i know i'm like are you a brontasaurus? a li'l Geoff the Giraffe munchin on some leafs?

that's so true, you could put sugar on roast beef and it would taste better.

i've never had a persimmon! what does it taste like? i always thought it was savory, but it's a fruit right?

.... did you take the mango out? [eyes emoji]

oh man sounds like me, i always forget anything pushed too far back on the shelf.

yeah just a little swishy swish! sometimes i do a little mouthwash in it so it cleans out the tube too, but you have to have a high mouthwash tolerance to spray it on your teeth.

Food always tends to go bad in my house because I can't force my brain to get up and do the steps it takes to make the food. ;-;

@ Ghosty: Aw, that’s a really cute image though and it’s great he’s eating really nutritious food! I envy him!

Ooh roast beef… [drools]

Ooh wow! I actually had my first persimmon last year. It tastes like…mango meets apple maybe? It’s a fruit but with the texture of tomato. It’s definitely worth giving it a shot though!

I did finally take the mango out. I just wanted a little bit but the whole bag had frozen together and no amount of smashing it against the counter would break off a hunk so I guess I’ll be eating mango the next few days, lol! You’ll be happy to know that I’m also in the process of cooking the pesto bake!

Oh wow I never thought of putting mouthwash in it but there’s an idea! I bet it would be very refreshing!

*returns your high five* woohoo! It also doesn't help that I have texture issues with a lot of food (meat in particular) that makes me an unwillingly picky eater.

Yeaaah!!! *does a little wiggle dance* I'm with you there on the texture thing. I hate that meat is not uniform and there are fatty bits and grisly bits or bony bits or whatever. I do like meat but whenever I get a bite like that I get all squirmy ick feelings inside.

oh yep, that's me, lol. I can't eat steak, no pork at all, no chicken that came on a bone... Boneless chicken and hamburgers/ground beef are really all the meat I can eat. I start gagging if I get a bad texture in my mouth. :(

I'm allergic to seafood, so I can't even have that as a substitute!

I'll do steak and pork but I'm pretty careful about carving off any undesirable bits. Chicken on the bone is a no for sure. Once and a while even a hamburger can get me if I find a tiny bone chip in it. I actually started getting a vitamin B-12 deficiency a few years ago because I stopped eating a lot of meat.

Steak has to be done *just* right for me to be able to eat it. Pork is way too chewy in any form (at least that I've had) that sets me off in a bad way.

Chicken on the bone is kind of a silly one. I find it too easy to have like, bone shards stuck in the meat, but it mostly stems from my irrational fear of swallowing chicken bones. No idea where that came from!

Oof, yeah, that's not great. I take B-12 myself because I don't intake a lot of meat. Vitamin buddies!

I feel this so so hard. My mom gets on my case for being wasteful because I end up chopping off more questionable looking bits of meat then I actually eat. I wont eat ground beef at all, it has a weird texture. I mostly eat chicken, but it has to be boneless with no fatty bits or gristle.

@ Eli: That’s true as well, getting the meat done right can be tricky and I’m not a huge fan of porkchop because it tends to be very dry and tough I feel no matter how you cook it. Even chicken can have a weird tough texture sometimes that makes me just spit the food out and give up.

Yay vitamins! I honestly wonder how I might have survived back in the day lol.

@ Cora: I also have a tough time with not wasting things because that was how I grew up. I will literally use soap the very last drop and then still rinse out the bottle for one more use. I know it’s not exactly the same as food but yeah, family habits die hard!

And then when you want to put things away it’s the same thing, you don’t have to open the doors and can just slip it in. That would personally drive me crazy though because I need minimized clutter. Seeing too many things around really stresses me out so I’d rather have it neatly tucked away and looking nice.

