Well you've knocked the thread onto a new page anyway. Most of the 'spoilers' are to do with the preview trailer which doesn't really spoil any of the episodes unless you're so spoiler-adverse you don't even look at TV listings. Some of these facts have been in the British media (as in newspapers and television as well as the internet) since it was announced David Tennant would be leaving last summer. :/
Lots of planets have a North. They might have an America too.

i actually really like the new Doctor Who logo - i love how it's kinda tardis shaped. I craft bottlecap jewelry and i'm totally making myself some earrings and a necklace with the new logo on them lol
as far as watching spoilers with the new Doctor I'm trying not to - I'm still mourning the loss of Ten and rewatching episodes from the BBCA marathon ;)

Kat: hahaha, okay. I guess what I view it as, is that the Doctor probably has billions of phrases to chose from, as he's been to so many different planets in the universe..... Funny that they always seem to be Earth sayings, though. xD

@lostin he loves humans tho so it doesn't surprise me that of all the languages and all the phrases that he would be partial to ones humans use (or overuse)

That's my favourite Nine quote. Mostly because I'm from 'the North'. XD
I like "Fantastic!" and "Brilliant!" because they show how fascinated the Doctor still is by things even after he's seen so much already.
I did my usual job of making stuff up too. By 'last summer' earlier I mean 'January last year'.

My head is so melty today, I can't think at all. x____x
I like "fantastic" and "brilliant" as catch-phrases. Geronimo is a bit.. too silly, maybe? It's like they're trying to make him look silly if they're making that his catch-phrase.

I agree... it sounds like something a comic-book character would say. But alas, they are definitely trying to make it his catchphrase, because he's already said it twice in just 5-minutes on screen and the Series 5 preview. (Yes, I call it Series 5! I cant help it, dagnabbit!!)

Haha, as opposed to Series 1? I want to call it Series 6 actually, I call last year's specials Series 5. :P
I just can't help but feel as though Doctor Who is deteriorating into something childishly commercial. I hope I'm wrong.

Comic book characters for the win.
I think if they were trying to make more money they'd just try and keep it the same as the DT episodes. It's more like they're trying to change the reputation of the show from being for kids/young adults to a more adult show. :/

Because that's how the new series has been marketed. Mostly due to the first press shots of Matt Smith that were released and the fact the man behind the most notoriously 'dark' episodes of the new Doctor Who (Steven Moffat) is now at the helm.

Hmm.... the actual clips we saw in the preview did not seem very "dark" however.
Unlike in those first press shots, MS is now wearing lighter clothes and a bow tie. I was just starting to get my hopes up again that he'd be a bit more like Ten than those early shots imply. xD

I agree with Lost.. the press shots did make it look like it was going to get darker, but his actual outfit and the clips so far seem to imply otherwise. Which is surprising, seeing how Moffat is now the main writer.

With that I agree. Every incarnation of the Doctor should be unique and not try to imitate one another. While making it believable that they're still the same person. Quite a daunting task, really. It's one of the reasons I'm so wary about Matt Smith, I'm worried that after Tennant's success, Smith will try to imitate him too much.

ljosberinn i totally agree. I've only seen 2 doctors (3 counting Matt Smith) and the thing that made it easier for me in the transition from Eccleston to Tennant was the slight character similarities Tennant brought to the table which reminded me that they were the same person even tho they were different. And he evolved into more of his own doctor as time went on with his own eccentricities and such. I'm really hoping Smith can pull the same thing off.
And I was also slightly disappointed in the depiction of Eleven considering Moffat is at the helm. I know he can't keep it completely dark and "blink"- like through every episode, but you would have thought the introfuction would have shown more of the new direction (I'm hoping) they're going, instead of a bowtie and jacket

Yeah, I'm in the US. Which.. far as I can tell, hasn't gotten any of the new trailers. Of course, that's with the minimal amount of TV that I get to watch in between two jobs.

Yeah, the only thing I've been able to glean was the leaving of Tennant and his replacement by Smith.
And that's really all I care to know until I can watch the new episodes on TV.

Well I have seen the transition through several Doctors, Troughton, to Pertwee to Tom to Peter then to Colin. As well as Eccelson to Tennant. Each Doctor is unique but they have to carry some similarities to the previous ones because after all he still is THE DOCTOR.

Exactly! Regardless of who steps into the role, and what kind of physical changes he goes through, he's still the same guy, with the same memories throughout his extended lifetime.
Some similarities are only to be expected.

I've been home for Christmas, I should be going back to uni tomorrow (weather permitting). :/
Then into town as soon as possible to renew my bus pass and cheer myself up with comics.
I think it was more about Tom Price and Kai Owen than their characters really.
