yeah, i even got the flu shot early on in the season
i am really happy i did, because this flu kicked my butt
and when i don't eat my blood glucose goes crazy on me
i hope you make it through the cold and flu season without getting sick

The worst I get is a sinus problem usually, which just gives me headaches.

Does you get weak and start blacking out if you don't eat? I know one of the diabetic forms causes really severe reactions without food intake.

i only passed out once and that was the day i was in for blood work
i hadn't eaten in like eighteen hours by the time they got blood out of me
then when i stood up i just passed out and hit my head on the desk, it hurt so much!
they kept me in the hospital for 'observation' without admitting me because i said i would just leave
so i have been trying to be good about eating on schedule, but it is such a pain in the butt when i am not hungry
i am trying to learn before i feel all shakie that it is time to eat, i'm getting better but still have some work to do

Eck... I hate those bloodwork tests... they're really risky for someone...

Sounds like hummy is Hypoglycemic perhaps? I don't know if Hyperglycemia has that bad of a reaction.
One thing I find helps hummy is to nibble something a little bit, the flavor of the food seems to encourage my appetite.
Also, a good tip is to get something like Fiber One bars and keep one by your bed at all times in case you wake up with low sugar. Strange had that problem once and her legs didn't work and she had to drag herself downstairs to get food.

I don't work with any of my diabetic clients anymore, but they're next door to my new ones. They're doing okay, but their problem is eating "too much".

i started eating a cracker thingie
the name escapes me at this time
it's pretty good for not spiking me
i probably am, i know i can go for a long time without eating
though now that i know i produce way too much sugar when i do that
i try not to do that even if i have to choke down something to eat.
i still fall back on not eating sometimes, it's an awful habit to break.
i find the smell of food bothers me more and then i won't eat
so these crackers are a Godsend for me in the morning.

My friend had that problem of not eating... I threatened to not eat on days she doesn't eat and it fixed overnight :)
If you find out what crackers I'll add it to my "items if hummy lets me send a giftie" list

honestly, Poet, i truly appreciate the gesture
but i prefer you to spend/save your hard earned monies on yourself
i know you want to be on your own and that costs a lot of money.

I don't spend monies on myself.
Being on my own isn't a problem. All I'd need is a roommate and I could afford it just fine.
