Sleeping surprisingly peacefully, Levin was a tad annoyed when his phone rang early that morning. It was the station. He was to report as there was a huge issue on the west side of the city.

Without waking Chanelle, the male placed a kiss on the base of her neck and retreated before she would awaken for school. While driving there in his new car, his mind became clouded with images of the female back at his home. She was so sweet, but this whole affair was just wrong. It couldn't be real. If rumor got out that a man of his reputation was dating a high schooler... well, it just wouldn't look right.

Eyes closing for a split second, he made up his mind. The affection was to die. He would find himself a date for tonight and bring her home. To his luck, the new officer on the police team was a female, and a hot one at that. Parking his SUV and strolling out with his usual swagger, the female immediately blushed. Being his typical cocky self, he did his best to refute the idea that she too was attractive.

"So what have we... holy shit." His eyes met the female officer's. Yeah...." she said in a muffled sad tone. "They died in each other's arms... it's so sad." Stepping back, she let Levin give her a hug. Smiling, she slipped her number into his pocket. Winking, she walked off to her car. "Call me," she said with a wrinkling nose.

Turning back to the crime scene, Levin fingered the little piece of paper in his pocket. Tonight he would call her. He hated the thought of breaking Chanelle's heart, but he really needed a woman his age. Mind made up, he began the long, tedious process of investigating and attempting to discover what really happened to the lovers.

Chanelle spent the day at the spa, and they got massages and a royal family's treatment before going to a room, watching Mitch get a bikini wax, laughing their head off every time they heard a"HOLY SHIT THAT HURTS!" or "HOLY MOTHER OF THE F**** LORD!"

By the time they left, Mitch could barely walk and they could barely breathe.

Getting into a car they drove to a pool party, hanging out with friends, having a good time when a loud bang echoed around them and guys in all black, masks over their faces came in and, on impulse, she ran into a hedge maze with her friend and began to freak out, calling Levin. "Lev, I need..." her phone fell to the ground as she was pulled up by a man in black. "HELP ME!" she screamed, her voice carrying into the phone before the guy hit her with a gun and knocked her out.

At first, when his phone rang, Levin thought about not answering. But the odds of Chanelle calling were slim. So, pushing the woman he was making out with off him, he rolled over and picked up his cell phone. "Hey, what's u... Chanelle? Chanelle? Chanelle!" Phone falling from his hands, Levin looked at the nearly naked female on his bed. Biting his lip, he reached for his pants and quickly pulled them on. Reaching for his button up, he flew out of his house without even attempting to close up the shirt. Black tie hanging unprofessionally around his neck, he completely ignored his "sex look" and started at the GPS tracking signal he has secretly activated in the female's phone.

Even though Levin wasn't one to speed, he didn't hesitate to press the pedal to the floor. So what if it was reckless, Chanelle was potentially in danger and he would not have her die on his watch.

Arriving at the party house, Levin bent over to see that some of the kids were still laying unconscious. Awakening some of them, he shook the answer out of one of the boys. "Where the hell is she!" "Dude. She's been... taken." "Taken! By who? What did they look like?" "Black masks man, black masks." "Yeah, some help you are." Dropping the guy, Levin bolted over to Chanelle's phone. Cupping it in his hands, he felt a lump form in the back of his throat. Eyes glazing over with water, he fought to suppress the tears. Stay strong Levin, stay strong.

Chanelle's phone lay on the ground near the pool, and a few drops of blood were on it, whilst she was strapped to a chair, no, maybe a table...? she thought and looked around, than a light came on above her, and she saw plastic everywhere, on the floors, hanging on the walls, she saw saws and other tools on a silver tray near her head, and other than that, the room was completely empty.

She groaned, realizing the harsh pouding in her head and hoping the GPS chin she had implanted when she was six still worked and waited for someone to come in and pick up a saw, so that her head would finally stop hurting.

Taking to the kids from the party, Levin was about to cross out some suspects. Odds were they targeted Chanelle because they wanted to hurt him. He also ruled out some other important things such as color, height, and features. So they weren't black or tan-skinned. They were white males that ranged in height. A couple were buff but there was also a shorter more hefty guy that definitely ate his fair at his Grandma's Thanksgiving. He was one of those guys that probably loved to devour the stuffing.

