaia, and other sites, we prefer not to have people advertising other sites, porn or otherwise. It's Not really fair to us if you use us to gain referral hits or so on and so forth. It's an entirely different matter to tell someone privately, if they ask, where else you hang out. It's sort of like walking into someone's store and going "Hey guys! My stores better! Come there instead!", even if thats not your actual intent, the effect is similar. We're definitely not the only site with that rule, though we are smaller, and more nimble of staff, so it gets noticed more.

I understand Nightguant, though I've
never run into the issue before, because
I never had a reason to refer anyone.
I fell in love with Mene the day I joined,
so it wasn't anything in opposition to here
that I had Roliana in my link.
And I'm not against necessarily the trouble
I got into for it, I'm just not so sure it
was worth something permanent.
It's nothing big though, I'm here and
I don't let it slow me down. It's the first
time I actually got in trouble on a site,
so of course there was some shock.

Youth in Asia... LOL *pats Kalliste sympathetically* I'm still nervous about starting threads. I will sit for several minutes going back and back through threads to make sure I'm not bringing something else up, but even I would've missed that one too.

Good thing we can now change our topic titles. n_n'

I got an infraction earlier about something that happened in april 07, for old tags, which the problem was solved by former community manager Aeris more then year ago, it's a permanent infraction, pretty cool. ;]

Ayx, that was just a re-issue of an old warning to get it into the new system. It's not another warning for the same offence, everyone who had warnings on the old software got them re-issued once we'd switched, and the message that came with it explained what it was all about

I have an infraction for having a referral link in my signature.
I didn't realize advertising would be that big a deal.
I never realised that either... phew, glad I didn't put any referal links in my sig.

I know right :D To me, if the other OP can't spell it right and I can mine should be left open... the threads, although both about euthanasia were about difference aspects of it though and considering the other people really had no idea about it mine was more informative...

... so I should win :D That's my arguement anyway.

I didn't ask why, I know why, it wouldn't be logical if you warned me for something that I didn't know of because the tag rule wasn't completely explained officially in the Menewsha Rules back in April 07'. If I was curious about the situation I would've PM'ed you. Thanks.

Can't we just make it a rule that you can't copy and paste the spoons into your post, quote or no? I never use them, I think everyone understands what I'm talking about...

I am really, really, REALLY irked by the ugly quote boxes cluttering up a post.
