Just a nromal side character who gives the heroes the beginning of a very long a tedious side quest chain that ends with some epic weapon that makes the final boss easier.

One of the main protagonists' friends at the start of the game, before said protagonist sets off on the journey of adventure.

one of the random slightly creepy villains, who shows up way too many times and screws with your group, but isn't really a threat, and turns out to be on your side at the end.

A side character who is always causing mischief and making trouble for you. You never know if he's a good guy or a bad guy throughout the game, even at the end of the game, you're still unsure of his intentions.

That one guy, you know, who is always in the background, pushing things along, leaving clues as to whose the main enemy, and you run across their path, not knowing who(or what) they are, until they show up during the final boss battle and help you kick his ass.

You're the main villain's right hand man. But you aren't evil. You're quite honorable and can sympathize with the heroes, but something keeps you from changing sides to good. In the end, the hero and you have quite the climatic fight. And you guys exchange words of respect before you die. >>;