The trace amounts of blood on the phone were most likely from Chanelle, but he knew waiting for the tox-results would be too late. He was going to have to go on pure gut instincts. Looking up at his team, he saw that they were a little hysterical about the whole thing. Shaking off the feeling of vomiting, he went back to looking for clues. Chanelle knew better. She knew she had to leave him a trial. Sure enough, he found it. "Get the dogs." Pointing to a small trial of blood that was here and there, he smiled on the inside. Good job. That's my girl. Cutting yourself to smear your blood. Or at least I hope they were. If not... Levin, let's not go down that road. Chanelle will be fine.

"Fuck. I should have went with her today." Tugging at his short dark blonde hair, he bite his lips and another few more F-bombs rolled off his tongue.

"Levin, baby, you had no idea. Not your fault. Not like you're her boyfriend." Lexxi walked over and put a hand on him. "If this is what fate wants, then maybe it's best to let fate runs its course."

"Let her go? Are you stupid? No! Hell no. I was supposed to go with Chanelle and her friends today. But I blew it off as I didn't want to rush into things." Looking away, his peers took a step closer and cocked their brows.

"Care to explain what you mean?" Shrugging Lexxi stepped back to hear out the male. "I mean, rushing things? You're her new father. You kinda have to. And trust me. Most girls don't want daddy playing with them."

"Heh, if only it were that simple." Turning to look them in the eye, Levin smirked. "It's ironic, but the only reason I was with you tonight was so I could tell Chanelle we were over."

"... what?"

"I fucking love the girl. She's intelligent. Funny. Charming. Gorgeous. Only reason I said no to her today was because I was more worried about my reputation than her heart. Hell, I was willing to cut my own and sell my soul to the devil. I was going to pull out all the stunts to hurt the kid so she wouldn't fall in love with me. Failed at that. Instead, I got the title "Asshole." I cannot believe I blew her off for you. You don't even want her. I didn't have a choice but I took her in with open arms and I'm sure as hell glad I did. She's the best accident that ever happened to me. Without her... I'd be such living the same life I've always lived. I'd just be another toy for some girl. I want something real. She is real. She's what I've longed for but haven't found. I'm not about to let fate steal her from me. She's mine. I'll die trying to get her back."

Closing his eyes, he exhaled. "I'm sorry, but I have to find her. Are you in? Or shall I work solo?" When he opened his eyes, he saw his two partners giving him the A-Okay. "That's guys." Turning, he looked at Lexxi. "You and I. It's not happening. I'm taken." Running off, Levin chased after the dogs that just arrived at the house. Please make it, Chanelle. I can't live without you.

After a few minutes a guy did walk in, looking at her through a mask and he picked up a knife and looked at her, she could easily see and evil glint in his eyes through the mask.

She forced herself to keep calm, hiding her fear from him. She wouldn't give him any satisfaction.Besaides, Levin would come for her, wouldn't he?

She began to second guess herself. Levin never wantedf her around to begin with, he always hated having her around at first, and it was hard to believe he'd come for her after all the crap she made him put up with.

She watched the guy take a sharp looking silver knife and put it to her skin. in fact, it was sharp enough that she couldn't feel it when he cut her cheek bone, enough to leave a scar there, thought she didn't flinch, in fact, she had done a sick trick she always did andc rolled back her eyes, making it look like she was already dead.

Crazed eyes focused on a looming gray door. It seemed to be the one thing that would ruin everything. Blood stained hands and wound in the gut, Levin wasn't about to let these thugs get the best of him. Going solo wasn't his best idea, but he needed to do this. He had to prove to himself, to her, that he would be worthy of her. For all that he was trying to do, this act of heroism didn't feel like heroism to Levin though. To him, it was just a futile attempt to repent for his sinning - by almost having it with Lexxi.

Vision become a blur, he reached for the little pistol that he had tucked away. When his hands missed it, Levin swore he could see the light. His face, which was now one with the floor, throbbed and boomed with an wicked pain. Blood. It was everywhere. Now pouring from his head, he could feel a small incision widen, which only made the blood pool larger.

Is this the end? Blindness overcame him. His hearing perked up and his nose became his eyes. The foul stench of the leader came within striking distance. Much like a rattlesnake, Levin coiled back and the lunged at the male with a full force. Toppling the masked man into the concret wall, Levin knew that was the last he'd have to deal with the man.

