Wildpaw started when she heard the thin wailing of a newborn kit."the first one's here!" she said,excited."i wonder how many there will be.and if they're toms or she cats."

Darkheart licked the little thing until it was warm "it's a girl." she said pushing the kit to her mothers belly. "the next one's won't be so hard."

Applepaw flicked her tail to tell that she had heard and froze when a strange new send hit her. "Whats that?" she asked hollytail sniffed the air "windclan its strong to they must be on patrol. There border lays on the other side of the gorge." she explained seeing the apprentices curious looks.

Cobrastar sat on the Highrock and watched his grandkit pace excitedly.

Brightcloud nuzzled the kit, it was tortoise-shell like her. The stick cracked between her teeth as the first kit came

Pineshadow froze in his pacing as he heard a kit's wail, he heard Darkheart say it was a girl, "A daughter, I have a daughter" he said softly, his heart beating fast with joy and nervousness.

Rainstar looked across the gorge.

Wildpaw cheered."yay yay yay a girl! I wonder what the next will be?"

Pineshadow glanced across the clearing at Wildpaw, amused, well she's very excied, you'd think they were hers He resumed his pacing.

Darkheart helped to deliver two more beautiful girls and one tom. "Poor thing the only boy in a litter of girls." she said with amusment.

Applepaw gazed across the gorge and saw unfamilier cats on the other side. "Are those windclan cats?" she asked her mentor tipping her head slightly to the side. Her sisters watched the patrol as will with intrest but there mother watched them with an air of cation.

Rainstar nodded, "yes they are, the one in front is the windclanm deputy"

Pineshadow poked his head into the nursery, "Can I come in now?"

Brightcloud nuzzled her kits. One of the she-kits was a grey striped tabby and and the other was spotted like the ancient cats of Leopard clan, the tom was a dark tabby.

"Yes you may pineshadow but don't stay long brightcloud needs rest." Darkheart meowed "What would you like to name them?"

"Really?" Winterpaw said staring at the one in lead "He looks scary." "So are we." Honeypaw said "they better watch out for us." applepaw said "We're going to be the best warriors ever." "Can we continue?" Honeytail asked with amusment "We still have to check the other border." "You mean thunderclan right?" applepaw asked "Lets go." she raced away before anyone could do anything" "I'm really sorry about my sister." winterpaw meowed to there leader.

Wildpaw, upon hearing that all the kits were born, brought the fresh kill she picked in to Brightcloud. "Here you go.you need to eat.oh, they're so beautiful!" She said quietly, looking fondly at the kits.she seemed especially fond of the male."what's their names?"

Pineshadow gazed down at his kits lovingly.

Brightcloud looked up at Wildpaw, and thanked her for the fresh killshe touched the tom's back with ehr tail, "This is Oakkit," she touched the grey she-kit, "and this is Whisperkit," she looked at Pineshadow, "You name the other two"

Wildpaw looked at all of the kits fondly. "Someday I will have kits too.I'll have beautiful kits like yours who will grow up to be strong warriors." She said.she was still looking at Oakkit as if captivated by the little tom. Cobrastar spoke from the entrance."may I see the newest shadowclan kits?" He asked.

Brightcloud raised her head, "Hello Cobrastar"

The kits squrimed into their mother's side until they found milk.

Honeypaw ran after his sister and winterpaw followed more slowly with a sigh. "It looks like we have are paws full with honeypaw and applepaw. You're lucky silverstorm winterpaw is so easy to manage she thinks of things before she does them unlike her sisters." honeytail said heading after her kits with a sigh.

Silverstorm purred in amusement.

Cobrastar purred."they are beautiful kits, Brightcloud. Congratulations. I look forward to seeing them grow." He said, surveying the kits.he did not voice his fear that there would not be enough warriors to mentor them when the time came."Pineshadow, I must speak with you.Wildpaw, you go with Darkheart to gather herbs." He said, giving the medicine cat a glance that said to go along with it."ok Cobrastar!" Wildpaw said brightly.Cobrastar turned and left the nursery, signaling Pineshadow to follow him with a flick of his tail.

Pineshadow followed him somewhat reluctantly after taking another look at his kits.

Cobrastar led Pineshadow to his den, to make sure no one was listening."listen closely, Pineshadow, what I have to say is important." He started, and continued to tell the warrior about his dream concerning Wildpaw.when he finished, he collected his thoughts for a moment."Pineshadow, I need you, as her mentor, to keep a close eye on Wildpaw.I don't know what to look for, but if she exhibits any...unusual abilities, you must tell me or Darkheart as soon as possible.that little cat could be the key to our clan's future." He explained, his age showing in his eyes.

Pineshadow dipped his head, somewhat amazed by Cobrastar's words, "Yes Cobrastar"

"Thank you.you may go now, and be with your mate and kits.tell Wildpaw that she can spend the rest of the day gathering fresh moss for the dens." Cobrastar said.

Pineshadow dipped his head again and went back into the nurswery, He delivered Cobrastar's message to Wildpaw.

Wildpaw listened while Pineshadow gave her her instructions."ok Pineshadow! I'll come back when I've finished to visit and bring you guys some fresh kill.see you kits!" She purred, and padded out of the nursery.

Brightcloud purred, "You have a very good apprentice Pineshadow,"

Pineshadow nodded.

Birchkit and Whisperkit squirmed toward their father.

Leapordkit and Oakkit had fallen asleep after been fed.

Darkheart sniffed threw her supplies she would need to go out for catmint soon she was running out. "Cpbrastar can I borrow one of the warriors so I can go collect catmint?"

Honeytail noticed applepaw ahead staring at the river intently as as she was about to say something applepaws paw flashed in to the water. "mouse-dung I almost had it." "You'll get it next time." winterpaw said twitching the water off her whiskers from applepaws wild splash.
