Just a blink. A surge thingy. A few seconds longer than that.
There's this horrible thing in the kitchen—we believe it's an alarm, but no one remembers—that makes a screechy noise when the lights go out or come back on. Thing's older than me, yet it still has the strength to sound through the whole house, scare me, and ruin my day. That's part of the reason I don't like storms, and part of why paranoia eats me alive at night. I've been through some MESS. It was drawn-out this time, like the lights weren't totally off. Not cool.
