"Where's the fun in that?" Dean said with a grin, even though he knew all about trying to keep their heads down. "I'm Dean, by the way. This is my brother Sam."

Kyra had to bite back the retort that they already knew that, wasn't it obvious? Instead she just nodded to them, a little reluctant to give her name.

Runa nodded.

"The Winchesters, we've heard of you," she said. "I'm Runa. My friend is Kyra."

Sam blinked and glanced at Dean, although he wasn't too surprised. He and his brother were kind of infamous by now, at least in the hunters' circles. He wasn't even going to think about how infamous they were to heaven and hell.

"Well, nice to know people still blame us for stuff." Dean made a face.

"Actually we knew about you before the whole almost-Apocalypse," Kyra said with a shrug. "You've made names for yourself."

"But people do still blame you for stuff, don't get us wrong," Runa added, smirking just slightly. "We just heard about you guys before that. Most hunters know your names."

A few months later, the Winchesters were back in town. They'd kept in contact with the girls, mostly just hunting advice (going both ways), but they hadn't been back to town for a while. Since they were on their way through to another town anyway, they decided to stop for the night, get some food, and spend some time out of the car before they tried to kill each other.

Runa knew the Winchesters were back in town almost as soon as they arrived. It was hard to miss the classic black Chevy in a town full of sensible Toyotas and Fords. She caught up with them at the diner, walking right in after a wave to the waitresses.

"Welcome back," she said to them. "What brings you back to our little piece of nowhere?"

"Just heading through," Dean said with a little shrug. "Decided to stop for the night and take a break." Because even they got sick of driving sometimes. Only sometimes.

"Fun stuff," Runa replied. "Well, all's been quiet, so maybe you can catch a bit of a break this time."

Sam snorted a bit.

"We try not to test our luck that way," he said.

"Yea really." Dean grumbled for a moment. "So, any recommendations here?" He gestured to the menu. He knew he was probably going to get a bacon cheeseburger anyway, but still. Never hurt to ask. "And where's your partner in crime?"

"Kyra's making a run to the library, returning some books," Runa said. "I saw your car and came to say hi." She leaned over and glanced at the menu. "The grilled cheese and tomato soup is always good here. Or the baked mac and cheese. Good comfort foods."

"Sounds good." Mac and cheese wasn't bad, anyway. Dean set his menu down. "So, things have been quiet around here?" They hadn't called for help, anyway, so he assumed things had been quiet.

"Pretty much," Runa replied, pulling a chair over. "Nothing we couldn't handle." Of course, she was understating that a little; there had been that one demonic possession the week before, but she hadn't lied when she said they'd handled it.

Dean nodded and grimaced when his phone started ringing. "Hang on a sec." He blinked at the caller ID before he answered. "Cas. What's up?"

Runa blinked and flinched just slightly when she realized who 'Cas' must be. It wasn't exactly a common nickname.

"Cas?" Sam looked at his brother, interested. "Wonder what's going on."

Dean held up a finger, listening to Cas for a moment. "Yeah," he said slowly. "We're on a hunt. Why?" He listened again before he shrugged. "Okay, well we can be there in a day or so if we leave in the morning." He huffed when Cas demanded where he was, giving him the answer. "Go wait at the hotel or something," he said before hanging up on the angel.

"Said there's a hunt a few towns over," Dean said with a shrug. "Heaven stuff, apparently. He's supposed to give us details when we get back to the room."

"Fun," Sam said dryly.

Runa went a bit pale. Heaven issues so close to her town? That was worrisome.

"Well, what were you hunting in this town?" she asked. "Maybe Kyra and I can take care of it for you so you can get to the other hunt. Sounds like it might be important."

"Should just be a couple vamps," Dean said after a moment. "We can still take care of it, if you haven't dealt with vamps." But there was only evidence of a small nest, maybe four or five. Two people should be able to handle that well enough.

"We've dealt with one or two in the past," Runa said. "Not a nest, though." She grinned a bit. "I thought you were going to say it was demons or something and that we must have completely missed some omens."

Dean snorted. "No, no demonic omens in this area yet," he said with a brief grin. "Although if that does happen I'll be sure to remember this."

Runa snorted.

"We've taken care of demons before," she said, grinning. "They're not too hard to deal with, once you catch them." She was acutely aware of just what she was saying, and she was careful not to let anything slip. "Anyways, any idea where these vamps are? May as well take them out quick."

"We're not sure," Sam said. "We were going to check out some of the empty barns around here tomorrow."

Dean shrugged. "We've got a few possible locations but nothing definite," he said. "Besides, if we give you everything it's just too easy."

Runa rolled her eyes.

"Thanks," she said sarcastically. She grinned a bit. "Either way, that call sounded important."

"Not important enough for me to skip out on dinner," Dean responded immediately. Because he was hungry, damn it.

Kyra paused when she noticed Runa sitting with the Winchesters and went to go investigate.
