it would help me be one step closer to getting out and away from my dad.
He keeps being very controlling and telling us [my sister and I] How to dress.

Amane!!! <3 I didn't even notice that until you pointed it out, haha <3 did I tell you about that day I witnessed a real life table flipping? I forget to whom I told this story.

Fuu-Chan, how is he telling you two to dress? Is there a dress code based on the religion?

Pretty much.
So today i was determined to thread my machine.
I got most of it threaded thanks to my sister.
Just not the last part. But we'll work on it later.

I refuse to let anyone tell me what to wear and not to wear.
Dresses and skirts make me more confident compared to when I wear jeans.

So now I feel even if he gives me money for clothes, it's not like I can buy
anything I want.

Yay, I love hearing the progress on the sewing machine :D

Sorry to hear about your dress code though :/ does he mean dresses and skirts in general, or only when they are a certain length?

If you're wearing appropriate clothing then I don't see the problem.
Religion or not, it's your choice and your body.

One of my friends was Pentecostal and she wore jean skirts for so long. She finally broke out and started wearing regular clothes because it made her feel good about herself and finally be feminine. She even started wearing actual makeup instead of powder cover-up.

Her church was snooty about it but you know... if you're teaching about God and everyone should accept someone no matter what and then you turn around and damn someone to hell for such silly things - they really shouldn't be running a church in the first place. There's enough two-faced jackals in the world to worry about.

It doesn't mean you're giving up your religion by just changing your appearance.
That's just a bunch of huffle fluff bigotry.

Hehe me too.
Good thing My sister and I will move in together cause i'll need her help threading it more.

Yeah basically length wise.
And currently we have a blizzard going on in our state and
even the red cross had to help out those who
are stuck and can't get home and my dad is saying it's not that bad..

and wants us to go to his religious meeting in this weather.
Um..No. For one I'll be wearing a dress, two I don't have a very thick coat.
and three IT'S A FRICKIN BLIZZARD!!

Trust me none of that actually matters. If I don't dress 'modest' then It's bad.
I dress in skirts and dresses above my knees because I finally feel good about myself. Throughout junior high all I did was cover and hide my body behind jeans and long hoodies that didn't compliment the good figure I had. And now that I see how cute of a body i have and how I can work really cute clothes I get told "You really need longer dresses."

Also long dresses do not look good on me. It's kind of saying my body is an object and I should hide it. Doesn't matter if I've spent most of my life ashamed of my body and hid it for so long. I hid it because of many things.

And I am finally getting rid of my skin condition so i can actually show off my arms again.

I am not even in this religion thing.
I'm an atheist. Obviously he doesn't know that because he'd get my grandmother and lecture me.
Not like they don't lecture me enough. she even told me I should be doing my dad's laundry.
Um..I already cook for him, help him with groceries and do chores around the house.
And he does his own laundry.

I am not his god damn house keeper.

I hate snow.
With a firey passion.

It will forever be my enemy.
Plus people were stuck from 7am-4pm+ due to the blizzard
on the highways, you couldn't see where you were going.

And he acts pissy for missing his religious meeting.
Sorry I rather not die out there by driving in a blizzard

I don't like too much snow. I am okay with a thin layer of snow or having it snow but melt quickly on the ground. I used to love snow as a child, because I loved to play in it. And even now, I don't mind having to trudge through it in my snowboots. But I don't like it for my dad's sake, since his job requires him to spend many hours outside. I didn't realize until recently how hard it made for my poor dad to work, especially when several inches of snow were on the ground. And my dad and I are very alike in that we don't complain about much. So even if I ask my dad not to work that day because of a ton of snow on the ground, he will still go to work with no complaints. Therefore, ideally there would not be that much snow to begin with. And also, my poor parents are getting older, so I don't want them to have to shovel all that snow in the driveway (since I live away from home most of the time now for school). Luckily, the last big snowstorm we had here was over a weekend, so I was able to get home in time to help shovel that.

Fuu-Chan aww I wish your father wouldn't try to force a dress code on you like that. Especially now that you've grown stronger in self-confidence about your body, just to now have other people trying to restrict what you wear. Will you still help them with chores, cooking, and groceries after moving out?

Eh oh well. I probably wont even buy any dresses or skirts this year.

I don't see why I would need to do that if I have my own groceries, cooking and chores to do. Plus by the time I move out, I'll have a job and I'd have work. That would be taking on twice the load any normal person should have. Not to mention I'd have no time for art or sewing.
So to me that is a bit unfair to do his and mine and possibly my sister's chores when I move out.

That makes sense, Fuu-Chan *nods* am I right to assume that your parents are not very elderly? That is, they would be able to take care of things on their own?

Nope. My mother is not in the best condition due she lives in a nursing home and is on oxygen because of her weight
and they wont do physical therapy with her.

Modest? I mean, if you have a chest then clothes aren't exactly going to be modest xD
Especially if you have a booty!

I like skirts/dresses above my knees or to my knees as well. I don't see anything wrong in that, which leaves no argument for him/them to degrade you. If it helps your self-esteem and your well-being then they should support you and stop trying to forbid you wearing modern clothing.

I understand what you went through with school.
I only wore t-shirts, shorts ' n ' things that really didn't show off my body figure because I was self-conscious.

I actually had the school board literally tell me I couldn't wear short skirts because it was inappropriate for me. I wanted to start dressing cute myself and wore a medium-sized black skirt to school one day but since I got a more developed body than the other middle school kids - they said it wasn't right for me. My mom had to go in to meet the school board and told them off because they didn't enforce it on the other girls since their parents funded the school.

eh, long dresses aren't all that pretty anyway unless they're like ball-gowns.
I like short dresses myself and if you have the body to wear'em then wear'em.

Congrats on your skin! I'm happy for you

If they were any kind of family, they'd be happy for your improved confidence in yourself. But it seems they have a old-fashioned view of family? If he can move his legs and arms, he can very well do his own laundry. You're definitely not his maid nor born to be one.

I'm sorry you have to deal with that kind of poop.
