It depends really but I really like a story that really captures my attention. A story that's written in a way that wouldn't want to make me stop reading it.
For example, I'm currently reading the City of Bones, I don't really like how the story is written but somehow the world in the story grabs my attention, so that is reason enough for me to continue on reading.

Hmm, alright, a unique and captivating setting/world... With regards to a plot, Tina?

I prefer a plot that is not slow-paced. A fast-paced plot can also not be good. It really depends on how the story is written. The Kill Order (prequel to The Maze Runner) left me breathless and I felt a bit drained after I finished the book. It was good, I felt like I was also running out of time. My sister didn't really like it though. It really depends on the reader's preference. Some readers prefer a slow-paced plot that doesn't have a lot of twists in it while others prefer the opposite.

Hmm, lot's to think about. I'm finally working on my story, see, and I'm trying to get in the final plot details. A few characters are fleshed out and I think I know how I'm going to go about writing it. Just those tricky plot points

I've been writing a story for a long time now, that's spun other stories off of it, but has never really been clearly and thoroughly roughed out.

It's the sort of thing I write for my own enjoyment (a rare thing these days), but I've been told it's a decent story, and my characters are becoming more real each time I rewrite it, but it's the rewriting of it that's got me hung up.

It's like taking my best story and trying to give it a final form, when all the time it's trying to grow and change into something better and can't stay put! it's gratifying and annoying at the same time...

I think it's part of why I started posting it on here, so at least it's out in view, and I'll have to do something about it.

I liked City of Bones I have only read the first 2 books of that series though I like fast paced plots. Slow paced ones just make me sleepy, so I save them for the time I'm getting to bed

I've not read any of them, though I see people mentioning them here and there...

I suppose I should include them in my to-read list.

*tries to read at least 3 to 6 books a week*

I'm not reading anything anymore I haven't been to the library in months. I'm thinking of reading book 2 of the lying game, though. I liked the first book

The more you read, the better off you are, it doesn't matter what it is.

And that reminds me, I haven't read The Lying Game either...

I feel like the world is running past me, too many books and not enough time!

@Lexadis - I asked my sister about the Mortal Instruments series earlier. She said she liked the first two books but the third book lost her attention and she didn't continue on.

I used to read a lot, too. Back in high school and uni. I read books and learned other things instead of reading and studying what I'm supposed to be learning academically. xD

Yeah, life gives you far more life experience than books.

When life gets in the way of reading, let it.

But-

When life hands you a good book and nothing else is demanding your time, read the s**t out of it!

I don't know, I've seen most of the girls in my class read and exchange books, though they aren't the type of books I want to read. It's amazing how they manage their time and all. I simply don't manage my time at all

It's because they don't know Menewsha, that would be my guess. What type of books do they read, anyway?

Teehee That's what my friends say too "You say you don't study and you say you don't have time. You use it all for chatting, so when will you ever have time?" Me:
Hmm little books, really Enid Blyton, Mary Kate and Ashley, Nancy Drew and I saw Twilight being passed around too I've read those all before, so not interested xD

Tell them, "You all are just jealous of me and my Menewsha world." xD

I read one Nancy Drew, since it's a bit hard buying the series here, and I liked it. More than ten years ago, my sister and I almost completed all the books of the Animorphs, we're only missing, more or less, 10 books from the whole series of the Animorphs. We read it like a really thirsty man would drink water.

Oh, good old Nancy Drew mysteries, that takes me back! I mean, the Hardy Boys were cute and all, but Nancy was where it was at...

Oh, I borrowed old books from everyone who had them, and you couldn't get me out of the library some days. I always liked older books, because they weren't spun the same way, you know?

Like, if something in it was BS it would be obvious today, but back then they all thought it was cutting edge fact, just like today's serious works will be laughed at by children fifty years from now.

I hope the children fifty years from now won't laugh at the Harry Potter books.
