Striker for its very conventional modern mecha game design (and boob missiles!), Typhoon for its unique three-armed design (I read it was initially meant to have 4 arms instead but they settled with three), Cherno Alpha for the sheer Russian of it all (Cherno has no escape pods, so it was "Win or Die" for the pilots), and I don't even have to explain Gipsy (chain sword!) Though if Tacit Ronin had more screen time, that might have actually been my favourite Jaeger out of all of them.

Good that you picked up on the Power Rangers and Godzilla feel! The movie paid homage to shows like Mazinger Z (Go Getter Robot in English translations) and the whole kaiju franchise (which includes King Kong, Godzilla, Gamera and many other creations Japan had over the years), so you're totally feeling it right. I totally loved the EMP scene when it happened. The only one better than that was when Otachi spread her wings and started smashing Gipsy on the ground. That was a WOAH moment for me.

The soundtrack has 25 tracks, yes. They blend very well together and whenever The Shatterdome plays, I have an extra voice going, "...for six years. Six years...," in my head.

About the Crimson Typhoon thing, I noticed the flipped Chinese letters too but I didn't think too much about it. Tendo and the other people in the LOCCENT referred to that Jaeger as Typhoon so I chalked it up to misinterpretation when they were logging in information for the Jaeger.

"Typhoon Crimson? That doesn't make sense! Are you sure they didn't mean to write Crimson Typhoon instead? That's so much cooler."
*co-worker shrugs*
"Crimson Typhoon it is!"

And then the Wei Tang brothers and the other Chinese team members made a whole ruckus out of it so everyone calls Typhoon Typhoon instead of Crimson (all the other Jaegers were called by their first names).

Pacific Rim's story is rather straightforward and they build the world for you right out in the first 10 minutes so it shouldn't be very difficult to understand. Bumblebee is almost everyone's favourite. How does one not like Bumblebee?
Don't remind me about the Wolverine. *shudders*

Pacific Rim is a Del Toro original series, made solely for the movie. :)
...I feel bad for forgetting but I can't remember seeing Tacit Ronin in the movie at all. According to the Wiki it says it appeared in a cameo?

Hahaha Cherno Alpha for the sheer Russian I liked the pilots's looks, they stood out amongst the other pilots. I wish the other Jaegers had more screen time before they got pwned by the Kaijus.

I think the Wiki page for Pacific Rim mentioned that the producer hoped to get the younger generation interested mechs and stuff? I like how Japan has all these giant monsters destroying stuff and giant robots battling them. Was at a department store earlier today and at some of the shops I saw a bunch of monster models from Japanese kaiju series. If the Kaijus from Pacific Rim were any more colorful then they'd fit right in with them.

Oh yeah, Otachi's my favorite Kaiju. The part where Otachi suddenly spread its wings and took off with Gipsy Danger was so cool!

lol! I like it better with your explanation on the Crimson Typhoon name thing.

Haven't seen Wolverine yet but from what I've heard it sucks?

@xuvrette:

@Antagonist:
Tacit showed for about one or two seconds in the montage of the first 10 minutes. xD

I honestly really like its design, though.

The Kaidonoskys definitely had the aura of, "Don't mess with us unless you want to experience sheer pain."
Yeah, tell me about it. You had a long speech of Marshall Pentencost waxing poetics about Cherno and Typhoon only to have them destroyed after about 7 minutes of battle time. D:

Although when Typhoon started to attack, I could almost see the characters for Thundercloud Formation slapping on the screen like a shounen series attack. xD

I thought then kaiju in Pacific Rim were rather colourful in their own right, only because of the colour and lighting consistency in the movie that they felt more muted.

Del Toro definitely intended to peak the younger generation's interest, but he also wanted to give his own generation the feeling of being a kid again while watching the movie (which I did).

Well, I've not watched the current Wolverine movie. But yeah, Wolverine: The Origins, best not to touch. >_>;

Pfffft I accidentally posted before I finished my post. Now it's done!

The designs for the mecha machines in Pacific Rim were quite well done, I thought. If I have to compare, I'd say they reminded me a bit of Armored Core's.

After reading the first page, I am still not entirely sure of the criteria for listing and joining as an artist in this group...

What is so wrong with nakids anyway?
Look at Da Vinci! Botticelli! Michelangelo!'s statue. They are all so proud of their nakedness.
Lately had been reading Dan Brown. XD

But times have changed, I believe even in some period after Da Vinci and all those guys there were attempts to cover up the private parts of said statues with an additional leaf, hopefully they didn't do the same thing with paintings...

I draw, but usually with traditional methods, like hand sketching, which I usually scan and upload to deviantart.

... According to what I read in Dan Brown... the leaf part is covered up because there was once a pope went mad and chopped down all the statue balls in the vatican city, leaves were added later.

I like to read Dan Brown because it brings me to go search all those old art.

I like that he did reference real things to make it interesting enough for me to look up for it.
And I would say... most of the time, it is interesting real facts.
And also his perspective of looking at certain art, which is pretty amusing, fun.

Did you read Da Vinci Code? I think forget where he mention that chop statue story.

Ahh.

Yeah, the design certainly does look great. All of the Jaegers should have more screen time! And the Kaijus too, for that matter...I definitely wouldn't mind if we get a few extra scenes after the credits and just watch the giant mechs and Kaijus have an all-out battle for maybe twenty minutes.

The Kaiju were colored, yeah, but compared to the figurines I saw they could be black and white. The monster figurines were like Skittles - all rainbow-y and brightly colored like some tropical poisonous frog.

...I'll go read up the Wiki entry later just to see how bad it sucks.

^ Quoted separately for all the heck yes!'s I give to this. I remember I used to be such a Power Rangers fan...or as much as a fan a little kid at age 4 - 5 could be. I can't remember the exact ages I had been when I was watching it religiously every day back then.

After Da Vinci... he has Lost Symbols and the newest one Inferno.
Both of them also have arts. I just like to check out little tit bits and juicy stories of those history.
History in textbook bores me.

I don't believe I've ever found a novel funny, no matter how funny it is supposed to be...the only times I've laughed at a novel I'm reading is because of how ridiculous I think the plot is.

I have only read Enid Blyton the most, then some tiny bits here and there...
but it never seem to occur to me I come across ANY English novels that makes me laugh every chapter.

I had been re-reading a certain Chinese novel, and gosh it keeps me laughing all the way.

English must be a hard language to effective express humour with without visuals for context....or I must be reading the wrong books. I hear the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy is a funny book, I started reading it a long time but I got bored and it was one of the few I stopped and never picked up again.

Is it hard?
I am not sure, I just keep being open mind thinking I haven't gone through every English book, hoping there is such English stories for me to read and reference on my humour writing style.
