My grandmother was in my home when she went. She'd been rapidly declining, and by the end, all we could do was wait. One of the things I had of her when she went was her cat, and another is her house jacket. Her kitty is gone, and now all I have is the house jacket.

I hope you have things of her's that you can keep with you that remind you of her.

We've brought all her stuff from the hospital and nursing home back home, and we'll probably have to clean out her home in Taipei soon too...though first thing is to finish setting her to rest. We should be done by the weekend since it'll only be us as the rest of the family (namely the aunts) won't be coming.

I'll probably keep her cap that she wore during her time at the nursing home whenever we took her out for walks.

I couldn't stand to be the one to deal with my grandmother's body, it just hurt too much. I was lucky in that the entire extended family rushed in and helped. But they all lived in state, which made them being there far simpler than it is for you.

And it is good you'll have something. I know wearing the house jacket is a comfort to me, and I hope the cap is a comfort to you.

@Lexa: Me too We'll see how things go tomorrow.

@Zira: I'm lucky in that I'm not the one who has to deal with everything directly, as I'm only the grandchild...my mom and my dad will be the ones who'll have to do most of it. I'll just be on the side and try to help with what I can. Probably by bawling my eyes out. It's just so much harder to face it when she's right in front of you...it'll take a while.

/cuddles Ant/ Yeah. I imagine it is as hard on your mom as it was on mine, she was just so ... empty after. For a long time, she just watched horror shows that turned my stomach (keeping in mind that I adore zombies), and she just shuffled around the house, looking lost.

It definitely takes time to get over the fact that they are really really gone, and to accept it. But I also believe remembering and missing/mourning for them, and praying is all we can do Life goes on, it always does D:

Yeah, and though it might be because I'm more pessimistic, I keep thinking about how one day I may have to do this again when it's my parents, and how that would probably kill me to do. D:

Oh, sweetspark, no. It'll be okay. That is a long way off, and you'll be strong when it happens. You're gonna get through this. Think of the now, and how you can do what you need to do. Even if what you need now is to hold onto your grandmother's cap, and cry the grief out.

Yeah, cry it out... shout it out even, if that's what you prefer ... just don't let your grief bottle up inside you because doing that won't do you good.

We all have to face it one day, Ant. Or we might be the one who end up dying before our parents. We don't know what will happen, and we have to face whatever that's thrown to us

Yeah. The cycle of life and death and all that. Still. :c

I'll make sure to carry a lot of tissues with me for now.

Got through a bunch of paperwork and stuff today at the hospital and morgue, we'll be doing the cremating process on Thursday and then travel up north to her home on Friday with her ashes, and do some cleanup at her home during the weekend.

Otherwise had a pretty nice day overall. :)

Yeah...I'll have to ask the profs tomorrow at work about taking two more days off the week. And then I'll be going through Paperwork Hell again to try and get as many things done as possible because I'll be missing two more days. ;;