Eyes shooting open, the flooding light caused him to cringe. But, rather than letting his golden-green eyes adjust, Levin seized the moment and a loud echoing BANG followed.

Clank. Clank. Clank.

Three bullets ejected from the pistol that he'd been praying to use. Now surrounded by bodies, Levin inched his way toward the door. An access card was needed to breech the system. Using his teeth, he dug into a man's pocket and, using the wall as a brace, he slid the card through the slot.

DING!

The sound of a locking mechanism opening followed. Indeed music to his ears. However, just as the door opened, Levin's exhausted body gave in. Dropping down, his cheek smeared blood across the white floor. Chanelle was there before him on the table. But he hadn't the strength to move. The bullet that had penetrated his gut was causing much internal bleeding. The large gouge on his forehead wasn't helping either.

A tiny trickle of blood came. It was salty, but surprisingly sweet. Within seconds, everything went silent. Darkness engulfed him. Levin's muscles loosened as he sunk into an unconscious state.

I did it. Chanelle... is... safe....

Chanelle heard commotion outside and her worries about Levin not coming vanished, until she saw him come in how he was and she actually panicked then, seeing the blood, than watching him drop to the floor and she struggled against the bonds and began to scream. "LEVIN!"

Cursing, she did something she swore to her mother she'd never to and she used amazing strength to break apart to metal table and she ripped off the cuffs and grabbed a knife, the guy who had cut her cheek now got a good slice on his arm, than his gut, than throat.

She watched while her captor, the gurgling bloody mess, fall to the floor before running over to levin and turning him over, looking at the wounds and took a deep breath, using his phone to call for back up, and medical attention and told them they needed it immediately.

She rubbed her sore, bruised wrists as she waited for the people to come, meenwhile she tried her hardest to stop the flow of blood.

All Levin could recall was Chanelle alone and suffering. But when his eyes opened, he saw himself in his bed. Perhaps it was a dream? Turning his head, he saw that his body was wrapped with white bandages and that there were flowers and "Get Well Soon" cards on the side of his bed.

Turning his eyes away from the items that reminded him of a nightmare he longed to forget, Levin let the tears flow. It was painful to know that he was trying to hurt Chanelle by ripping out her heart. It was almost as if his wish was to come true, but Levin had to interfere and had to save her. It was going to be hell to share with her the news of what he wanted to do, but, deep down, he knew he had to tell her. He had to tell her he was going to leave her for Lexxi, but then realized he couldn't.

Chanelle just walked in and saw him, sighing in relief and smiling at him she went over and sat down, kissing his cheek softly. "Finally awake?" she asked and ran her fingers through her hair, looking at him she saw something odd, there was a negitive air in the room, but for the moment she just ignored it, shrugging it off and looking at all the flowers.

She picked up a card and looked at it. "Everyone was worried about you... You know.." she told him and smiled slightly. "Even me." she told him and put the card back into the flowers than sat down, playing with a strand of her hair and thinking over a few things, weather or not she should scold him for not coming without back up, or what. Even though she was grateful he saved her and all, she just wished he would have come with more help so he wouldn't be hurt.

Pushing that aside she decided to just let him have a little peace for a while. "How are you feeling?" she asked, stroking his cheek.

"I'm feeling better. I guess. I just... I feel like I've been hit by a truck or something. God. What the hell happened to me?" Levin's pale eyes flickered open as he looked over at his Chanelle. Closing his eyes, the memories of the day before flooded his thoughts. The corners of his eyes became moist with tears. "Thank god you're safe. I was so worried." His shaking hand moved toward her face. Stroking her cheek gently, he smiled. "And to think, I was going to leave you...."

Eyes closing, he began to fall back to sleep. "So glad I didn't. My life would be... so.... dull."

She bit her lip and nodded, smiling slightly and holding his hand to her cheek, feeling better now she knew he was ok, but froze at what her last said.

Leave her? He was going to leave her? She looked at him with ahurt gaze than grabbed her purse, walking out of the room. She needed a bit of time on her own, to think about what he'd just said, because at that moment she felt hurt, betrayed, and she was completely unaware of everything as she ran, with silent tear rolling down her cheeks, to Caillie's house and ran up to her room, hugging her friend as she cried.
