Easter this year will be on March 13th
Early Christians' Easter absorbed various Pagan festivals that would occur around the same time.
These were primarily fertility festivals, and that is why there is a heavy theme of Eggs and Rabbits (think about << >> <<)
Later Christians would try to explain away these traditions with: "Chocolate looks the same color as the cross" and "When birds mourned for Jesus, their eggs died and turned black. When he returned, the Lord was so thankful he return the life in their eggs and gave them bright colors"