You’ll have to let me know how you like it! Apparently there are a bunch of those “gamification” kind of apps these days. I was looking at productivity ones last night and they have ones that help you focus by making it so that if you close that app, your plant/avocado/cat/whatever dies.
Ha! Well there you go, I guess that's why it's all the rage. I could probably do like open shelving but all my dishes would have to match (and be white LOL). That could take care of the clutter and the doors! Oh my gosh I'd be so sad if something died...I'd have to quit my job and never close the app LOL I'd be addicted like them good ol' Tamagotchi back in the day!

well, my partner's mother is immunocompromised, so we've just been being extra careful to not get sick because we need to be able to visit her a lot, so we didn't want to go anywhere we'd have to have our masks off and someone less than 6ft away from us, so the dentist was a bigger risk, at least in 2020.

and then in 2021, we were just struggling to find a good practice we could trust nearby us, and last year my partner just randomly met our dentist in line at the post office, and he's a really sweet, funny guy. he's honestly probably my favorite dentist i've had, even if his chairs are particularly uncomfortable and he's really good at what he does-- he even has a clipping on the wall from when he was in the paper for being on the cutting edge of dental practices, it's so cute. you can just tell he cares about what he does. so i'm less scared going to see him.
Question: Do you grow all herbs even if you don't use them, or just the ones you use? I used to take so much joy in growing all the herbs and then one summer I thought "I don't even like eating these herbs" LOL So now I only grow chives, dill and cilantro because I'm obsessed. And when I get too much, I dry them out for my winter storage! Ohhhh Giant mason jar sounds fun, albeit noisy with all the glass clinking LOL

OHHHH Okay that is more understandable, I just assumed dentistry took a pause and I was so sad for you! But a conscious decision for the health and well being of someone else is selfless. Loving your dentist definitely makes the visit more enjoyable! And I'm glad that means you aren't as scared to go there now! I've had mine since I was a kid, but he's just retired, so I was just moved to a new lad who immigrated here from the Middle East and he was SUPER kind. My niece had to have a cavity filled and he was so gentle and explained everything he was doing. I am very pleased with the switch.

Yep, I'm the same way. Have a complex about wasting food *and* I have an aversion to eating leftovers, so I try to force myself to eat, which doesn't end up well for anyone, lol. Life is hard.

just the ones we use, but i can definitely see the appeal of planting ones you don't use, they're so pretty. we keep trying to dry them out, but it's so humid here we haven't found a method that works, so we only ever get a little handful. especially since the ones we like have itty bitty little leaves (like pizza thyme, lemon thyme, oregano) so a big clump of plant only gives like 1 tbsp of spice

i'm glad you found someone you like! he sounds really pleasant. i'm glad it was an easy switch, it must be weird not seeing someone you've seen since you were little, so a smooth transition helps.

Hmmm do you have a dehydrator? Some ovens even have that as a function on it! Could totally do it that way! But yeah you definitely don't get as much LOL

LOL Maraca!

Definitely strange, but I like modern and up to date with new technology and what not, so I'm glad the new dentist is young haha!

oh that's a good idea! our oven doesn't have that setting, but i'm sure we could find a little herb dehydrator somewhere online.

definitely, up to date is good

Yes! I mean it CAN be done on any oven, but without the setting I think you're wasting a lot of energy lol.

I'm the same way with soap and the like. I'll be in the shower trying to use this tiny little sliver of my bar of soap because I refuse to waste any

I'm not as adverse to leftovers. I had surgery on my stomach a number of years ago now so my stomach is only a fraction of other peoples. So I can't eat much. I end up eating one meal 2 or 3 times.

I have such a hard time getting up in the morning when it's dark outside... That's like the worst part of my day. Thankfully, my job is pretty easygoing so I'm usually always up for going to work. XD I even just get to sit and read at work. :D

Good luck at work you two!

I sleep with blackout curtains so it's always dark when I wake up.

Thank you Kent! I'm neck deep in email analytics at the moment... Sadly our system is not able to generate reports for what I need so I'm having to check everything manually between two tabs and fill it in on an Excel sheet.

I've lived with a street lamp across my window for a long time at my parent's home and now I live right next door to a brightly lit police station parking lot. XD I guess I'm used to it now. I even leave my blinds up cuz my cat destroys them if they're not...

Well, rest your eyes when you need to. X3
