Its because I like the male items better.
Back when I first joined, my avie was a girl, but only for a couple minutes. I fell in love with the harem stuff and turned my avie male.

Ah.. ok.. lol.. I wonder why guys like female avie items and girls like male avie items >.<

Well, for me I just think they look better. Plus I tend to have more fun with a male avie.

@Kaze - I've actually thought about my gender like that too. And honestly, I don't have a preference either way. I mean, I like being a girl and all, but if I had been born a boy, I'd have still been happy. ^^

Lots of people have that.. I even think a mod has one too >.< so confusing...
