I think they're interesting, but I can't say I really like or hate them. To tell you the truth, I haven't thought much on the matter >.< It's kind of amazing the massive amount of things that are out there that I've yet to even consider...XD
I'm fine, considering I'm almost done with the week!! XD And you?

Ahh really lol.... I guess that is because I love cute things and there is usually something cute in there XD Plus the storylines I am familiar with and have felt a connection with : P which you could just as easily get from a normal book LOLS

Haha that is true, but as long as you enjoy it that's all that matters ^^
Oh, random story, but yesterday four tornados touched down not far from my school. I was on my balcony watching the storm...stupid, I know, but I heard there was a tornado warning and I got that mixed up with watch. It was still kind of cool watching the clouds swirl like that, but it sucks that there was so much damage >.< I'm just glad it didn't come too close to me...

Wow, well I'm glad you're okay. And it's good that with it not being too close to you, you were able to enjoy it, but lol. If it had been then well, right now I'd be scolding you for not being safe. Not like you really knew either way o.o ... but yeah, interesting.

Yeah, it's kind of weird to say that I enjoyed the storm, especially considering the hazard of a tornado, but there is something awe-inspiring about it. Haha, yeah it was a stupid move on my part, I'll admit. I think part of my mind is still stuck in the "I'm young and invincible!!! Muahaha!!" mode...lol

(th e last part is supposed to be I don't have to use the air conditioner. I thought this was the grammar point to use, but yeah...)

Ugh.

I don't get the difference between は and を. When do you use which one?!

I'll try to explain it as best I can.
は marks the subject of the sentence - watashi は Kuro desu (I am Kuro). It pretty much just shows what the main subject of the sentence is
を marks the direct object. watashi は ringo を tabemasu (I eat the apple). You put the を after the direct object (ringo) since it is the thing being affected by the verb (eat).

This was how it was explained to me, anyways. I hope this helps rather than confuses ^^

(argh - I mean to ask, Don't you only use "おげきですか" after someone's been sick?

I think I've seen a reference to that, one boor or another, maybe my Pimsleur audio lessons insisting that the proper way to ask 'how are you doing?' as いかがですか。

I'm playing with the possible suggested kanji, and I think this is the correct one for that question...

But I see 元気 used all the time, so it can't be that much of a social faux pas. More like, 'are you feeling well/energetic' than the more generic question intended, I think.

Hm, that's interesting. Let me look up what my book said, and try to remember my classes...

----------

Found it in my An Integrated Approach to Intermediate Japanese book!
Quote:
In short: You only use "いかがですか" when people are sick, and "お元気ですか" when you haven't seen the person in a long time.

I thought it was just a polite way to ask how someone was. We generally use 「元気ですか」in class, and 「おかげさまで元気です」when we're talking to someone like the teacher or whatnot. Shrug.

Huh, that's odd. Maybe my book is behind the times. But that's what my teacher told us, too, and she's Japanese, goes back every year.

My teacher's Japanese as well, though I don't know how much she goes back. I thought おひさしぶりです was what you said when you haven't seen someone??
Wait, sorry, that's long time no see, oops!! lol

Yes, you say "ひさすぶり” in various incarnations (「ひさしぶり」とか、「ごぶたさしぶり」とか) when you haven't seen someone in a while. I guess choosing ひさしぶり vs. お元気 is a matter of situation and preference. I think I've heard them combined, in a "Long time no see! How have you been?" sort of way: 「ひさしぶり!元気?」

I've never heard of ごぶたしゃしぶり before. I'm assuming it's a really polite way to do it?

:0 huhh i've never heard that one either. interesting..
and yeah, my Japanese teacher taught us to say that every single day since day one in Japanese class, as a greeting. I mean, "ogenki desu ka"... as a greeting. That commonly it is like this:

こんにちは!
こんにちは!
いい天気ですね。
そうですね。 or そうですか。 (depending on if they agree)
(their response here)
...
Conversation can actually start now XD unless they want to ask about family or something Lols
